I will say one thing, I find this game considerably easier than Bloodborne and DSIII.
Because it is. BB and DaS III (esp. the DLC) are clearly the hardest Souls content. It's funny how people feared the series would get easier upon hitting the mainstream, when in reality it got progressively harder, even if only incrementally.

Yeah, but I am no big online player mainly because I am not very good :)
Maybe I will start a different character - this one was my first faith character. Maybe I will start over, progress is really stalling for me now...

This seems like a recoverable mistake to me, although you'll have this period around Anor Londo when you can technically swap to a +10 weapon of your choice but not really have the stats to make good use of its superior scaling yet. If you spend some Twinkling Titanite to upgrade Astora and you've already got a good chunk of Faith, you can use that at least through Sen's Fortress without too much trouble. Maybe just keep going up to 30 faith and kill Gwydolin for the Sunlight Blade buff when you get to AL (you don't need to do big damage to kill him, and you can 2h, just don't get hit) to solve your damage troubles.

You don't need to be an amazing player to put your summon sign down, by the way. Just tank some hits and do some damage.

Where's the best farming spot before sens? It's kicking my ass so need to level and upgrade stuff.

Darkroot Garden or Undead Parish (with the Balder Knights), maybe?

Darkroot, through the gate that needs the Artorias Seal to open. You can bait the 3 Forest Hunters there (invisible guy, Spider Shield Bandit, and Sorcerer) to kill themselves, for 2k souls each. Just aggro them, then run past the stairs and line yourself up with the side of them and the cliff. They'll run up the stairs, try to fall down to you, but bounce off your head and fall off the edge.

You could also do co-op.on a boss as well if you want. Just put white soap stones down near bosses you've already beat.

I was trying to run a dex build but am realizing my comfort and knowledge of Dark Souls rests in high strength and endurance builds with long swords. I'm kind of trying to see how far I can go without major leveling or item reinforcements and made it to Qualag, but she was a bit much for me. Not ashamed to say I called in two people to help. I beat her solo years ago so I don't care if I got help this time.

Thanks guys, totally forgot about the seal door. I've had issues getting summoned, dunno if it's because I'm plus 7ish on falchion.

There's certainly an argument that can be made for Bloodborne being the superior game, but it takes a while before you can fully appreciate the brilliance of Dark Souls level/world design. Another thing I prefer in Dark Souls is the amount of variety it offers in terms of builds. There seem to be more kinds of characters you can build, really adds to the replayability.

Speaking of, whats some if the most intresting, not common ones?

Feel like Ive done it all between all the releases, need something different.

Decided to join the Darkwraith covenant for the first time. Normally I just play human and let people invade me, but because that doesn't seem to be happening much I'm going to seek the PVP out myself. Pretty excited to try out being on the other end of this.

I'd also never done the forest covenant before and tried it briefly earlier in my run, I'm really confused about the etiquette there. I zoned in and a blue was shield spamming at me to come to him I think, then there was the human, and they were just emoting at each other, and then another phantom summoned in, and no one was attacking each other only emoting and I had no idea what was going on. I didn't wanna mess up whatever they were doing so I just rolled off the cliff. Don't think I'm ready for that yet.

The true beauty of this amazing game is that you can play any way you like, but that is a dick move for sure...
Smurf popo deserve it though. :D

I posted this in another thread last night (language warning - it's a thread filled with mostly British people):

An hour or so later, I posted this:

Suffice to say I had a change of heart.
lol. Welcome to Dark Souls! I had a similar experience, gosh almost 9 years ago now, when first playing Demon's Souls. They're now my all-time favourites.

Forgot you couldn't place Lord Vessel if you want to join Darkwraith. Terrible bullshit design...eat my ass FromSoft
It's not bullshit design. Darkwraith was always meant to be an obscure/secret covenant. Also no need to be vulgar. :P

For the Forest Hunters you do the legit strategy, of using Chameleon to turn into a tree, and just stalk them as unsubtly as you can until they finally spot you.

The artorias fight has the worst performance I've encountered in the game so far and considering the dlc was a bug reason I repurchased this it' pretty disheartening. Tons of frame rate drops.

I made a lightning Iaito and took it to +4, what a waste of chunks. I only made it cause I remember using that 7 years ago. I can still beat any boss with it just because I can evade attacks all day long but god damn that damage is lame. Going to reverse it and farm some chunks to make up for that silly mistake.

I fought him last night with no issues whatsoever. Except for me forgetting the timing to dodge his big flip.

I'm on base PS4, if that helps.

In my defense, considering they're blue Phantoms, they must know that I'm guilty XD.

Anyways, is their vigilante justice any worse than what I'm doing lol?

I always play the good guy/co-op healer on Souls games. Being a Darkwraith finally and just being the biggest asshole I possibly can is liberating.

LOL Well have at it then! I have actually kept
Gwyndolin
alive for once and joined the Darkmoon Blades (mostly for the weapon buff) so maybe we will run into each other...

I encountered my first vagrant the other day in the dukes archive while farming the channelers trident. Spent 500+ hours previous between ps3 and pc versions and never saw one before. It spooked me lol

Just finished Ariamis. Fun area with some rather cruel bits. It feels so good to be back in love with this game. The framerate, mild QoL changes, visual clean-up, etc. make a bigger cumulative difference than I thought they would, and I "grew up" with this game on PC w/ dsfix. It's not the most crow I've ever eaten (that belongs to Mario + Rabbids), but I'm definitely ingesting quite a bit. :)

I'm wearing a big pointy hat and I'm probably the only person in the game with the Moonlight Butterfly Horn lol.

I might actually try the Darkmoons on another playthrough. Multiplayer was basically completely dead when I played through originally, so I didn't get to do any PvP or PvE even stuff.

Seriously? I've platinumed the game on ps3 and have a dozen playthroughs - not once have I seen it.

They were super rare with the older version thanks to the shitty network. They appear when someone drops a lot of souls/drops.

I feel the new matchmaking rules aren't working as intended. Twinking is more prevalent than before and only hinders the activity in many places so far.

Really? there's still some twinking from "tryhards" but its harder to pull off and haven't seen the same as with vanilla (so basically everyone being a twink).

Regarding difficulty, it's definitely easier than BB, DkS3, and DkS2 DLC, but I like the slower, more methodical pace of it. It gives me a better opportunity to appreciate the world/level design, and for the most part, I think enemy placement is fair and makes sense vs. the greater mob mentality and aggressiveness in the later games.

My frame rate is rock solid, but I get random spikes within game of like 0.5 - 1 second where the game just pauses and then resumes like normal. It's too noticeable to be microstutter, but it's pretty frequent and really annoying...
Yeah, I think this might have to do with autosave (on PC at least... I'm playing it on a traditional hard drive though and not an SSD). I've been trying to pay attention to when it happens and it *seems* to coincide? Hard to say for sure though. The only time my framerate really tanked was when I was working on the Undead Dragon in the Valley of Drakes. If I was running through its poison, the framerate would drop to half or less. Didn't happen in Ariamis though.

Did everyone suddenly stop playing the game?

I can't find one summon sign in Anor Londo.
Same thing for me. I'm not over leveled or anything. There are a couple of signs at the end of the Kiln and I got invaded by a guy called The Legend which was nice but other than that, zip.

I've played through this game a few times, but this is the first time that I am using miracles and being a Sunbro. I want to get the sunlight blade obviously, and I know that I have to kill Gwendolyn or something in Anor Londo to get it....but that makes everything dark right? Does it ever go back to normal?

I thought it only went dark in Anor Londo if you
shot at the Gwynevere projection, unless I'm mistaken.

How is it any different from other secrets in the game? It offers you an incentive to defeat Four Kings early before you get to Anor Londo.
Edit: Or rather it rewards you for defeating them first xD
Because it's vague ass BS that can completely ruin a play through. It basically punishes players that don't use a guide. I put 500 hrs into the game but just didn't think about the stupid ass restriction. Now my playthrough is ruined

Shit I forgot that boar thing was hanging out at the entrance to Undead Parish. I was still hanging on to those 11K souls, so I leveled up and bought a ton of equipment (to be precise: bow + arrows, some more bolts and of course the repair and bottomless boxes) so I can go in (and inevitably die) without having to worry about losing stuff.

Coming from Bloodborne (my first soulsborne game) I really had to adjust myself, but after some time it clicked in a mayor way.
I'm really enjoying the shit out of it.
The only thing I'm not enjoying as much as Bloodborne are the bosses. They are kind of underwhelming? I just arrived in the Depths, but so far I haven't felt that awesome sense of achievement after defeating a boss as I did in Bloodborne. Will that get better as I progress?

Playing for the first time, just rang the second bell, now my fire keeper is dead and the firelink bonfire is out. Without spoiling too much, did I fuck something up, or is this just a thing that always happens?
