Something feels a bit wrong. I died TWO TIMES to the Taurus demon, by getting "stuck" on his head and then he threw me off and I landed in the corner next to the stairs - stuck. Wtf. I killed him without doing the jump attack now, but that never happened in the original - at least to me.

Happened to me once. You can run through his legs. The easiest but most time consuming way to ensure you beat him is to aggro him, do your first plunge, and the run through his legs/around him to get to the mid point of the bridge. Have him chase you back and then run back to the ladder when he starts an attack animation. Rinse and repeat 3-4 times and keep going.

Playing DS2: Scholar of the First Sin this evening, i ordered it for cheap after finishing DS...it holds up way better than i remember honestly. i only knew the normal version but the Scholar version is also smooth 60fps and the game is kind of cool after 4 years pause, DS:Remastered tempted me to give it a shot again and here i am, hacking my way through the lost bastille. fun game in its own right and lots of variety.
and i freaking love the Majula hub and the music that plays there .-) beautiful haunting place that is.

Majula is incredible. DS2 gets a lot of shit, much deservedly, but I still really love it.

I want to believe some bosses are lose based , like the final boss on Demon and in DS1, Bed of chaos and pinwheel

Man, this is bullshit. The black bow of Pharis NPC suicide dropped, I quit and reloaded didn't respawn and the drop wasn't there. Anything I can do?

This happened to me as well

The items weren't there when I initially reloaded, but they appeared on the ground a few hours later when I returned to the area

I'm not sure if there's anything specific I did to trigger this

Going through Blight Town for the first time. If I would describe the exploration part of the game in one gif, it would be this one:

giphy.gif

The good news is I got the Iaito, but I'm missing 4 Strength to wield it one-handed. I've been using a Rapier as backup weapon for whenever my Bandit Knife doesn't cut it (mostly against bosses), but I'm not too keen on its playstyle. The Iaito looks like a cool replacement.

Just got to Pinwheel and put him to sleep. Then I died and lost all my souls, then went to get them and died straight away again.

Awesome

I'm thinking of picking up vanilla DkS2 and the DLC to see what that was like (I finished SotFS earlier this year). Majula is the best hub. It feels instantly nostalgic, even the first time you get there, like you can smell the ocean and feel the breeze on your face. It felt so good to go back there after a long and difficult session.

So based on yesterday's Digital Foundry video, I bought the Xbox One version of Dark Souls Remastered for Xbox One X.

They showed the X1X is the only console that truly maintains a locked 60fps and the parts that stress the engine the most are now, the boss battles.

Well, this gif is amazingly on point.

Is Pinwheel like the greatest troll move in the game, by the way? I still don't get what they were going for there, it just feels like free souls and a big anticlimax after a very engaging bit of tomb raiding.
I always figured they designed him as an early game boss since you can go straight to the catacombs.
But outside of really particular needs/planning, does anyone go there early enough for him to even BE a fight? even in my great scythe run, I was in and out once I got my shit, I pretty much never even reap the benefits of rite of kindling so it seems like an odd thing to go down there early on in the game and endure WHEEL SKELETONS just to kill him and then have to climb all the way back out again.

Basically this is a long way of me saying I've always just fought him post Anor Londo which just makes him a tragic encounter.
That feel when the mook versions of the boss before Nito are probably more threatening if only because the numbers game.

I'm so sorry.

I decided to go straight to the catacombs to get me a fire scythe. I was sooo happy to see a bonfire near Vamos that I immediately sat down.

Took me 3hrs to get out of the catacombs...

2hrs of that was trying to find away out because I didn't activate any of the bridges and died every 5min exploring to find a way out.

Been playing the whole week tho and almost got the Platinum again, just need Miracles and Special Weapons (which if I remember you can't do til NG++ for all Sif weapons)

Edit: I'll probably just put off the latter trophy for later, cuz I got the DS fever now and want to replay DS3 which I only beat once, or maybe finish BB DLC. Bought it when it came out, but did the chalice dungeons a week or two before and was just tired of the game then (wish I realized that before I bought the DLC lol)

It's good to be back!

I've started a new game and got back to my old pyromancer/tank build: got a uchigatana, turned back, went to the catacombs, turn it into a fire uchigatana (no scaling), got 4 pyro slots and everything else on endurance/health.

Did a lot of coop, A LOT, and tried to stay at a reasonable lvl, however, this weapon lvl sucks... as soon as i enter blighttown i imediatly run to queelag and got a ascended pyro flame, which i love by the way, and i can only imagine what this will do to my matchmaking, currently i have:

fire uchigatana +8
ascended pyromancy flame +5
full knight (not elite) set, torso +8, other pieces +6 (and fast rolling, lol)

Also, when i was running to get my uchi to fire, i forgot about how i was going to go back to firelink and used the Vamos bonfire... God... it was hell going back to the firelink.... (fricking wheel skeletons).

I also quite like the remaster on pc. Despite being simple, it runs at 60fps 1080p (no AA, everything else on) on my notebook (i5 4210m and 960m), which is a pleasant surprise, and i love the visual upgrade.

Edit: what a coincidence, the poster above me knows what i mean about catacomb hell lol

what does upgrading the pyromancy flame to 'ascended' mean?...does it make it more powerful?...is this the best version or should I stick with the +15 version?

This game is so bad for my heart. I can't bear the suspense of not knowing what's lurking around each corner. The dark and claustrophobic environments aren't helping at all.

But! That's why I am determined to see my journey through this time around. Gotta face your fears and all that. And despite the constant dread I admit I am having fun.

next time just relog and the items will appear on the spot where the chatacter usually is standing, works in a every single souls game, bloodborne included.

Finally in Anor Londo !! Tho i have to go back to get some Titanite Slab and Demon Titanite to upgrade Gravelord Greatsword to +5. Any good place to farm Demon Titanite i'm missing 1 to be able to upgrade my weapon of choice to +4. I know i can get a slab in Undead Asylum, but first i need to figure out how to get back there :D

What is the significance of the Vagrants? I stumbled upon one before Capra Demon and just murdered it without a second thought.

They appear in a world when another character died and wiped their bloodstain which had a lot of humanity, or failed to pick up an item that was placed down. Killing them nets you some items or humanity.

First thing I did in Majula was to commit suicide by jumping into the ocean behind the death count pillar. The amazing thing was that a players ghost showed up right beside me, jumping into the sea as well.

Died to it 15 times on my first character in this remaster, after beating it countless times in the past and knowing the gimmick.
Died about 6 times on my second character. Still just as infuriating either way.

I'd like to quote Jim Sterling on this, though regarding another aspect of the game; "They had 7 fucking years to fix this"
Considering the director publicly apologized for the boss, you'd think they'd do SOMETHING to make it better. Saving progress between phases wasn't enough.
