What if he's bottom tier like the giant characters in Tatsunoko

Yep. There are a lot of straight adaptations of Donkey Kong Country episodes in there, but the DK64 cast comes in later. So you have Bluster Kong and Lanky Kong in the same manga.

And remember the cabin in DKC2, in the first level, where you get the letter from K. Rool. That namedrops him, establishes the story that DK is kidnapped and being held for ransom for bananas. And pretty sure K. Rool is referenced by Cranky, Wrinkly, Swanky, and Funky. In japan, the first world is also called King K. Rool's ship since the Gangplank Galleon has no special name. Not to mention his face is on the island itself. He has a lot of presence in DKC2! In some ways, DKC2 stars the Kremlings and K. Rool like it stars Diddy and Dixie.

I just love the energy and animation behind Pikachu Libre in Pokken. Has a lot of weight to it's moveset even though it's tiny. Hypes up the crowd and would be an amazing smash character.

16th Place - LYN - Fire Emblem series
The Mani Katti's chosen owner, Lyn takes the #16 spot. Lyn, short for Lyndis, starred as one of the three main protagonist in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, known in the West as just Fire Emblem. The first Fire Emblem game to reach the West, Lyn was also one of the first Lords you took control of in the game- alongside Hector and Eliwood (otherwise known as the father of Smash's own Roy). She's made cameo appearances since then- showing up in non-canon roles in FE: Awakening DLC and Fire Emblem Heroes, as well as in Smash twice as an assist trophy. Lyn wields the Mani Katti, a blade similar to a rapier- and fans believe her style of sword fighting, movement and bow use would be a lot different compared to the other Fire Emblem characters. Lyn could face issues though, as many feel the sword-using Fire Emblem characters have taken too much of the roster. If all of Smash for 3DS/Wii U return, there's a chance Lyn won't be able to differentiate herself enough to make the cut.

So there's the results for a properly done poll based on fair metrics for the best veterans and the best new characters. But I want to assess other factors. Once a day I will ask for which veteran and which Smash contender most meets silly criteria.

Ah, good to have some numbers. So if we anything over 50% was a typical guess by the community (and we're ignoring that some of this really just a wishlist) then I wasn't far off, and it's definitely not 75%. Surprised so many were confident in Shulk, but I'm even more surprised how low the Miis are!
Good to know there are a decent number of Lyn fans here, even if she's pretty low. At least there's more than fucking Goku.

So I found out today that the fan translated version of Famicom Detective Club is actually the SNES version of the second game, and not the Famicom Disk System version. As I won't be playing it on my Famicom, this means that Ayumi Tachibana is now deconfirmed for Smash.
In other news, the car from 3D Hot Rally is confirmed for Smash. It will play just like Hornet in Fighters Megamix.

So goku is pretty much the Waluigi of smash 5? An unpopular character choice in one game that ends up being unironically hyped up for the sequel? who was before him? That image of him makes me sooo mad lmao.
Lyn would be a great pick. But Ashley would be my choice if Sakurai were to only promote one character from assist trophy status.

Emily Rogers is claiming that this roster will truly be the ultimate Smash Bros roster that will make a lot of people very happy. I don't know what to get from this as my most wanted choice has mixed reception, but I really hope this implies that Nintendo are trying to please as many people as possible!
If this claim is true then Daisy's chances have shot up from 50% to 86%.

Is there something about Smash that makes big characters unworkable? There are a ton of fighting games with ludicrous size differences, like a Servbot vs a Sentinel match - and the aforementioned giant characters in TvC.
It would make a lot of types of stages unworkable ... but these are also the bad types of stages with itty-bitty platforms, so it's win-win. EDIT: ok, I forgot Hyrule Temple. Hmmm.
You could do some cool things with the idea like the big character actually acting as a platform when you stand on it instead of being footstooled.
Mid-air platforms that awkwardly clip through larger character could be dealt with in a different way - like the big character just goes in front of them and they go semi-transparent so it's doesn't look fugly.

No Sweep or George? Where is the Button Moon representation? What about that shitty dragon from Puddle Lane? Metal Mickey? Special Patrol Group? Disgusting.
If this is in reference to Ridley - the 'too big' comments are just the nice way of putting things, to avoid hurting people's feelings. The real reason Ridley ain't getting in is cos he's 'too ugly' for Smash.
Platforms. Smash has platforms and other fighting games do not.
I'd like him to have Cappy but I'm struggling to see how it would work, taking control of the enemy is obviously not possible.
Let Mario throw Cappy, with an effect that is kinda like the flying cloak in Melee.
Sorry, Emily, but that's not cool. "Leaking" without concretely saying anything is what people with fake leaks that don't want to be proven wrong do.
Those screenshots from her Twitter posted by Daisyman in which she says "I'm an insider and know the roster, it's the best; not saying because I don't wanna spoil, not because I don't know and don't wanna be proven wrong"; that's just what Stealth did.

High School me had the whiplash of a lifetime when I loaded up the Brawl dojo and saw Lyn got added...but as an assist trophy.
I do have some hope again for her. With her popularity coming to light with the mobile game (popularity poll +multiple banners) and the FE Warriors appearance I'm excited but with expectations in check.
Only other fighter I really want is Ridley and hey maybe that'll happen too.

I think that if Emily or Stealth or Vergeben had actual verifiable info, we'd be getting stuff leaked seriously by the media. Unless they all got scared by Gematsu's "miss" from their 4 reporting.
