Do the requests/orders ever calm down? Feel like I never get a breather to simply go out and explore/scavenge, constantly have people asking for him and requesting things.
I think so, or I ran into a bug. Had a bunch piled up, but had to move bases, as people were getting cranky and I needed the space. Lost a survivor, scrapped an outpost to get some Influence and moved the fuck out, as morale was disastrous. Ever since then, I only received a call, which I couldn't answer, as I had to scavenge meds, and only met a trader. Sent out a signal looking for others, found a group, but they haven't called for a day now. At least now I get to clean up some Plague Nests.

I also nabbed a girl as a member to replace the dead one from an allied enclave who gave me a bunch of quests before, which caused their enclave to disband.

Silly question, but when you open new outposts do you spend your influence points? Or do they stay?
You spend them as collateral, moving out of the outpost gives some (if not all) back to you. I think buildings work similarly on base if you destroy them. After moving homes, I had ~50 construction materials. I like this system, because it allows the player to experiment.

I tried the game for the first time tonight. I never played the first one so this was 100% a new experience for me. It took about 15 mins of perseverance (I have a low attention span for getting into games) but once I got my base up and running I was hooked on exploring and scavenging!

It's a real sweet spot of combat, exploration, looting and base management for me. I love the complexity of levelling up your base and survivors. The fear when you bite off more than you can chew during combat and those fucking screamers!

The Eurogamer review was on my mind whilst playing and having now tried it for a couple of hours, I think EG were hugely unfair to SoD2. Yeah it's never gonna be a AAA top rated game and some of the glitches are piss poor but so far, at least, the gameplay loop is as fun as hell and way more deserving than 'Avoid'.

I hope some friends give it a go; this could be a blast coop.

Thanks for the replies.

Now I am running into another problem, how do you get your character to sleep? Like my main guy that I started the game with is always fatigued as hell and has half of his stamina grayed out with a "zzz" symbol, I know this means he needs to rest. I have switched characters, and literally left him alone for like two in-game days, I took him over again and within the first 5 minutes he was back to being fatigued and sleep, like wtf???

He has no injury and his stats are good, nothing that makes sense for him to be constantly sleepy. I noticed when I changed to someone else he doesn't go to a bed, just wanders around the home aimlessly or takes up doing something like sweeping a floor or other things...

There's 6 beds (I cleaned it out and everything), only 5 people in my group as well, I can't figure it out.

Well, finally got my first bug/glitch. I have a group member following me but they aren't actually there. I can see someone following me in the minimap but there aren't really there with me. Also, it won't allow me to have another member follow me because the ghost person is still there with me, with no way I can see to dismiss them.

Anyone else have this?

Yep, can confirm. No wonder I can't enlist people

They don't actually go to sleep in beds, but if they are just lounging around your base and not following you that should be them resting.

How sleepy was he? If it was really low to the point where you had almost no stamina maybe it could take that long.

All the bugs while driving are driving me fucking insane. I lost my beloved Pilato CR (RIP captain), because it got stuck on a few rocks and what seems to be an invisible wall..

Any of you know where I can find a Gardening book? I'm like 5 hours in on my 2nd home base and still can't find it during trades. I had to skip garden and just get hydroponics because of it, so I'm sitting on tons of seeds.

I kinda see what Eurogamer was going on about the world not seeming to really move without you. Lots of stuff pops up and stuff gets taken care of but it seems like radio messages mostly letting you know about stuff for you to trigger.

I mean there was stuff in the original where you could make survivors come and pick up items and stuff. I was hoping for, like, running into groups scavenging or the occasional other car beetling along, or perhaps some kind of zombie ecosystem. Or bigger aesthetic changes to outposts, like having them be boarded up and stringing up barbed wire and actually having survivors in there.

On the plus side I did find an artillery outpost.

You could build a farm in the base then craft the book

The worst part is a lot of them are stupid trivial fetch bullshit. Three times I have been asked to gather something for different groups when they literally had the stuff in the area they were living. Like, some soldiers want food... there's some in the building they are in. Wow.

My friends and I never played the first one, and we are having a blast playing State of Decay 2 on Game Pass! We haven't really encountered any major bugs, fun game that is something different to play for sure.

I got so used to quickly skipping through dialogue, going to the second option to switch characters that I didn't realize the character I was speaking to is sick with the blood plague and accidentally euthanized him.

Maybe I should take a break from this game.

If you go to the community screen and highlight your missing follower, press the button at the bottom of the screen to "take control" of them. This should put you in their body and reset them next to you.

Ok, played for 4 hours.
During this time : 2 crashes due to memory leak, got stuck 2 times in textures, got killed by an invisible zombi, was stuck in a room being unable to go outside despite the door being open, UI disapearing during a fight resulting in the death of one char.

=> uninstall this crap, despite the bottom of this game being so good. MS studios, what else...

It could be a laughing matter if the game at its core was bad, but it isn't. It could have been so good if polished. I don't even understand how they can let a game releasing in this state. I did alphas that were more polished than this. It's just insane.

Enjoying the game. I have it via Game Pass on both One X and PC, but I've been playing majority on PC due to the higher frame rate, although it has some issues on that platform as well. I can't seem to get higher than 60 fps? Vsync is off in game as well.

Question:How do you bring other folks with you if you're going scavenging, or do you have to build up to that?

Yeah, the frame rate seems capped at 60 for me too.

You can only get followers after a little bit it seems. Kept trying myself, but it wasn't until a mission added someone new to the house.
Double buffered vsync stays on even if turned off in the options. I got around this by forcing vsync off in the Nvidia control panel along with forcing triple buffered vsync. Now, I've been limiting my fps to 60 with Afterburner, so I haven't actually tested whether vsync is now actually off, but, at the very least, my fps is no longer jumping from 60 -> 30.

Edit: I have now confirmed that disabling vsync in the Nvidia control panel actually disables vsync and allows frame rates higher than your monitor's refresh rate.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. I ended up closing the game out completely and restarting (on Xbox) and that fixed it.

sorry man

i went back and forth between xbox and pc via play anywhere, with the majority of the day being played on pc, and didn't have any issues :/

GTX1080

Motion blur off. Running at 1800p (supersample to a 1440p monitor) at 80fps average (capped at 90 for inside areas)

Game runs amazing.

Everyone on Ultra except shadows which are on High because I can't tell the difference.

This was the info I needed. Thanks! Huge stutters in the game. This should help!

Yep. You're gonna have to quit out and restart over and over if you want a follower. It took me 5 times.

It seems to be unlocked by doing a few missions, I got a pop up that said basically it's dangerous to go alone yadda yadda
So I have to "activate my mods" before I can actually use them? I wish they'd told me that

The companions in this game are giving me a headache. They love to jump through windows right into the middle of infested houses and I finally lost one. I guess I should just stealth these alone.

Sometimes, I have to restart the game if I'm hosting. Sometimes, they do.

We've both restarted multiple times, neither can join the other. When I try to join him it just says "joining game" infinitely. He gets a message that said "session error" in the bottom right corner. He gets error code 5 or 6 when he tries to join me.

I hate when you're trying to help out a group and like 1 or 2 zombies show up and all of them whip out rifles and start blasting, bringing other zeds around.

What kind of shitty HDR sliders are these. At least put max HDR brightness with a Nit counter.

I have no idea what to set this at with my LG C7

Fuck me....

I was out doing the doctors personal quest and took the military guy along as backup, she wanted to get rid of a plague heart.

While we were there clearing off zombies at the store directly beside it I started hearing gunfire and went to check it out, came across three survivors, all of which proceeded to fill me and my partner both full of lead, did not expect to lose two people because of hostile survivors. They didn't even warn us or anything, just straight up mowed us down with their rifles.

Gah, the more I get into the other side of the map the more the framerate starts tanking. I can kind of see where reviews are coming on this part. For being a sequel the game should run a lot better than it does on the 1X.
