We're about halfway through the year - what are everyone's favorite new shows thus far?

For me the standouts are:

Howards End
Patrick Melrose
Killing Eve
The Terror

with Counterpart, Barry, and Cobra Kai coming in as runner ups.

My top new shows of the year:

1) Killing Eve
2) The Terror
3) Barry

I plan on catching up on Patrick Melrose this week, the talk in the May TV thread has me super excited to finally catch up. Then it's on to Counterpart!

Patrick Melrose and Killing Eve for me.

I've liked some other new stuff but nothing else comes close to those two.

Yep, (Killing Eve, Counterpart, Terror, Barry) are it for me. I will also say Joe Pera Talks With You is fantastic, and more people should check it out for something extremely light, sweet, and non-cynical. There really is no other show like it on television.

Killing Eve, Counterpart, The End of the F***ing World (this may have aired elsewhere last year though) and Barry are my favorite new shows from this year so far. I have The Terror and Patrick Melrose on my list of shows to watch but have not gotten to them yet.

Question regarding ratings, did they ever adapt to include DVR & streaming platforms like Hulu?
Yes for DVR. The normal overnight numbers are actually counting everyone that watched live or later on the same day. Live+3 and Live+7 are counting anyone that viewed it in 3/7 days since airing.
Hulu's not being counted unless you mean their live TV stuff.

Hello friend

Interesting that Hulu and those platforms are not better counted in 'ratings' considering how much people use them now. I understand live rating is what matters to advertisers overall, but I do wonder what B99's numbers would have been like if they included streaming platforms.

Hi there!

I don't have strong opinion about counting Hulu for Nielsen numbers. If it's not viewable live it probably should be counted in another category but I can see the arguments for it as well.

Remember that advertisers don't care how many people watch the show, they care how many people watch the ads. That is what Nielsen is tracking.

Hulu shouldn't be included because it doesn't have the same ad load as the broadcast version of stuff.

I might have to add more shows to my list from what people are picking as the new ones they like. I still haven't watched Killing Eve but have a good feeling about it. All episodes on DVR so I will try to start getrige through those.

Barry looked interesting but I didn't hear much about it and don't have HBO. No clue what Counterpart is and this is the first time I recall hearing of it. Was never big on Karate Kid but Cobra Kai seems like it could be fun. I'm so behind on TV lol

EDIT: Since the text is tiny - ABC says: ""Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show."

So what did ABC cancel this season? Any chance of something coming back from the dead or are we expecting new pilots? I also want to see how the schedule lay out shakes out as well. I recall some comedies were placed on Friday so maybe one of them will move back to the slot Roseanne was due to have

EDIT: Said it in the other thread but I wonder if Fox will try to or can pick up the show. I feel like they would maybe pair it with LMS

Uma Thurman To Star In Netflix Series 'Chambers' Produced By Stephen Gaghan
Uma Thurman has been tapped for a starring role in Chambers, Netflix's upcoming hourlong supernatural drama from Stephen Gaghan and Super Deluxe.

Created and written by Leah Rachel, who co-showruns with Akela Cooper, Chambers centers on a young heart attack survivor who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor's sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are troublingly sinister.

Thurman will plays Nancy, the mother of the heart donor who forges a hesitant relationship with the young recipient only to find out her daughter may not be as dead as she thought.

Gaghan executive produces Chambers via Super Emotional alongside Rachel and Cooper as well as Wolfgang Hammer and Winnie Kemp via Super Deluxe. The drama, which landed a 10-episode straight-to-series order by Netflix in January, was developed by Super Deluxe and is Turner's digital content studio's first full-length TV series.

Was disappointed when her show was brought back, hopeful and relieved at this decision to cancel.

Values > Ratings

ABC, you had me worried.

I think ABC owns this one outright?
People in the other thread ar saying that it's a CBS show.

It was obvious to pretty much everyone except ABC execs that Barr was a ticking time bomb, and that it was only a matter of time before she said something so indefensibly vile that they had no choice but to pull the plug. Yes, her show got great ratings, but that will only go so far if you're actively damaging the ABC brand for everyone outside your mouth-breathing MAGA fanbase.

If they aired that second revival season after today, it would have been real, real gross. Good on ABC for their speedy decision.

Wow, that's pretty big of ABC given that show topped ratings. Yay! A dumbass uses a public vehicle to say something stupid and loses their show.

Oh well. Too bad they made Darlene too much a failure to retool the show around her.
