I saw it in an IMAX screen, I've never had the dark complaint during an IMAX because of the projection... usually the traditional projection 3D stuff is always way too dark
The dolby vision didn't pop for this like it did for infinity war.I always think 3D looks dark, but I keep seeing this complaint in particular for this movie
I've noticed the ads look really dark on my TV, it might be unwatchable in the day time
I've mentioned it before upthread, but it's a very deliberate style of the cinematographer Bradford Young. He's great, but I personally don't think it meshed well in this film at all.Did anyone feel the movie was like super dark? I mean like visually... the opening scene was so dark it was hard to make out, especially the Proxima scenes and a lot of the mining scenes.

The bottom half of the screen always seems to be blurry to me in 3D and yeah, there's always some ghosting. I got a new 4K HDR TV last month and movies really look so much better at home now than in the theatre.Yeah the movie was pretty dark for me too. Kinda reminded me of how dark ST Beyond was.
3d was iffy too. Don't know if it was the projectors being misaligned or what but there was a ton of ghosting (I think that's the right word) going on.
I didn't know rebels was official canon. Seems a bit much for the movie audience to recognize and know about rebels. He survived TPM yes. He is a character in the Clone Wars tv show, where we learn he survived being cut in half due to the dark side of the Force and alien fysiology. He gets robotlegs (like you see in Solo) and rises up in the crime world.
He also plays a role in the final Rebels season, where he confronts Obi Wan again. Haven't seen that one yet though.
He isn't "supporting the Rebellion" though, he's working with Enfys Nest's gang to stop Vos who is their mutual enemy so that Qi'ra can be free. He's being self-serving. It's only after defeating Vos that Enfys informs Han she is part of the Rebellion and asks him to join and he refuses.

Unfortunately in Canada we don't have any Dolby Cinema anywhere.I've never really noticed ghosting before but with Solo it was prevalent. So odd.
Definitely agree about the tv. There are no Dolby cinemas near me and it's so weird seeing a new movie without HDR.
Exactly how I feel really (including the part about the pacing), I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, but here we are.Just got out.
I kinda fucking loved it. It was a blast. Everyone in it was really great.
Movie could have been a bit better paced but other than that I thought it was great.
A fuck Han Solo prequel movie should not have worked
I don't see why it's bad that every once in a while Star Wars can't just be popcorn.
Solo is not near my favorite film since the OT (honor goes to The Last Jedi) but it is easily the most fun Star Wars movie since TLJ.
This movie felt like Han Solo in an Indiana Jones adventure.
So I actually really liked it. Nice to see a Star Wars flick with relatively low stakes, a small but prevalent role for stuff like the Empire or the Rebellion and just a fun atmosphere.
Would be cool if the sequel to this (which they're hinting at quite heavily) is Kenobi. He's certainly got a bone to pick with the main baddy. And he's on Tatooine.
Definitely. They need to take the training wheels the fuck off. Just go wild. All of the major action scenes (Han's escape, Train robbery, Kessel Heist, And the Kessel Run) were incredible.
I think after Mangold's Boba Fett, these spinoff movies need to end.
Rebels shouldn't hold the movies back

Maul cameo had me laughing like a madman. Can't wait to see where they take that (live action Dothomir let's goooooo).
Weird that the fucked the dice up though. Multiple canon sources say they got used in the Sabbac game, but I don't remember any dice getting used in either game.
Oh, I just went back and looked and I guess the only thing that says this in canon is the TFA Visual Dictionary. The other sources refer to other aspects of the dices origins. They never described the game in canon. Only in EU licensed fan fiction.
Speaking of the Kessel Heist, that fucking huge cthulhu alien thing was insane. We got a tiny glimpse at it during the trailer but I didn't think it was gonna be so prominent in the movie and so damn massive. All of the major action scenes (Han's escape, Train robbery, Kessel Heist, And the Kessel Run) were incredible.

I used to be a big stickler for the canon with the old continuity but nah, not anymore. 99% of the audiences doesn't care for Rebels. It's a different time now that there's going to be different eras and characters covered by different movies, the movies aren't as predictable for EU writers as they were with the prequels. I'm perfectly fine with anything in the EU being retconned if it means a better movie.

Haha, I was wondering if that was a reference. I really want a breakdown of all the stuff in Vos' yacht. The Mandalorian armor in the background is obvious but I bet there are some other neat gems there.

They shouldn't be. One cartoon TV episode barely anyone has seen shouldn't block a good story idea for a movie.Rebels isnt the EU though.
The tv series are treated on the same equal level as the films. There is no doubt whatsoever of that. Hell they brought Witwer in to voice Maul in Solo.
