Loved it! The soundtrack was SO GOOD! Whenever the Marauders showed up and we got this like tribal-esque vibe going, I was all in!

It was ok. I really wished they had less references to the other movies as they seem really pushed in.

Paul Bettany could've been a cool villain if he had a bit more screen time, but he made good use of the time he had.
This must have been an easy paycheck for Bettany, as I'm pretty sure all of his scenes were on that one set.

I quite liked it. More coherent than it had any right to be, given the circumstances. Though after all the mentions in the media that Kennedy et al. were concerned that Lord and Miller were departing too much from Han's self-centered character, yeah, whatever guys, he's a straight-up hero in this. The climax is literally him giving away incredibly valuable stuff to the good guys for free. The only yardstick by which he could be described as anything less than heroic is that he's not eager to enlist in the galactic rebellion, which is a pretty high measure.

Is the ending with Qi'ra meant to be setting up a sequel or spinoff? I could tell everybody in the theater, myself included, was confused by Darth Maul showing up. Apparently that's a cartoon thing, but, with respect to cartoon fans, that is not something you can just drop into the movies without explanation. It makes no sense to bring that up in one of the movies unless they plan to do more with it.

L3 pretty much stole the movie, as far as I'm concerned.

Maul vs Obi-Wan rematch is one of the best scenes ever done on the big screen or small screen. I wouldn't change a thing or do it over.

Tobias Beckett is the most "human from Earth" name imaginable and at one point he specifically asks for a "Brandy" for a drink.

Oh, was Teras Kasi a thing before the video game? I chuckled at that reference.

I'd have to put some thought into the actual ranking but A New Hope would likely be lower than people would like to see. (Putting nostalgia and its importance aside, it doesn't hold up nearly as well as Empire or even Jedi. They're simply better films on every level.)

And I wouldn't even bother ranking the prequels because they're all absolutely awful.

No.

There's not a single aspect of Jedi that's better than the original Star Wars film.

Just saw it with five people and we all loved it.
There were huge gasps when maul was revealed. Did not see that one coming at all and I was presently surprised.

There was also a roaring applause as the credits were rolling haha.

Is it ranking time yet?

I go with:
The Empire Strikes Back
The Last Jedi
A New Hope
The Force Awakens
Solo
Revenge of the Sith
Rogue One
Return of the Jedi
The Phanton Menace
Attack of the Clones

I have the exact same order except I would put Solo above force awakens. It's very close though.

Scattered thoughts

* Solid movie. Lots of fun bits, but I can't help but feel that some slower editing would have helped a bunch.
* I did not expect to leave the movie with a crush on Enfys Nest, yet here we are.
* Likewise, I did not expect to be moved by Lando mourning his droid first mate, but here we are.
* The score was damn good.
* The movie jerks the audience around one too many times.
* I would have flipped my lid for the Maul cameo had it not been spoiled by the Quora newsletter I got a couple hours ago.
* It was really neat that the body of Maul was Ray Park, the actor who played him in Episode I and that the voice was Sam Witwer, who voiced on TV. Merging the Mauls!
* Teras Kasi!
* Felucia!
* I'm mock upset that the movie has re-canonized the Kessel Run actually being 12 parsecs instead of that boast being Han not knowing what parsecs are.
* Emilia Clarke was amazing, somehow stealing a movie where Donald Glover plays Lando.
* I loved the design of Dryden's guards.
* Lando's cape collection!
* Loved that Han had a soft spot for the YT freight because his dad built them and took him through one.
* I have no doubt there are a crazy amount of easter eggs in Dryden's "office." I noticed what appeared to be a holocron and of course the Mandalorian armor.

Did anyone catch the line about Beckett killing Aurra Sing? That was a plot line meant to be resolved in the Clone Wars before it was canceled. Very cool

Question: the pirate gang when they reveal themselves you see one of the aliens from rogue one is it the same guy I wonder? I think that would be a neat nod to characters being connected

Man, was so great to see Maul on the big screen again, and voiced by Sam Witwer

Was NOT expecting them to name-drop Teras Kasi

Really enjoyed the movie a whole lot more than I thought I would, really fun film and the music was on point. I caught bits and pieces of the asteroid belt music from Empire during the Kessel Run, that was a nice callback.

Loved how they had Donald Glover's Lando pronounce "Han" like he does in EST/RotJ too. Definitely caught pieces of Billy Dee's speech mannerisms in Glover's delivery, phenomenal acting on his part

Biggest WTF moment for me was the revelation that Solo isn't his real name lmao

I really liked the movie. A whole lot more than I expected.

Really, my expectations were so down that I almost can't believe I actually liked it as much as I did.

I think a lot of that positive feeling is that I really feel the film gets better the longer it goes. By the third act, it was excellent stuff. I loved the entire end section of it (basically from the end of the Kessel Run to the credits). Nothing before that was bad, but everything after that was fantastic.

Just got back, I thought it was great! There is so much in there for Star Wars fans, I don't get how you can be a fan and not just have a dumb grin on your face most of the time. When they are doing the kessel run and that magical theme kicks in and it's Han and Chewie with the falcon doing their thing it's perfect.

People don't like the first part, I thought it was great to finally see planets talked about so much in the EU finally come to life. I believed Han and Qi'ra relationship, the chase was fun. The best part though is just seeing the galaxy under imperial rule, I love that shit, we get to see the entire galaxy slowly come to life. The war scene was so damn good, I want a whole movie of crazy empire war scenes, of what it's like being in that machine.

Everyone did a great job. Alden was fine, he just isn't Ford, no one is Ford. He doesn't have the swagger or screen presence but the Kasdan writing absolutely came through, it was 100% Solo. It's like watching Solo in a cartoon or game, it's not Ford but it is the character. Glover on the other hand was totally Lando, nailed all of it. Harrelson was great as the mercenary mentor. Bellamy was an awesome villain. I feel like this being a one off and us kind of knowing who lives ruins a lot of the potential of these characters, so it never reaches the level of caring for these side guys like you do in the main series.

I loved seeing sabaac being played. I loved seeing the nav computer being explained. I loved seeing Chewie meeting Han for the first time and Han showing he can speak wookie. Han and Lando's relationship was perfect, hopefully we get more to see where they left off before ESB. Most importantly they made the acquisition of the Falcon work so well.

There were some beautiful shots, that maw sequence was gorgeous. Lots of good action sequences like the train heist, kessel run was fun and the final one on one fight was cool. It never reaches the action highs of rogue one but the characters and dialogue is much better in this one.

As for Maul, I was blown away, so cool. It felt like a marvel movie moment with them starting to build connections between the side stories. I am so ready for some Jedi action, it is nice to focus on other aspects of the Galaxy but damn it give me some lightsaber fights and crazy force powers. Maul on screen is a positive.

I don't know where I rank this. Right now RO, TLJ and Solo are all a jumbled mess in between TPM/AOTC and the the rest of the movies which I love. Solo doesn't have the highs that TLJ had but it sure as hell doesn't have the lows, and it doesn't piss me off like that movie does. In the end it's more good Star Wars and that is something I will never get sick of.
