They may have actually had projector issues because I didn't have any problems seeing anything. It is not a brightly lit film for sure but the cinematography worked for me.

I personally loved the more washed out, heavy use of shadow cinematography that mimics the OT. But, they aren't wrong about the cinematography in Solo. The movie gets really dark at certain points that you literally can't make out what's going on. I still liked the way the movie looked, but that can't be ignored.

The cinematography was a little boring for me but the coloring was fine. I was okay with all of the silhouette stuff, gave the film a more "dirty" less manufactured feel to it because it was "sloppy" in a sense.

All of the other Star Wars since ROTJ all feel very "sterile" visually to me

Disagree with them saying nothing was in there to show Lando was pansexual. I went in expecting there to be nothing, instead I got a Lando that flirts with Han and gets caught doing it and has a possibly sexual relationship with a robot.

Also 26 minutes without Mike mentioning Star Trek has to be some sort of record.

Rich's gaming opinions might be seeping into his moviebrain.

This movie looks brown, dark, and murky just from the trailers alone.

I didnt pick up on him flirting with Han at all. They felt adversarial the whole time.

I think it's probably a case of if you're looking for it you'll find it

I like to think Rich's cynicism just came full circle, and now he's just tired of being overly critical and just wants to enjoy things for what they are.

I'm matching Rich pretty closely. Losing most of my interest in Star Wars, I was pleasantly surprised by Solo. It was a good time.

Yea, I really only hated the "wink-wink" stuff or stuff that was really stupid like the need to give the "Solo" name it's own backstory. As it's own plot it was okay. The only thing that didn't work for me is that you are supposed to get this deep emotional connection between Han and Qi'ra. He gives her the dice and is thinking about her for three years straight to rescue her. But I am thinking something happens in the next 5 years where he doesn't think about her again and pop culture accepts Leia as the iconic pairing.

I thought Woody Harrelson's character was very sympathetic.

He warns Han right off the bat that being a smuggler is rough and if he meets with Paul Bettany he is in the life for good. Han begs to be taken along and forms most of the plan to get the hyperfuel. Harrelson made a deal with Bettany and intended to follow through with it. Han takes it on the girl's word that she is going to start a rebellion. Harrelson probably wanted revenge for the death of his lover and alien friend. The only really weird part is that when they realize the real hyperfeul is in Bettany's office Harrelson just leaves the three of them there to sell the stuff for himself. It seemed more in character for him to kill Han and secure himself a spot in the higher ranks of Bettany's syndicate. Or at least kill everyone in the room so he could just take the ship.

Doesn't anyone think the dice is weird because Leia ends up with it and it's something Han used with a previous relationship?

Also where did the dice even come from. We must know.

The stupidest part was definitely the "solo" last name being given to him by some imperial guard and the "we gotta give you a nickname" to Chewbacca

Their constant dunking on Last Jedi seems so so pandering to the Last Jedi hate mobs seeing as their actual Last Jedi review wasn't even that negative.

I just watched the critters video. I didn't think I had seen any of those movies, but oh god. I saw critters 4 when I was a kid on HBO or something. When they showed clips all these memories came flooding back like a fever dream. I had almost completely forgotten about it. Man that was weird thinking about that movie. Figures I've only seen the worst of that franchise lol.

In non-Star Wars news I hope we get a Ocean's 8 HitB. I know Mike is a fan of the franchise and Jay hasn't seen any of them. Maybe even a Re:View of Ocean's 11.

Ocean's 8 looks fun, but I did laugh a little when I realized the studio set the title in anticipation of two more sequels. Not as audacious as the Universal monster... universe? but the hubris is a little funny to me

Also I hate to admit it, but I kinda wanna see Upgrade

I love how Rich and Mike were in a similar camp to me with Solo of "i can't believe this, but i actually liked it as a whole even with issues"

I came in prepared to dislike it. I too wish it had been funnier though. Is Jay not able to love?

at this point as long as a BotW has Mike OR Rich it's still going to be top tier. But Mike and Rich play so well off each other that it's a shame when they aren't together.

I for some reason decided to check out the YouTube comments for their new video. So cringey seeing people recycle the same copypaste crap ("I have friends for another hour!").

Awesome vid though. Kill Squad looked legit entertaining.

I need to see Ryan's Babe. Looks like a trainwreck.

Also, Last Vampire on Earth is up on Prime. Hopefully they keep filtering in the BotW content.

who else in here doesnt like the little celebratory dance to the euro sounding techno song. Everytime they do it, it feels like they think people do something similar.
