Verizon exclusive again, thick ass notch, possible underwhelming LG OLED again? Lmao. Google what are you doing? All these years to get this right and still screwing it up.
- Verizon exclusive

It's the only way to survive when you sell fewer than 4 million phones a year. Google is such a hilarious irrelevant non-existence in smartphones even though over 2 billion devices use Android worldwide.

- thick ass notch

No one is going to custom make you fewer than 4 million OLED panels. Google has to use whatever shit LG doesn't want for themselves. LG has moved to making notched phones and that means the displays are notched and since Google can't get anyone to make shit for them custom, they have to use whatever notched shit LG has left over.

- LG OLED

Google insists on using 1440p OLED panels. If they used 1440p LCD, well Samsung and LG are swimming in those and they are good quality too. If they used 1080p OLED, they could get plenty from Samsung and they wouldn't be notched either. But they want 1440p OLED. Only 2 companies on Earth make that: Samsung and LG. Samsung is production-constrained, they need every panel they make for themselves to use in Galaxy S + Notee and for Apple to use in iPhone X. So that leaves LG.

In many ways, Google is stupid. All the problems they have, outside of being a nobody in smartphones who sell less than 4 million a year, are because they insist on having both 1440p and OLED. There's nothing really good about 'stock' Android on Pixels anymore anyways, my OnePlus 5T has better features than Pixel. The only thing Google seems to have left is a pretty amazing camera and the reality is that Apple and Samsung are close enough that no one cares.

Yeah, the G series, especially the plus, haven't veen budget since last years line up. Moto's budget offerings are now in the E and C series, the Gs can go upwards of 300 euros.
It feels a lot more premium than the $250 I paid for it. Honestly given how I use my phone I don't think I'd get any use out of shelling out for a flagship when this does everything I want. The only thing I miss is the waterproofing that my s7 had.

That sounds pretty good! I've been considering the Nokia 7 Plus as an upgrade from my slowly crapping out Nexus 5X, seems like a good move. Though I'm really unsure about pricing/where to buy one. Seems like a mismosh online, or maybe I'm just dumb and not looking at the right place. (I'm in the US)

I'm looking at the Nokia 6.1 and the 7 Plus. Trying to justify the extra 100 dollars, lack of US release (so if it's borked it'll be difficult to be repaired) for the Nokia 7 Plus compared to the 6.1.

EDIT - Nevermind. Googled to see if Nokia 7 Plus will work with T-Mobile in the US and it doesn't access the 4G LTE bands for T-Mobile. 6.1 it is.

Wait it seriously doesn't? Welp. That strikes it out for me as well.

6.1 looks nice too, now that I'm looking at some reviews. An upgrade compared to my aging Nexus 5X.

I think I'll grab this in the 64GB / 4 GB RAM option if I can find it. Nokia doesn't seem to sell it directly on their site?

https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/144840 Yeah I'm trusting this link. I'm so glad I remembered to google "will my new phone that's about to set me back several benjamins work with my actual carrier"

Good on xiaomi putting actual 3d mapping things for face unlock unlike every other android manufacturer.

Seems like a solid iPhone clone for $500.

Actually, did Nokia even release the 6.1 with 4 GB/64 GB in the US? Did they really only release the 3 GB/32GB?

My car hobby is getting too expensive....what's exciting in the Android world?

As I could see, the pixel 3 is laughable..and they will charged a premium.

Still rocking the razer phone and constant update from them is keeping me happy until I get the XZ2 premium.

The Red phone is on my radar, probably sucks but at least it has something unique to justify the price.

It's gotten so unexciting that I look at the Sonim XP8, Cat S61 or Key2 as something "different". More so the Key2 if I have to start emailing that much for work.

Does the XZ premium actually support 4k streaming on all the services?

I know it does for YouTube. Not sure about other
The apps needs to sortsup it.

Vudu doesn't permit UHD streaming (either 4K or 4K HDR or even HD HDR) on any mobile platforms at present, including iOS.

Buying a 4K device will not change the fact that only supported devices get HDR, and that appears to be much more down to DRM and business interests than anything else.

Vudu doesn't have HDR on FHD only UHD.
They just need to add support for the device.

Earlier this month, Samsung's Vice Chairman, Lee Jae-Yong, visited a Shenzhen store to try out some of the Oppo, Xiaomi and vivo smartphones. He wanted to see how they feel in the hand and apparently, he liked what he saw.

As a result Samsung's execs decided to make a small design change that will delay the launch day by approximately two weeks. So instead of launching in July, it should be unveiled at the beginning of August.

The Vice Chairman asked for a reduction in front glass thickness by 0.5mm and considering that the Galaxy Note9's initial glass was around 1.5 mm thicker than its predecessor's, the change would be pretty prominent. Plus, it might have something to do with the much-anticipated in-display fingerprint everyone is so hyped about. The reduced thickness should, in theory, allow for better fingerprint performance.

I decided to go what the hey, I'll just get the 3GB Ram version of the Nokia 6.1 NA Variant, but I can't even find that anywhere that isn't Amazon or overpirced on Ebay. A store here in NY sells the Latin America version of it (which supports T-Mobile LTE bands) but that device wouldn't be covered by the 2 year warranty they provide. (According to me chatting with a Nokia CS rep, they really recommenced me to get a NA version.)

Aside from the new budget line refresh announcement they just had, has anyone heard of any news at all about Nokia in the US? Are they restocking, considering releasing more models in this territory? Or like...anything that isn't in the usual fall release timeframe? Hah.

Would it be worth getting a OnePlus 5T now instead of a 6 if I don't want to spend more than $500 on a phone?

I have a Nexus 6P right now and I think it's trying to tell me it's time for a new phone.

I'd think so. There's one in great condition going for $405 on Swappa right now.

Saw this on my news feed today:

http://flip.it/OEjwjj

If the note 9 is only a marginal increase from the s9, would I benefit from waiting for it vs getting a note 8? Or would the s9 improvements be worth waiting for in the note 9? Figured you guys would know better than me since I'm still stuck in note 5 land lol.

Best smart watch. Samsung pay on any android. Multiple day battery.

Wish it supported gpm.

Best Android watch for functionality and normal tasks. If you can get it on sale, which it is all the time, then it' d a good buy. The next one is rumored to come with Wear OS though. Not sure if that is worth waiting for.

i have the Gear S3 Classic.

it's amazing.
Thanks. Think I'm going to pick one up with the S9+. I've put off buying a new phone for months now, can't wait any longer. There's a deal for the S9+ and the S3 on Samsung's website, think I'm finally going to pull the trigger

Greece
OPPO heading back to Europe, first stops France, Italy and Spain:

Good. Oppo needs to find its way to Greece as well, I like what I have seen from their portfolio, and from the few models I have put my hands on, they are like Meizu. Great build quality compared to Xiaomi for the price range, cameras as well, and their custom Android UX is not so heavy yet is more intuitive then even the juggernaut brands. If cheap Oppos can finally be an option for me, I would jump on it in a flash.

A Note with an in display FPS and a good battery is endgame material for me
The stylus is more useful to me than a triple camera or the extra smoothness of a one plus

I think that the phone market will be more and more boring, they need to come up with new concepts. A slightly better camera and a more efficient SOC is not enough. And now we have the notch and they killing the headphone jack as innovation ... Jesus

I sold my Honor V10 for 220€. I will never ever touch a Huawei again

Nice, that's the first thing I've heard that makes me want to get a smart watch.

How much does the S3 go for on a good sale? I see theyre about $300 on Amazon now. Do any if the cheaper watches have Samsung Pay (and don't generally suck)?

nope. seems like hints of a s4 this year?

You definitely should be able to find it cheaper. I got mine open box at best buy for like $260 over a year ago.
