Ive always liked Otep. I wish some more mainstream musicians would go on an all out attack.

Otep is rap/rock but its not masculine fueled rage. The singer is a woman who is gay and vegan and these themes are in her music. She hates Trump, obviously. lol.

I listened to Otep back in the day; always liked their style.

While this song has many truths in it, I thought it was only okay. I also disagree that we're on the brink of WW3.

This almost sounds like a parody of actual politically charged rap/rock, it's so generic.

Otep finally crawled out of the rock that was 2004 to find their style of music should have stayed hidden under that rock

I used to listen to Otep back in the day and I did enjoy it back in the day, but I feel like every album release after the first just got worse and worse. There's people out there who do a better job at delivering politically charged messages through hip hop metal.

Hyro The Hero - Bullet (You'll have to watch on YouTube)

His new album hits next month. Been listening to him since 2008. He's been around for years, but it feels like he's really knocking it out of the park now. I feel like he and his band does this better.

Also you got:

Prophets of Rage

Ice-T's Body Count

Powerflo

Arch Enemy's Alissa White-Gluz is a powerful person. The band handles political issue in their songs as well, but without hip hop. (Will have to watch this on YouTube as well.)

These bands also focus in on more broader issues than just focusing in on one person.

This song is terrible and Otep doesn't have a leg to stand one considering the shit she's done to other people and bands on tour with her. She's a bad person, in a bad band, with bad songs.

From what I remember of their first album, they used to be far more visceral.

Same. The "rap/rock" descriptor is completely new to me in regards to Otep. The video in the OP doesn't sound ANYTHING like what I remember, sadly.

I haven't listened to them since maybe a few tracks off their second album, which I wasn't into. Is Kitty still a thing?

ALSO: +100pts to the poster who dropped the Arch Enemy video in here. AE is legit metal and I was so happy when the new singer turned out to be a great pick. *opens Spotify*
