No, they are putting all their resources into catering to both. They are making a game for the people who bought their cellphone product and made them more money than they did with their core fans, so that they could bring them over to a new system to spend more money on more Nintendo properties. Then they went out of their way to announce that they are also making a core game for the Switch that will be out during the second half of 2019. So it's literally the best of both worlds.

This.

Besides, didn't X/Y arrive more than two years after 3DS launch? The traditional Pokemon title is still on track to hit that target on Switch. Literally what is there to complain about?

Ok, let's shine some info on chibis

Pokémon LGP/LGE does not have chibi models, they are just kids

See other NPCs in the trailer and the MC

Pokemon box art is rarely all that interesting, sticking to the same composition, in a similar style, with an obligatory legendary. Even if it's not particularly adventurous, I like that Pikachu and Eevee almost fill the frame. It's certainly striking and sets them apart from the rest.

EDIT: Oh wait, it looked better in my head XP. I thought they actually filled the frame for the most part... eh. It's ok I guess, but not as cool as I thought.

i hope you're right but how are we going to level up then without npc's to grind against? can't be just p2p surely
In Go you catch pokemon of same type to earn candies. So maybe something akin to rare candies that are earned in battles and captures ?
Just an idea.
Could also make it where trainers have multiple levels and get stronger over time. Kind of like how you could re battle some of the old trainers in old gsmes.

lol you literally started with some nonsense "tumblr nerds" shit. Stop pretending like you're on some highground or whatever. And again "very small percentage" is just talking out your ass. Difficulty modes are extremely common and in demand in gaming, and the pokemon series has never given it a sincere try.
Where are you getting this "high ground" stuff?

You want to tell me that the majority of players would play on hard or nuzlocke? Not a chance. The games are made for kids. And that's not me saying they're only for babies or some shit (just to cut you off before you start). It's like when people cry about Melee mechanics not being in a new Smash game. The majority of players don't care and don't play that way. Why would they cater to that? If they want to include the option for hard mode or something, great! But the whole "LOL GAMEFREAK DOESN'T CARE" is whining nonsense. THAT'S what I was saying. I think people who spend a bunch of time on forums or tumblr fan pages or whatever sometimes get tunnel vision and start to think that everyone plays ultra hardcore or that games should always have an option for them. It's just not the case.

And are you defensive about the tumblr nerds thing? We're both on a gaming forum. Clearly I'm a nerd too. I just used that as a swap for the hardest of hardcore fans.

Online info from IGN:
Battling and trading are both available online and locally, but online ranked battles will not be available, and as for the Nintendo Switch Online service launching in August, Masuda said they "don't have any plans to utilize the online service right now."
It sounds like online trading and battling is in, but a subscription isn't required to play online.

It might not be full chibi, but compare Oak to the Oak in SM, the proportions are completely different.

I honestly have been thinking about this too. What would be stopping them from doing this? I mean they added gen 2 and 3 Pokemon to Go.
And that is a free game.

The only logical thing that would stop them is that they would have an official 59.99 full priced gen 2 game instead... But atm with these remakes and gen 8 next year... I feel like it makes perfect sense to just do a small 19.99 DLC with a johto upgrade. Plus Johto Pokemon Go integration

With the addition of a single new Pokémon with an assortment of the oldest and most recognizable Pokémon alongside popular, marketable new ones actually gives off the vibe of the new Digimon games.

I could live with that if we got like 300 Pokémon in this game to match up to Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth.

they wont be using the Nintendo service but they will still be using online features. that's what I get at least
Right. I think they may be are afraid they will miss out on some sales if they tie their online to the paid Nintendo service, that after all not everybody will subscribe to. Especially at this stage where the Pokemon crowd hasn't been firmly established on the Switch yet.

No, they do. Oak literally has different proportions from the Alola version. And the kids from SM look nothing alike. Are you even looking at the pics you're posting?

Sorry if this has already been answered, but so essentially you run into wild Pokémon and instead of fighting them until they're weak, you just throw a Pokeball at them?

I think the game itself looks alright, but this part seems a bit weird. How do you level up your mons? Just from fighting other trainers? Does this mean there will be no more grinding? I'm a bit confused.

1 - yes

2 - we don't know, we know that trainers battles give you exp like in the core serie.

Different artsyle =/= chibi

That's all I'm saying. Of course it looks different, but that's not chibi. You can say that kids are chibi-like, but it's not the entire design language of the games.

no he said that it could replace the remakes not the core series, it would be a different way to get players to play past games that they miss, since we know pokemon go is steadily adding pokemon from differnet gen

Your post sums up just about all the info we have on that topic. You get XP from catching Pokémon as well as battling trainers. They also confirmed that the candy system from Pokémon Go is not part of the game. The trailer shows Pokémon trainer battles in which Pokémon have levels assigned as well.

Is third person pokemon rpg dream dead with this? It looks interesting (and super casual) but man I've been hoping for proper pokemon third person open world rpg for so many years. That said, I dont even have a switch.. But pokemon in any capacity certainly makes the console more enticing.
That's what the 2019 game will be.

That reminds me, feel free to quote this post, bc I'm curious as to which would you guys rather have (speaking STRICTLY graphically):

or

Pokemon_Lets_Go_Screenshot_09-2_png_jpgcopy.jpg
Definitely the cel shaded style instead of the generic mobile style, and the proportionate characters instead of the chibis.

Do you really think that game won't have Go elements as well?

Another thing: Pokemon Switch SHOULD HAVE been a year one title. I'm not sure why they cancelled Pokemon Stars, but it should have been released. Ideally they should have just delayed Sun and Moon for a couple of months and released them on Switch instead of having them come out on a dead handheld, but I would have been happy with Stars.

I am NOT happy with the way Pokemon has been treated. I think the last Pokemon title I was completely happy with was Super Mystery Dungeon back in 2015. There has been nothing good since. Let's Go! does not seem to be doing anything to fix the problem. In fact it seems almost as if things are getting WORSE.
No, because TPCi clearly said that when they started working on Gen 8 was to a point where GO couldn't really influence it.

"The majority" is a strawman argument. You don't have to be a majority to be significant- Pokemon clearly has an active and consistent competitive scene that surely isn't the majority, for example. Moreover, I'd be surprised if the majority of players make it to the elite four and experience lots of things in the pokemon games. The argument is not really all that sound. GF has been explicit that they don't really care about harder difficulty modes or end game stuff, so it's not a stretch to say they don't really care about it. And it's pretty strange that you feel compelled to defend (or whatever it is you think you're doing) them over a flippant comment in regards to it.

It's a chibi art style though. Even the adult characters have exaggerated proportions that are usually just reserved for children, just not to the same degree. What do you consider chibi?

LGP and LGE have surely a more chibi artstyle than Sun and Moon i don't know why you are trying to go to such lengths to dismiss this fact and... sincerely... that's great, Sun and Moon's art style sucked.
