Thank you, and yeah seems like the message won't prompt. I think I got on it's bad side.
Oh! I had this happen to me last night. The crow wasn't talking to me at its nest. Never saw that in all my previous playthroughs, I wonder if it's a new bug. But I just went back later and it worked.

60fps makes this game at least at the start so much easier. I feel like I'm a bloody ninja striking hollows down.

Two things I don't remember being a thing in the old version:

If you kill an enemy as you are getting summoned your souls for the kill are halved.
- What happened to me: Silver Knights drop 1k souls, with a Silver Serpent Ring and the overkill bonus I get 1440 souls, on two occasions while the summoning message was showing I did a parry/riposte on a Silver Knight and got only 720 souls.

While standing still and two-handing a weapon hold block and do a 180-turn. Your character will derp out and hold their weapon above their head oddly for about a second. Most noticeable with a GS/UGS.

Climb up that elevator, it leads outside to the Valley of Drakes.
I don't think I'm ready for that area yet, I'm getting my ass whooped there haha

I know there's like an elevator in the ruins through that door in the valley of drakes, that takes me back to firelink right?
Leave the Quelaag boss room the way you came in, then look left and you'll see a big scaffold with ladders and a mechanical lift. That's your way out.
I found that but the enemies in the Valley are too powerful for me, I want to go finish Darkroot. It's been so long since I played this it almost feels like my first time

So now that I've got hold of The Great Scythe, and scythed around with it for a bit, I'd have to say that yes indeed it's pretty great.

So now what? I level the scythe itself, or my own Dexterity?

The thing is I'm trying to build hit points and endurance guy. Do I just pump a few more points into Dexterity and continue to build my endurance and hit points guy? I'm at 14 Dexterity right now and I've got about 17 points in both endurance and hit points.

Also, I'm pretty much at the start of the contest. I'm at The Undead Burg, and am about to climb the bell tower for the gargoyle match.

Honestly, the gargoyles have no idea what's coming at them. I am about to fuck them up real bad.

On my game the Black Knight above the armoured boar area fell through the wall when he was walking down the circle staircase lol. :\

I'm having a lot of fun just being a sunbro for people, helping them with the bosses.

both. Your biggest upgrades attackwise will be from upgrading the weapon, though it can vary depending on how they scale. But yeah, if you got the minimal stats to use it then just keep upgrading your dexterity and use shards to upgrade the weapon itself.

I started a real playthrough after finishing my troll build and 3/4 Black Knights dropped their weapons. I even got a piggy helm to drop, this must be my lucky run. I only intended on using BKGA though, my favorite weapon in this game.

The only thing i miss of the ptd edition now are the h-res texture mods. Everything else is great so far.
Also, i got a Black Knight Shield drop, so life is good.

The latter was definitely a thing in the original.

After you get to the Valley just cross the crappy wooden bridge to the locked gate. The key for that gate was at the top of the scaffold in a chest on the way out of Blighttown. You don't have to fight any enemies. You'll end up in New Londo right under Firelink =)

Yes, yes, it leads to Firelink too. You don't even have to engage with the drakes in the valley at all for now. Or, if you wanna go straight to Darkroot, you can run past all of them.

This game feels a lot harder than DS II, III or Bloodborne.

Played two sessions and only managed to kill the Taurus demon. Getting my ass handed by what I assume are the Black Knights many mention. Seen two of those but haven't managed to kill either. Progress is sloooow but I suppose I'm a bit rusty because haven't played that much video games lately.

Hmmmm I got the BKGS to drop from the first knight but have never really used the weapon before, I was a Thunder Zweihander guy in my original run back on 360. :P But I'm also a Pyromancer now too just mixing it up for the new release!

Maybe I'll try something different for fun, Scythe?

Also, am I supposed to level up my shield?

What happens as the result - less endurance gets taken away from my absorption bar?

Please don't summon when you havent even attempted a boss. Almost everytime I get summoned its by someone who hasn't even tried yet.

I feel like I'm getting super lucky with drops. Got the Black Knight Sword and GS on my first kills. I've then put everything in STR and DEX so I could wield the sword and now I'm just one shotting everything. That thing just melts through bosses. I love it.

Going through catacombs, knocked into a pit by a floating red head who had clipped through the floor. Well, fuck you, too, game.

God every single time I forget what utter shit Bed of Chaos is. There is no excuse for this fucking abomination of game design and I wish they would have included some kind of skip in this version.

I know that feel. I cheese it with ranged attacks/save and quit every time. Not embarrassed about that at all.

Pretty salty that I've killed four or five Black Knights and none of them wanted to drop a sword for ya boi.

Also, what on Earth is this "give me warm, give me soft :3" thing that I can't even see?

That's Snuggly. You drop certain items in the nest, quit and reload the game, and she might leave a new item there.

So now what? I level the scythe itself, or my own Dexterity?

Unlike a lot of RPG style games, leveling weapons is massively more important than leveling stats. It was a huge revelation to me the first time I upgraded my weapon the first time I played. You can buy unlimited titanite shards from Andre the blacksmith so you'll be able to get the scythe to +5 for a huge damage upgrade.

That isn't to say you don't also want to level dex as you progress, but the priority is leveling the weapon itself by far.

As for the scythe itself, the running attack is very fast and very strong. Running attacks are great against bosses for quick hits followed by a retreat. Against normal enemies, you can generally do a sprinting attack followed by an R2 to take out most enemies in two hits.

So the prepare to die again mod got updated for remastered: https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/1372

In this mod there's updated bonfire placement, enemy positions, item placements, and some boss changes (such as the bed of chaos). Those that might want a remixed type of single player experience should give this a try. Make sure to backup the appropriate files before using it though.

Did I kick Lautrec off the ledge? Absolutely. Fuck that guy

PTLksIi.jpg

Not sure if it's the FPS, that I have more of a plan for what to do, or just me being a lot better at this now than in 2011, but things have gone so so smoothly this time around, including Black Knights and a completely superfluous Titanite Demon kill. Going to try a Divine/Occult Longsword Faith build, this is your chance to tell me not to

Even though I know they're weak, even though I know they have telegraphed attacks, I will never not be scared when fighting the Basilisks.

You should be. If you're wearing armor that barely has curse resistance, it can happen almost instantly.
over 700 hours in DkS1 and I got cursed in my first run of the remaster :(

ALSO the new Ring of Light looks fucking awesome. No longer is it a dull orange donut, but a beautiful, bright, firey ring. Are the miracle resonance rings changed as well? I have yet to see any

I still have no fucking clue how the curse fog works. Sometimes it takes a good while to build up, sometimes it insta-kills my ass. I think there's some kinda sweet spot in the fog where it accumulates some variable but it's too inconsistent to figure out.

Is there any reason not to kill Lautrec the moment he shows up in Firelink, honestly?

Got strong enough to 2 hand my black knight great axe and got it to +5. The r1 is so stupid fast for how big it is and hits for 400+.
