I mean yeah, that disstrack is hard and very disrespectful, but let's not pretend Push did address anything from Duppy freestyle and instead chose to go nuclear with Lipstickalley forum posts and pushing the Microsoft Bing search algorithms to the max
Drake being inactive on social media is telling as well, I assume this is far from over and this will be a Surgical Summer indeed. I wonder who will catch stray shots because you know there will be plenty of people trying to insert themselves into this whole thing and then disappear forever (shoutouts to AR-AB)
The funniest shit about all of this is the fact that there is stilla Kanye album coming out at the end of the week, right during his possibly most controversial era, lmao
How can you not love rap
Address..
...Drake saying he's written for Ye which is public knowledge and makes him tonedeaf to the difference between Ye being written for and being open about that vs. Drake getting caught with his pants down?
...Ye holding Virgil back which is just inaccurate? (Ye is openly jealous that Virgil could do what Ye couldn't, Drake fumbled what could have still been a good diss angle about Ye's assistants prospering while he self-sabotages)
...saying he's soft like his brother and older than Ye? (Pusha is technically Ye's boss as President of G.O.O.D., btw)
...saying he didn't sell as much as Escobar?
...saying his career has faded like the microphone, right after Daytona has been the biggest impact he's made yet on the mainstream?
...and most importantly, Drake fumbling the ghostwriting critiques for what seems like the millionth time? (which is somewhat lame for even Pusha to go at in the first place IMO, we know Drake doesn't have the greatest integrity as an MC, it's established)
It's a good track, definitely more listenable and IMO well-put together than The Story of Adinon, but we're not gonna pretend like Drake was saying some profound shit on there that warrants responding. Half of Drake's bars were either misinformed or hollow or just your typical "I'm doing better than you" flexing subs he throws on every other track. All the personals were light work or only warrant a shrug given they're not well substantiated. I thought Drake would win this round because it's a better track but Pusha got control of the conversation and attacked Drake where it can hurt him like Buddens said: his rapport with him female fanbase and integrity. New ammo >> explaining to Drake on a track why you actually did sell a lot of drugs (also kind of captured by the opening lines of Adinon).
Also ain't nobody know about the Adinon and blackface shit until now. Just because that shit existed doesn't mean it ain't potent material or invalidated because the execution is what matters.
I honestly have no idea how Drake responds to this, he relies way too hard on flexing and has never really had to play dirty now that he has to, has more endorsements and relationships to protect so he can't get too vicious (although everyone glossed over the CuDi disses, and Ye is still out here booming so I guess it doesn't matter much). He gotta have some bars about not really having a kid and aborting them like he's gonna Pusha's career, and then go 8-mile and say he actually has a kid with some other girl kinda thing.
