Can anybody confirm how, exactly, the matchmaking scales summons and invaders?

As per the OP: "When the guest player's character level and weapon is higher than the host, the level will be adjusted down accordingly?"

I have two questions arising from this:

1. The "level" will be adjusted accordingly, sure - does the weapon also get scaled down? For instance, will my SL1 with Fire Battle Axe+8 still have a Fire Battle Axe+8 as a summon, or will it be nerfed in sync with my low level?

2. On a related note, are invader levels also scaled down? Are their weapons scaled down? It doesn't appear that they are, because I've seen people twinking already. But, at the same time, it doesn't make sense to scale down weapons on summons but not on invaders.

I guess the best way to see will just be to grind summons in Undead Burg and get some firsthand data to go on.

Can you use the "loyalty discount" on Steam to gift the game to someone else?
Seems so!

Huh, so did they completely change the way the world is rendered? Since there is a DoF option in the PC version, you can see far into the distance clearly with it turned off (as you can with the sequels). If you were to turn off the DoF render pyramid using DSFix for the same effect, it would bring any computer to its knees.
Very cool! Though you can see a lot of things you weren't really supposed to in the distance now or were hard to resolve previously (lack of ground under background buildings, the great hollow being a giant low res sprite).

Right now the only place where I don't like the new lighting is Firelink, it looks quite dim and flat there. Very nice looking in the burg, parish, and depths, however!
Also weird about the knight and elite knight armors. They seem very flat now, but almost every other metal piece of equipment so far looks great with the new lighting. Very strange

Just a heads up for the PC players. That Malcolm Reynolds shitbag is apparently at it again. So watch yourselves and back your saves up...

I don't know what to do! I love the game but already own the PC version. I'm not sure if it's worth the upgrade. However, I feel like I'm not a hardcore fan if I don't buy the remaster.

One of my favourite games. I platted this on PS3 and played 7 NG cycles, not sure I can handle the second half of this game again but 60fps in 4k is making me want to.

If you really like the game and want to play it again, it's worth it I think. It's very active online and there's a lot of little quality of life improvements that you'll notice. It's not a terribly exciting upgrade but I think worth the $20

Yup, the game is worth it for the online play alone. I played the old PC version regularly and there were normally 1200-1800 people playing and the Remastered Edition currently has over 16,000 people playing. $20 is a steal for my favorite game of all time, jump back in...

Another weird bug-

After running the game and quitting back to desktop, my mouse sensitivity is slow and sluggish. I checked my mouse control panel, and nothing had changed. Rebooting my PC fixes it.

I've never had a game do that before.

That is super weird, is it still running something in the background when you close it? I don't get how that could happen

Holy shit, I thought I was just going crazy. This happened to me too!

Except my mouse speed became TOO fast. Weird!

The "save corrupted" bug is killing me -- rebooting the entire PC will usually fix it once. After that, it's constant error messages when I try to load a save. Often, if I manage to get a save loaded after rebooting, the last half hour or so of my progress is gone. What the hell is going on here? I'm quitting the game normally. I do usually have to alt-f4 to shut the program down, because it just puts me in an endless loop of "updating save data..." "save data corrupted" and i never see the menu where you can log out.

The game is turning off "Enhance Mouse Precision" in the mouse settings. Have to go into windows mouse settings and turn back on.

Didn't think Steam automatically made the game use Big Picture Mode overlay for games launched from the desktop mode ? Is it because I have a controller turned on ?

Anyway, Drake Sword is fucking OP.

Just played the intro quickly and got into the game. So far it runs well. solid 1080p60 on my i5/GTX 1050. The original ran close to this on my setup, but there were still weird frame drops from it being unoptomized. I will play more to see how it goes. I've got all settings on (TAA, motion blur, etc.)

Lighting actually looks good in my opinion--I know in some instances it hides detail in the textures, but so far it looks good to me, at least compared to 1080p in DSfix.

Man I wanted this but I saw all the hackers already going full force on PC and I don't want to go through this again.

Has bandai said anything about them ?

I don't know if it's just been a while, but enemies seem to aggro more/at a greater distance than the original.
I remember someone else saying this from the network test. Not sure if aggro ranges have been changed or not, but it could also be that you're wearing heavier armour than you usually might, it makes more sound so you can be heard further away.

Yep. Mouse Acceleration being turned off by the game was the problem.

Doesn't bother me too much. I can easily turn it back on. I mostly use a wireless keyboard with touchpad, so it is pretty much essential to have it activated.

So, apparently if your PC controller gets disconnected and you connect it back the game doesn't recognize it. God, why can't they fix these simple, years old issues?

So, do the improvements and revitalized multiplayer in this remaster justify its purchase if I already have DS1 on PC?

Played until the first Bell.
Looks and plays better than ever!

Finally i can play dark souls 1 and get summoned easily!

EDIT One complaint that i have is that you cannot stick around after a boss is defeated and gesture with the other players

What controller are you using? I'm using Xbox One controller with the wireless adapter. The batteries died and I changed them and the game recognized it. It also switches between kb/m and button prompts depending on what you pressed last.

Both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls kicked you out with the swiftness. I don't think it was until Dark Souls 2 that they let you stick around past the boss's defeat.
