Doesn't it have more to do with Pokémon games being released simultaneously globally since X and Y? I thought that was the reason
Oho Shuta could possibly be doing the reveal? Well that's one outcome I definitely was not expecting. Or it could be the total opposite. There is going to be a huge info blowout, where they are so confident that they will reveal the games and then tell us that a direct is coming for more info. Or maybe because of the wording of a new story in the original summary, its just the long awaited new eeveelution in Movie 21.

Since the big games are rumoured to release in 2019, everyone should take Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee as a bonus game.

Well it's not like the game is being released tomorrow. There will still be plenty of talk to be had between now and release. I assume a new something will get its own thread, the question is if that new thread will remain the general discussion thread for the game from now until release, or if everyone will eventually return to a general speculation thread.
