This sounds great, I loved Origins and hope to see more Bayek, but only if he comes with his beard. The representation of Greeks in Origins was great, but the variety of Egyptians/Romans/Greeks is what made it strong, I'd be wary of too much Greece if it was solely in Greece. Unless it's also a smaller game, because I was under the impression there'd be 2 years between AC games, and this is awfully quick.

The idea of a 3rd game in Ancient Rome would be enticing also - considering the end of Origins culminates at the same time as the Roman Republic, it'd be a great time to be in a tumultuous Rome as it transitions into the Roman Empire, although most of the hundreds of years after 50BC would also be tumultuous.

This is not releasing this year. They already said a new game won't be out this year, instead they are focusing on more origins content.

Isnt too early for an AC game? Origins was released 1 year ago...we all know what happened with 1 year release ACs

I didn't say they said that. The point was that they should've learned from their success of taking a year off. And dev time has nothing to do with franchise fatigue. So an extra doesn't really mean anything

I mean, I don't think they are struggling for sales and revenue.

All of their GaaS games are bringing them in beucoup bucks, and if the Syndicate team was working on this they've had 3 years, and the only reason they were even created was to do AC games while Montreal experiments with new ideas.

If they feel the game is ready, then it doesn't make sense to just make them sit on it for no reason asides from "people on a message board are telling us that they don't care, when we will still sell a ton"

She was awful, "Oh I think Cleopatra's the next best thing, yup, totally dont' see that going wrong for me! Oh wait, it turns out she was just using me and I was a gullible idiot? Oh well!"

I felt like she really didn't address the death of her child in the same way Bayek did, maybe it's how she coped but it made her feel distant and unfriendly.
She definitely moved away from her initial motivation and is ready to give up her humanity for the "greater good". That's what distinguishes her from Bayek.

And that's what makes Bayek more charismatic but way less interesting.

Ancient Greece? Odyesey?

I was super excited until I realized it's assassin's creed so we are probably not getting sirens Cyclops, minotuars. I mean sailing the Aegean sounds cool, but without giant sea serpents, I don't know.

Assassin's Creed: Origins is like The Witcher 3 but without the ability to influence the story or flesh out the main protagonist and without the good writing. I personally didn't enjoy it all that much.

I agree. The side quests were meaningless MMO fodder with no substantial effect to the world building.

If anything I wanted to see more of the main story and the dynamic between Bayek and Aya but the game gates you from streamlining the game, thus having to do the side content.

I think, more than anything else, I need a dialogue system. Side-quests, generally, have been one of my favourite things in games for as long as I've been playing games (the KotORs are some of my earliest gaming memories)--but they just don't *feel* like side-quests to me if I can't talk to the quest-givers.

I've been following the leaks for this game, and one said dialogue was considered at one point but scrapped.

I hope thats not the case, but I do hope they change the camera. It made it hard to care about the side quests.

I'm a sucker for anything ancient Greek and loved bayek+ his wife, but the combat was so both shallow and boring I never finished Origins :/

You fought gods in Origins.

Just let the protagonist take drugs and we're good to go on that God of War action.

Just don't be Bayek again, please. One of the worst protagonists in recent memories. So one dimensional.

It's more of a spiritual sequel. It's set almost hundred years after Origins. Rome next year will most probably be set another hundred years after Odyssey. At least that's what "leaks" I saw were saying in the past few months.
Oh Crap you're right.

Bayek nooooo :(

Why Ubi. Why. Bets the new protagonist are generic sassy quippy badasses.

I'm down with yearly sequels again. The Origins style is amazing to me and I want more.

You may be down with it but the average consumer is over it. They knocked it out of the park when they took some time off and released Origins not only from a sales standpoint but a quality standpoint as well. Hopefully this an expansion or if not its pushed a bit out to maybe Mid 2019 just for quality concerns.

I'd rather have Watch Dogs 3 instead of yearly AC. But a good AC is always welcomed.
God I want an AC in Persia so bad. But there is (or is it) a thing called PoP which is probably the same thing.

Hopefully there's a Super Mario Odyssey crossover. Let Bayek wear Cappy and let Mario wield some wrist blades. I could definitely see this being revealed at E3 this year

Have you played Origins? We fought a giant serpent, big scorpions, Gods and dead Pharaohs. It's a fantasy IP now.

Pretty sure they said they were working on more content after that.
No they didn't. It was the Internet not applying Occam's Razor.

Yves: "We're not ready to talk about the future and are focusing on supporting Origins with DLCs - the two of them yet to release -"
Gaming press: OMG MORE DLC COMING TO ORIGINS NO SEQUEL EVER.

That's LITERALLY what happened

Wildland's "target" system approach to story and world progression just doesn't work for other titles, especially Far Cry 5. I don't think it'll work well for Odessey either.

Building up liberation/resistance meters worsens narrative pacing and the ability of main/side stories to interact with the open world.

Far Cry 5's side missions were some of the weakest in the series, with thematic context for most of them being relegated to building up resistance against each of Joseph's lieutenants.

This specific approach to progression structure resembles the "unlock tower" trend Ubisoft let go of for the better.

Eh, I think it's too early to talk about quality since we haven't seen it yet. Previous yearly titles did get worse with each installment though so I guess we'll see.

The confusion mostly stemmed from "We're focusing on more DLC for Origins. We have some mindblowing announcements coming."

I think Yves didn't realize that they had actually announced what the content of expansion 2 was, and thus thought people were going to be surprised by the mythological setup.
