Will be going in blind-ish tonight. As in, I know some stuff, but haven't played before and not going to be playing with a wiki open.
That being said, anything I should take into consideration? Stuff like important stat soft caps and the adaptibility shenanigans with the dodge rolls from DS II?

Ignore the Resistance stat completely. Entirely useless.
There is no ADP. Fast-roll is now under 25% equip burden, medium roll under 50%, you fatroll after that. Only 4-way dodge, and you can't dash while locked-on.
Poise works pretty well (unfortunately). Soft-caps are usually at 40.

Being able to disable Anti-Aliasing, Motion Blur and Depth of Field makes it so crisp.
And I finally managed to get sound from my TV through HDMI... Before I used headphones to the DualShock 4.
Also there is INSANE loads of possibilities to re-map the DualShock4 in Steam.
You CAN actually change the Touch Pad to be TWO BUTTONS and then change them to be the Select and Start Button. You can also change so Share-button i screenshot of course :)
My PC starts so fast and I can even skip the intro screens by pressing buttons!
The downside:
I heard that innocent people got banned by being invaded or co-op:ing with hackers.
I have long going problems with my internet connection dropping out once in a while and it's especially bad on PC and in Dark Souls I get funny Co-op lag with characters and enemies suddenly stopping and then moving vast distances.
= For the moment I probably should play offline
EDIT: What I do is I have DASH/ROLL on L1, BLOCK on DualShock X and CONFIRM on CIRCLE. It works best in Bloodborne where you not use Block as much but I got used to it and here we are!

One really dumb thing they did...
For some reason they didn't separate the HUD elements from the inventory/menu system, so that if you want to make use of the new HUD resizing feature, it resizes the menus too.
The Dark Souls HUD is so damn big, but if I want to make it much smaller (50-60%), then I can barely read my inventory anymore. I have to settle for about 80% resize.

The adjustment from DS3 to DS is hard, it made me appreciate DS3 combat even more.
But that won't stop me from creating my giant dad build.

QoL I wish we had, that would break nothing of the current game:
- auto-hide HUD
- running up ladders (and controlling the sliding down)
- "belt" items like in Bloodborne, on touchpad or something. I'd put all the online items there.

halberd is the worst black knight weapon. go for the greatsword
If you're a first timer Master Key can be an annoyance, it opens so much supposed blocked areas that makes progressing more disorienting. It also can make you skip a lot of good loot and of course, souls.
Can't remember if you can put it in the bottomless box, worth a try.
on consoles can we not slide down ladders anymore? i was playing the og bc version before the remastered came out earlier on the xbox one x and holding (B) going down ladders didn't slide but i saw a summon sliding down in my instance and thought they must be playing on 360. bought remastered on both x1x & ps4 pro and tried to slide down ladders on both but couldn't. am i remembering incorrectly on how to slide down? thought it was holding down the sprint/dodge button.
I just got the box, doesn't look like I can put it in there so... fuck me I guess.
You can't drop key items. It doesn't open every door, it's main use is to get to VoD/Blighttown early. Just don't go there that way.
Hold down on the left stick also.
I've been playing for about two hours and I didn't notice anything (yet). Game runs as quite as a 30 MB puzzle game. :D
It's mostly for skipping Blighttown. You can get some good loot buy running and picking stuff up.

I remember that i one shotted the Gaping Dragon when i played the game for the first time, this time though? 3 times he got me with his flying attack and one time i was standing in the puke...
then, i tried to help a few people with this abomination and wow, he has so much HP in Co op, insane...i was fighting like 15minutes together with another person where both of us nearly died a couple of times, shit was intense .-)
the boar had no loot for me...

Get to play this through family share and I get massive screen tearing even though steady 60 FPS. How do I fix?
So for someone who played the 360 version, what kinda improvements are there in this PS4 version apart from the obvious graphical upgrades?

For people that played this first, then went on the play other Souls games and Bloodborne, does going back to DS feel easier? I played this first and got halfway through and never finished it after getting super frustrated. Later went and beat Bloodborne without much problem and did fine with DS3.
I'm wondering if now after getting used to the genre I'd have an easier time with it.

it´s much much slower...everything takes ages: drinking, rolling, running, attacking...after a few hours you should be fine but the beginning can be rough. it´s Clunky Souls in comparison with the other games
