Yeah I do want one of those and the NES Classic and I haven't been able to get either for MSRP. It was definitely a supply issue.

The only reason I was able to nab one was because I was in the Nintendo Store. Pretty stupid they're so hard to find elsewhere... :/

Each batch of snes classic sells out in 8 minute on Amazon here in Canada. Still hard to find if you're not actively looking and setting up stock alerts. I got mine in a week or so after setting up alerts myself but yeah you can't just waltz in a walmart yet to grab on off the shelf in Canada from my experience.
its easier to grab one at EBGames now. It usually sits in the shelf for 2 days. YMMV though

Last week it was up on Amazon as a lightning deal and was sitting at like 8% claimed after 15-20 minutes. Also see them coming in stock at gamestop and other stores on a weekly basis. I've even seen them sitting on shelves at BestBuy. Seems pretty easy to get one if you are so inclined.

I would say that's pretty much impossible at this point. They've been back in stock for retail price many many times. Just happened the other day. I'd say if you haven't been able to track one down by now you weren't really trying or MAYBE just super unlucky.

I've walked into my local target and Walmart and just seen them sitting on the shelf, including this morning. I've got two for myself and gave 4 as gifts last Christmas.

Why were there shortages of this and the NES at all? Why can Nintendo not meet demand?

For the NES Classic? They underestimated demand based on the way other retro consoles sell (ie poorly), and then couldn't catch up to demand because they had to shift the production to the SNES Classic (they share the same internal hardware).

They did say they are releasing more this summer, I expect a flood of them around then based in SNES Classic stocks.

I saw a pile of them at Best Buy several times and got several alerts for them. I got two from the initial shipmeny. I think they did pretty good and can always bring it back again.

Never had a problem getting both directly from Nintendo Day 1. Got a free NES controller messenger bag with my NES classic
UK.

Here in Sweden the SNES Mini been in stock and easy to buy since november. Heck, even the price has dropped with a third, which is nice cause it was stupid expensive at launch in Scandinavia compared to the rest of the world.

I never got mine. Ran STRAIGHT to the store the day that it released right after work. And then another store. And then another. -All- sold out.

They are constantly shipping more, but obviously go out of stock. The supply has been far far better than the NES. I can't imagine anyone not getting one by now if they wanted it.

I still haven't found an SNES classic... even my wife tried to surprise me with one but couldn't find one. At MSRP that is.

There hasn't been one anywhere in my neck of the woods since launch. I don't need one, I'm happy with my RetroArch setup on my PC, but my sister wants one for her and her husband, so I've been looking off and on. Nada, zip, zilch.

My local GameStop has had shelves of them since launch, never understood the made up hysteria. It was nothing like what happened with the nes classic. You can go buy one from this sites buy/sell thread right now

I found lots of SNES Classic systems, way more than NES Classic. I ended up with 8 SNES classic systems that I handed out as holidays gifts to friends and kept one for myself. I don't think Nintendo did that much better of a job.

I want a damn NES Classic. They have loads of SNES ones now in stock around the UK. Just import one if you can't get it in America. Ours looks better too.

I was personally able to buy two SNES Classics. I stood in line at launch for the first one. They put one out at the Xbox One X launch and I bought it. I have never seen an NES Classic.

I managed to get my hands on an NES Classic, but I never felt the need to seek out an SNES Classic for whatever reason.

I got one before Christmas, and then about a month ago went into my local Best Buy on a Saturday afternoon and saw three in stock. I texted a friend that I knew was looking for one, and he had me pick it up for him. I don't shop in stores a lot, but to contrast, I've never seen the NES Classic in a store, and only saw one in person once at a local con.

Haven't been able to grab one on Amazon.ca or Walmart yet. Amazon usually puts them up for prime only, which is horseshit.

I can walk any given Media Markt, Nedgame or Game Mania near me on any given day and walk out with one. Even the two independent game stores here usually have atleast one or two in stock at any time. It's quite refreshing for Nintendo to have enough stock of anything 'limited' here.

I didn't want one and got one for Christmas anyways... I put it to good use though once I figured out how to add games...

It's widely available in Germany. I'm not getting one as there are only a couple of games that I mildly interested in. Give me VC anytime over another box in my closet.

I have one (relative waiting in line at Gamestop on launch a few hours before opening), but I can't say I have ever seen one on a shelf at a store, or simply "in-stock" online somewhere. (shrugs) I'd still love to get my hands on an NES classic- I thought those would have reappeared by now like Nintendo claimed they would..

Best Buy I work at usually hah them in stock... Until a tweet from Wario64 goes up mentioning snes classic and best buy. Then they all sell out that day from online pick up in store orders.

That will keep us oos for a week or two. (Sometimes up to a month)

I check stores around here every couple of months, still have yet to ever see one. It's a shame, I'd buy one if I could.

I can't imagine it was difficult in the US if you were following Wario64 on Twitter. I managed to get one for myself and one for a gift.

Anyone that wants one AND willing to put in a bit of effort should be able to get one. It's not in-stock at the stores all the time but it's not exactly hard to get.

Talking about North America of course.

South of Seattle. I see them weekly in stock at numerous Walmarts and Targets. I imagine I could have purchased well over 100 by now. Maybe Nintendo favors their US hometown or something.

Never once saw an NES classic and had to get a used one from GameStop a few months ago when wario64 posted the link. And that sold out in like 10 minutes. Hopefully the restock is similar to the SNES situation (especially for the second controller as the supply was nonexistent).

Southern Pennsylvania here - I managed to get one in October, and have seen them on the shelf a few times since then. Overall I'd say it's been much more available than the NES classic, which I have yet to see in person.

I actually ended up finding one about a month ago after searching off and on since pre-orders first started popping up, but was so disappointed with it that I sold it on ebay (at MSRP; I'm no scalper). Turns out I'm not a huge fan of that many SNES games, and the games I like I already have on 3DS or Wii U. Also the controller sucked.

Sorry for the bump. My friend headed home to Minnesota and I asked him to keep an eye out for one for me at Target. Sure enough, a few days after he leaves, he messages me with a photo showing me he snagged one.

Seems like they should be easier to find now.

Europe didn't have issues with either (eventually) as far as I know. When NES was discontinued last year there was plenty of stock for the next few days which quickly sold out due to scalpers.

In Greece in particular, they tried to do the same with SNES but there was so much stock that eventually they had to sell it below RRP***. I can easily find a new one for 80€ right now and a used one for 60-70.

*** There's not really RRP in Europe, the common price was 80 - 100€ depending on the country.

For me personally they did a lot better with the SNES. After the first month i saw randomly strolling through best buys, targets and Wal-Mart's. Stock alerts for online retailers made it easy to buy more if I so wanted.

I still don't have a NES classic and I hope the stock situation this next go around mimics the SNES.
