I was one of the people who cheered when they said they weren't touching anything but graphics but ngl I'm pissed they didn't fix that one branch near the sealer in Blighttown

Guys I know what you get for leaving him alive lol

I just don't really think it's that worth it compared to how good the RoFaP is

It took me from the initial release of dark souls to the remaster now

To realize you can just do two kicks to Lautrec and he falls off with no issue

I'm so dumb

If you have the master key you can speedrun and get the ring on the valley of drakes.

Lautrec is also not evil, he is following orders from a jerk goddess to gain her favor

Dang I feel powerful. I'm levelling Dex and Strength, rocking the black knight sword, got Havels ring, decked out in the elite knight set. For a first run of this game I am absolutely loving it and am taking my time

Huh? I just checked a wiki and it says the only other way to get one is to trade a Xanthous Crown which you can't get until the Painted World.

Audio seems borked. In undead parish and the ambient sound keeps cutting out. Are others experiencing this?

Is there any reason not to kill Lautrec the moment he shows up in Firelink, honestly?

On my first playthrough I didn't because, well, I didn't know. The more organic story arises from letting him do his thing, plus you get not just his armor but also the firekeeper set. And of course the revived Firekeeper talks like other people have said. However, now that I know, I'd rather have the ring asap.

Edit: Did the Capra demon always have dogs

I beat Queelag already (took the Master Key route to Blighttown), just figured I'd pop back down and rescue the Pyromancer NPC and HWB out so I don't have to muddle through the Depths and fight the Gaping Dragon, which I absolutely hate, but boy howdy the Capra demon fight did not go well. Barely remembered him as a boss from the first time around.

Yeah this is wrong. Lautrec has one RoFaP, and the other is trading the Xanthous Crown (obtained in Painted World, and missable if you stay hollow and kill Priscilla before the Xanthous invasion).

Firekeeper and Lautrec's armour. Anastacia's especially is great.

Unless you specifically want to walk back rather than homeward bone back there's no reason to walk over that, you can drop down to that area without crossing that. It is annoying that the geometry is so f-cked there though.

QoL I wish we had, that would break nothing of the current game:

- auto-hide HUD
- running up ladders (and controlling the sliding down)
- "belt" items like in Bloodborne, on touchpad or something. I'd put all the online items there.
One more I can't believe I forgot:
- Cancellable gestures

So I'm still rocking the Drake Sword, what weapons should I be on the lookout for that swings on par with that sword?

I like the Claymore a lot. Plus it has good scaling for an early weapon. Zweihander is also good but I has higher stat requirements.

Upgrade them to +5 ASAP and you'll very fine early game weapons. Both should take you through the entire game as well. Just keep upgrading as you get ember upgrades.

I like messing around with various weapons myself. DS has tons of fun ones. Man Serpent Greatsword is probably my fav but you can't it until mid game.

Honestly even the starting swords for most classes are better than the Drake Sword. That thing is NOT good once you have access to Andre and can upgrade weapons. Drop it as soon as possible.

Drake is very good for the first sections. There is a reason it is a common noob trap as well. But if you're in Anor Lando with it, man oh man.

But yeah, once you get access to Andre, it's better to move to another weapon.

You get the DS literally, like, 20 minutes before Andre though. 10 if you know what you're doing and can rush to him.

I wonder how on earth so many noobs even find the sword in the first place. "Shoot the OHKO dragon's tail for a sword" is not exactly intuitive.

The tail is the best target you can hit below the bridge so probably a random archer guy got it and spread the word, also all dragons have the tail mechanic in DS1 so maybe someone tried to cut its tail on later runs

Many walkthroughs list it as one of the more powerful early game weapons.

Also the stat scaling stuff is something that can be missed since the game doesn't explain it.

It also looks rather cool too.

There's a lot of dumb articles out there that talk about it like it's the hottest shit in existence and you can get it right at the start!!!!!! One easy trick to beat Dark Souls that your giant dad doesn't want you to know!!!

And then it spreads and proliferates until it's something everyone knows. And people that don't know better (or do) recommend it.

Regarding Lautrec. Idk, that's a really fun quest to miss out. I did kill him early by mistake during my first PS3 play through and it was so much better doing the full quest every other play through.

This dragon remnant thing is bullshit. I had no idea what the hell it was and never saw it in the original dark souls, and it summons some guy with infinite magic spam that has no cooldown or anything? Dumbest bullshit I have seen. Didn't even tell me it was an invader because it was a white summon sign.

First time playing through any Souls game with something other than a straight melee character (pyromancer), and it's been really fun! Makes me want to try some other classes in the future. Just using a battle axe +5 as my non-magic weapon, and it's been aight (just rang the first bell). Doesn't have a fluid feel, so I'll probably switch it up soon. Enjoying this way more than I thought I would. Was playing PtDE right before this, and all the small changes/improvements really add up to a much better overall experience.

I think I know why the Switch version has been delayed. They're gonna have to do something how the persistent online works with sleep mode for a portable system

This is my biggest beef Souls games. They weren't designed with sleep modes in mind.

Just got to the blacksmith for the first time. Still using my starting long sword. Should I buy the bastard sword? I'm working on a strength build.

What does being portable have to do with the online component?

Fuck! I touched the fire near the dragon in ash lake cause I thought it wasn't lit. Now I have to make my way up the great hollow instead of just using a homeward bone. This blows.

About to hit up Anor Londo with full steel and a +10 great club. I've been farming souls at the Iron Golem - he's a pushover and it's 20k souls a pop. Kind of annoying when the summoner hasn't killed the giant that throws cannonballs at you during the fight though. First time running a strength build. It's fun.

TBF, Pyro is like easy mode.

Sorc is a lot harder early on.

I'm in a build bind, since poise is actually a thing in this game I was ready to go back to being a fat arse tank wielding a clobbering pancaker of a weapon.
But having finally had a baldur side sword drop for me, ohhhh this thing is pretty slick. And with the upgrade to 60FPS rolling and evasion feels so much smoother.
I'll be going in on the pyromancy for sure though.

Just done Gaping Dragon and I had no idea he had a grab where he chews you up, got me with a Dark Souls 2 tier grab hitbox where I was by his second set of legs and magically warped into this front limbs, cheeky git.
The depths is still the best sewer area in video games, basilisks, butchers, giant rat, concise labyrinth design, alternate routes.
Kirk of Thorns almost murking me because three giant rats joined his cause, this time I'm getting that thorny armor!

My weapon broke right in front of Blighttown's boss. I had to crawl all the way back up and back again. Nice remaster, 3/10.
Brings back memories of my original run where I got cursed in the depths and went all the way back to the belltower for a purging stone, it's actually a fond memory, it's all about da journey!

There's a pathing bug if you work you way back up in the great hollow. I can't advance anymore, it's right where the lizard spawns.
