Ah, doubt they do another new UI again when they just changed it? Gesture controls are a good guess. I realize Samsung phones are not for me, so I'm not buying another one, but I'll look out for your impressions lol. Pixel 3 xl or OnePlus 6T is going to be my next phone purchase I guess.
Darn, if the Note 9 had a 4K display I might have wanted to upgrade for the S9+.Seems like all the original rumored features have been pushed out of this year... So from what I can tell it's just gonna be the s9+ with a pen lol.
There's been some voices mentioning a new UI though... Yay?
I'm gonna guess Samsung will do some gesture controls.
Oh yeah. Bixby 2.0 was confirmed!

I never thought I'd be someone who would want a 4K display (hell 1080p is just fine for me on a phone), but it's kinda annoying to have this great screen on my S9+ and not be able to stream 4K HDR movies from places like VUDU. I know I can get HDR with streaming places like YouTube and Netflix, but I'd love it for all my digital movies.
It's kinda concerning how Sony has been quiet about the XZ2 Premium. Well I'm sure they have a good reason
Opposed to the rest of the manufacturers who are making really exciting phones right now?
Does the XZ premium actually support 4k streaming on all the services?Sony got ya covered man ;)
Well if random people on the net are to be believed, it's taking longer than expected to get the camera up and running. It seems really good based off the hands on samples we've seen, so I dunno...

I know it does for YouTube. Not sure about other
That sounds pretty good! I've been considering the Nokia 7 Plus as an upgrade from my slowly crapping out Nexus 5X, seems like a good move. Though I'm really unsure about pricing/where to buy one. Seems like a mismosh online, or maybe I'm just dumb and not looking at the right place. (I'm in the US)Couple of days in with the Nokia 7 Plus now, this is great little mid-range phone. Android One experience is as you expect, perfect. Installed the P beta, and that has been pretty great, I've certainly ran worse first release Android beta's in the past.
The phone itself is snappy, screen looks great, Steam Link runs flawlessly. Camera doesn't compare the the flagships I'm used to, but it is pretty decent. The only thing I don't like is the fact that they put rounded edges in the casing around the screen, because the screen at the bottom doesn't properly align and it doesn't make a nice radius like at the top of the screen.
As for Android's implementation of gestures, it's fine, but I prefer the iPhone gestures. Swipe up to home and up and to the left for multitasking makes way more sense to me than tapping for home (tapping a small on-screen button is not a gesture in my book) and swiping up for multitasking or the app list (I can't count the amount of times I wanted to go to multitasking but swiped too much to go the app list).
I am curious where this is relevant on a 6"(?) screen?Does the XZ premium actually support 4k streaming on all the services?

The resolution itself really isn't, but streaming services like VUDU only offer HDR versions of their movies in 4K.
Just got the Mi Mix 2s... Man, what a device! The quality, build and design is incredible.
The gestures are sooooooo good.
Setup everything how I like it but there's a massive fuck up from Xiaomi, get this, they disable Smart Lock and Trusted Agents. Meaning, if you have a Bluetooth device paired to your phone it won't unlock it. This also means you can't "Ok, Google" when the screen is off.
Ugh.
pretty much. its just more screen. Won't really annoy you unless you really needa know the battery % or you have billions of notificationsMore days using the op6. Notch is an after thought. Just part of the status bar.
Good news on the battery % front. OnePlus is putting it back in the next update.sucks for cars.
ok google doesn't really work well in oreo though. trusted voice doesn't work half the time.

Seems like OnePlus 6 has a hdr screen. Plays hdr video on YouTube perfectly.
Also seems like face unlock works brilliantly https://twitter.com/rikvduijn/status/1001472715566538752
Beaten by a black and white print out hahaha

So while I have a nice very high res, HDR capable display on my S9+, I can't actually take advantage of it with any of my digital movies. Unless it's possible to rip (or download a rip) of a 4K Bluray I own and play it with a general media player on the phone.
Like I've said before, 1080p is really all I need for a phone screen, I just wish more digital services allowed for 1080p HDR content.
Blue tint will be back.
And burn in. To be fair the blue tint wasn't as bad on the recent 2 xl I bought. The screen was grainy though and it felt plastic to the touch, like it was cheap quality.
I know, but actually having a 4K screen is probably the first step in actually getting them to consider adding 4K support.Vudu doesn't permit UHD streaming (either 4K or 4K HDR or even HD HDR) on any mobile platforms at present, including iOS.
Buying a 4K device will not change the fact that only supported devices get HDR, and that appears to be much more down to DRM and business interests than anything else.
Alright guys, I sliced my finger on my cracked S7 Edge screen, so it's time to replace it. I'd like to spend no more than $300 on a new unit (I'd prefer not to go used, I like having new tech). Unfortunately I'm on Verizon which I understand really limits my options. What do you recommend? I don't want to go bigger than the S7 Edge if possible, I find the thing a pain to use in one hand.
It's hard to find it new, but I went from an S7 Edge to a Moto Z Play late last year and enjoyed it quite a lot. Downgrade in the screen res and camera, but for a weaker processor it was surprisingly snappy and the battery life is great.Alright guys, I sliced my finger on my cracked S7 Edge screen, so it's time to replace it. Further, the report says that Google's implementation of the notch will be considerably slimmer compared to Apple's iPhone X, but much taller. Inside of that notch, there will, of course, be a front-facing speaker, but also two cameras. The back, on the other hand, will still only have one camera with Google's software-based portrait mode still available.]
Someone did a mock up based off that screen protector.
I feel ill
they know tech youtubers will love it.Verizon exclusive again, thick ass notch, possible underwhelming LG OLED again? Lmao. Google what are you doing? All these years to get this right and still screwing it up.
Yeah, the G series, especially the plus, haven't veen budget since last years line up. Moto's budget offerings are now in the E and C series, the Gs can go upwards of 300 euros.Ended up going with the Moto G6 that came out today. It does not feel like a budget phone in the slightest.
