Ok, I've come across this just now so I thought I'd share, take it with a grain of salt though since I'm not sure of the author's track record, he did find out and report about DL1 getting delayed before it actually happened back in the day, so make of that what you will.

Here's translation of the most important bit from the article:

"I've managed to determine by a few independent sources, as well as both current and ex Techland employees, that the company is working on Dying Light 2.

Currently the studio is focused on preparing a high quality trailer, which is going to be presented during upcoming E3 in Los Angeles [12-14 June]. When asked if due to the release of standalone DLC Dying Light: Bad Blood, which focuses on multiplayer battle royale gameplay, there was a chance to expand on it in Dying Light 2, the answer was "it's highly probable". Bad Blood is supposed to be a first major test for such a mode in the world of Dying Light. I've also received a confirmation the the announcement of DL2 was constantly being put off because the first game was still receiving support and the team was focused on aforementioned Bad Blood addon. Seems quite reasonable."

Also worth noting, Techland is working on another big project and it's not Hellraid, which supposedly "was definitively deleted/cancelled". No details on what it is though, at least not yet.

There's a 99% chance of this being true.

Techland announced 12 months of free DLC for Dying Light 1 leading up to E3 2018 a year ago.

Its development has been an open secret for awhile not, it was just a matter of when it gets announced.

Hopefully this is true because Dying Light was an absolute gem.

This is a four player co-op fantasy WRPG IIRC. It's not Hellraid though in that they wanted the setting to be more exciting/less generic than Hellraid's was.

Wouldn't be surprising.
Here's hoping they go for a pretty location this time like dead island

Dying Light became one of the very best games of the gen for me. I couldn't be more excited for the sequel. It definitely feels like time for it too.

I'd play a Dying Light 2. The first one was entertaining enough, though the ending was really shitty in my opinion.

Day one!

I'm hoping they come up with a better villain, though. The one from the first game was hilariously bad.

Yeah me too... it is definitely underrated, though luckily not underappreciated, game got some following and sold pretty well.

I remember thinking it would be solid but unspectacular based on the reviews and ended up floored at the quality of the verticality and the combat.

Also, the Day/Night mechanics were really well done. I loved the race to get to shelter and spending the night in some cold, isolated place knowing you were surrounded by literal monsters.

LOVED the first one. Been horrible at completing games the last few years, but that was one I gladly saw through to the end. Down for more.

The first one is really underated. Yeah the story was bad, but everything else was so good :0

I remember I got it for 20 dollars when it was brand new due to a pricing error. Woulda never picked it up, otherwise, so I'm glad I did.

Will gaming companies please stop? I can't make it through the day with all the fatigue. Try something not getting released every month!

Damn. Was waiting to play the first (bought it twice) for a Pro/X1X patch. Guess that is not happening...

Seems about expected. The studios that released games in 2015 (e.g Techland, Avalanche,CDProjekt, Fromsoftware, Rocksteady) are all beginning to showcase/release their upcoming projects for the coming year or so.

I'll happily buy and play a Dying Light 2 -- especially after how well they did by their customers with the first game. Insane amount of free post release content. I'm excited.

They've been clearly gearing up to this in their DLC and teases on social media. I'd be very surprised if the sequel was not there.
