Am I crazy or is Riskrunner just strictly worse than Sunshot and Graviton Lance (the other weapons you can get from the mission that gives you Riskrunner)? You can do a silly amount of damage, but you're reliant on getting hit repeatedly by Arc damage for it to stay online, and even when that's an option (looks at Vex), it's something that can get your ass killed on Heroics.
Pro tip: you can trigger the perk by using friendly arc grenades! That includes your own and your teammates.

Cleared spire on my characters this week. No emote, never lucky

Did you get an engram from the very first chest? Me and my friends have noticed that for some reason, Hunters are not getting an engram drop from the first chest in Spire. Shaders yes, but no engram. Very odd.

I personally liked 4v4 QP more than 6v6 IB. The latter was too chaotic in some of those small maps. Also, spawning into the line of sight of an enemy player or having the opposite team's spawn move on top of me while flanking happened just a little too often.

I agree. I really wanted 6v6 QP, but after IB, fuck it. It just doesn't work in D2. The spawns are horrible, maps aren't designed for it, and it just makes the team shooting worse.

I'm good with 4v4 QP, maybe try 5v5. However, for 6v6 there just needs to be some major overhauls for it to work well in D2.

Hunters are obnoxious. Always hopping and rolling about. Hold still damnit. Titans are chill. But Warlocks are my people. Warlocks are top tier now in PvE.

It depends on what content you're playing. Great for the crucible, public events, and the Exodus crash strike. Yeah, For other strikes , probably not so great. I still need to try it out in arc singe heroics post buff.

Keep in mind you don't need to keep getting hit with arc , a kill refreshes the buff. Of course if the modifier that day is Iron getting those continuous kills may be difficult.

So based on datamining, next week's rally will have 3 Eververse boxes with 3 emotes, one each, specific to the three factions.

Honestly these need to be in the pool for rewards from the activity. This is a bullshit new tactic from Bungie and while I give them the benefit of the doubt on most things, this is not one.

When people said they wanted a way to buy things directly, they did not mean make paying money the ONLY way to get them.

At the very least, we should be able to earn them. If people wanna pay for it, so be it. But putting activity related vanity items exclusively behind a paywall is really scummy. If they were just random emotes, whatever. But there is no reason why an Iron Banner emote or Faction related emotes cannot be earned in game. Such a stupid decision, whoever is responsible. They need their shit slapped.

If it's just an emote I say they can knock themselves out. I was always under the impression cosmetics and silly shit like that can be bought in games and for me personally If that helps them I say go for it. I draw a line when it'd be something like a weapon or gear, but emotes I just don't see as being a huge deal if a few are only had thru purchase.

If these emotes were just goofs and not tied to the event I'd agree.

IMO they're abusing the playerbase's desire for events to sell event-themed shit in the Shitterverse.

I've always been fine with direct purchases myself. What I hate is gambling MTs, so I've never bought one.

Of course, I also think the last direct purchase emote's problem was the price. 10$ is too much for a pose emote, especially one that uses a sprite instead of a modeled hologram for the shield. Considering you could get almost the entire Thriller choreo as a dance in D1 for 7$.

All catalysts drop at random in different activities. Some in PvE, some in PvP. Huckleberry for instance, exclusively in heroic adventures and Skyburner's Oath only in raids. MIDA apparently only drops in Trials. Crimson, DARCI, Borealis and Tractor Cannon are the most common and easiest to get.

Now, unlocking the actual masterwork benefits is different for each weapon once its respective catalyst is obtained. Vigilance Wing, for instance, requires 5 blood for blood medals and 250 ACTUAL kills (not assists or defeats) with the weapon in non custom matches in PVP. Borealis requires 150 kills for each element, in any activity, for a grand total of 450 kills. As for benefits, the aforementioned Vigilance Wing gets full auto once the master work is complete. Graviton Lance, once it's in game this coming Tuesday, will recieve a boost in range and the perk, Hidden Hand.

Not all catalysts are avaible yet. Bungie is gradually adding them to the game. Your mileage will vary when it comes to getting them. Again, it all depends on RNG. I have gotten six to drop, and have completed five of them. Some players still haven't even gotten one. So best of luck to you and happy grinding :)

So the catylist version of the weapon is the one with the gold boarder around the icon? I thought that was the masterworks version. Basically, how can I distinguish the catylist version from the masterworks version from the standard version?
Could someone be so kind to post a screen shot? Thanks

Think of the catalyst as the "unfinished" masterwork. Once you get the catalyst for that weapon, you then have to fulfill the unique requirements listed for that weapon, in order to unlock the full benefits of that weapon, thus, turning that catalyst into the masterwork. Once the masterwork is fully unlocked, the benefits will be permanent. Even if you delete the weapon and buy it again from your collection, the masterwork is still unlocked and intact.

I posted a screenshot on a previous page of what a finished exotic masterwork looks like. The gold border and ornamentation on the banner appears once the masterwork is fully unlocked and applied.

ZXekGlFh.jpg

The Vigilance Wing catalyst randomly drops in Crucible. Once obtained, you must get 5 blood for blood medals AND 250 kills with the weapon (again, assists, super, grenade and melee kills do not count). This is just for Vigilance Wing. Other weapons have different criteria for their masterwork.

Once that is done, the master work is unlocked and the weapon is increased benefits. For Vigilance Wing, it recieves full auto firing.

Feel free to send me a PM if you have any more questions or need more clarification.

I don't care if they make all of it only purchaseable directly. What I asked for was to remove the randomness from buying something with real money, but instead they kept the gambling and added some gouging. In other words, Bungies patented form of "listening".

I busted my fucking ass for it. About 30 hours in Iron Banner last week. Ended up getting Jade Rabbit catalyst instead (which I'm not gonna bother doing). Luckily, I got the VW catalyst in my first Trials match on Friday night, of all things. I banged out the masterwork yesterday afternoon. Invited clanmates to chat while I just grinded out kills in Quick Play. In a few hours, it was done. Having to get ACTUAL kills is kind of lame since the PvP is designed to facilitate and reward team play and team shooting. Assists don't count unfortunately, which makes the experience really frusturating. They should have made it so you need 300, or even 500 defeated players instead. That would make much more sense, considering the state of PvP. I don't mind grinding, but requirements should fit the activity you must complete them in.

The full auto is nice. Just hold down the trigger and mow shit down.

Dumb question on VW masterwork. The full auto - is it still 5 round burst, you just hold down the trigger now for fully automatic bursts?

I only ask cause I love the VW but will probably never get the catalyst or do the masterwork lol.

Yes, it's still 5 round bursts. It works just like other fully automatic pulse rifles.

Huckleberry is absolutely stupid. Farming the heroic adventures is the only reasonable way to get it. Doing it naturally, as intended would take far too long, since you're limited to how many heroic adventures you can do in a week. Exhaust all of them? Too bad, gotta wait until the next reset. There's an exploit you can do, which allows you to run them over and over again, as many times as you like (or tolerate...hahaha). I ran the same Cabal adventure on Mercury last night for nearly 6 or 7 hours....didn't get the catalyst. Needless to say, I nearly lost my mind.

Yea I agree on price but I easily just passed and couldn't careless now that it's done and gone , infact I haven't even seen a single person use that IB emote so I'm sure many did the same.

Im conflicted about thr emote thing.

Price is whatever, its always better to just be able to buy something outright. And im never even super opposed to mtx, its just something gamers have to deal with now. Its expensive to make games.

But stuff like the iron banner thing, its fine to have it at tess, but still should be a drop through playtime. Be it 1% chance even.

I hit Legend in Valor just now.

Seems like I probably have a couple hours to grind this evening as well, most likely gonna go for that reset/4 powerful gear. It's only 200 points away, and you get a little more points per win once you hit Legend (22 for 1st win, 27 for 2nd, so on).

Was just looking at the top ranked (Xbox) guardian in guardian.gg in Trials ("Diffizzle")
, I have no idea if those actually mean anything, but he runs Mida/Mida Mini. after all this time. And I checked his recent games from like earlier today, that's what he runs. Still. Oddly comforting that you dont really have to chase the meta, I guess, in theory.

How do we feel about only being able to pledge to a single Faction per account starting with this week's Faction Rally?

I guess it will depend on how good or bad the grind is but I am generally against it in general. Limiting players to what they can do on different characters (which are usually different classes) is not something that should be added to the game long after the fact. We've been able to pledge to different Factions since the early days of D1.

Either way, since they are doing three Faction Rallies in Season 3, it's going to be frustrating if the grind is really bad and we're not able to get all the rewards within a week even if we play a lot.

While I agree with you generally. Destiny is very much built around cosmetic rewards. In fact you could argue until very recently with the way the game was structured. It was largely cosmetic incentivization. I think Destiny, with Eververse being so integral to the game itself. (Imagine if they removed EverVerse and all items that ever came from it, would the game still be the same? I don't think so, and it shouldn't matter if it's just cosmetic) That it affects pretty much every aspect. So saying that it's just cosmetic, doesn't really play in these contexts, at least for me.

that shouldnt happen bungie.

i cant for the life of me not understand why bungies maps arent rotated... especially for PVP having 19 maps it's like winning the lottery to play on your favorites ....

its lame time gating one of the worse things bungie does is timegate shit.. i understand it, but id rather put bigger grinds (as in longer) for rewards acutally worth it then just time gate quests... like the lance to me all that shit in the quest wasnt really worth it.. thats a long ass quest made even longer timegating it each week only to finally get it play with it a bit and vault it.
also yeah if its still about 30 tokens to get an engram its gonna be about 1500+ tokens to get max soo i hope max renown gets you 15-20 tokens at atime otherwise is gonna be a long week...
such for me i hate the way hunter DO armor looks plus i may be the only one the doesnt like the graviton... that cat looks good though the gun just shoots waay to slow for me. but 100% DO is gonna win the first rally. so i may just get it to see, if itll make me like the gun more. but i just cant kill shit in pvp with that gun.

It completely depends on whether or not finishing a faction in a week is doable to the average player with the new changes in how you get tokens.

If it's still a grind and requires average players to pledge the same faction all 3 faction rallies - that sucks.

Yes and no for me. While I get its mostly cosmetics it still is ultimately an emote here and there, and I just don't find it to be that detrimental as we all have countless times said that cosmetics is an area where devs can go to do this type of stuff.. But that's just me obviously, I get everyone will see if differently. But I'm glad it's just an emote ultimately.

Yea. That I can personally agree on. I really don't care enough about an emote. And that I think personally. Is the best item they could have for selling independently as they are. Versus armor, which is definitely a larger component, as it can be the archetype people want and look very good. Which while not influencing the game much. Still does considered the structure. The dawning was definitely a low point.

How can I tell if a weapon drops a catylist versions. What difference is there visually on the weapon icon from the masterworks ? I'm confused. Does it look any different?
You'll know when one drops because it will appear on the screen on the right where the engrams and stuff show up when you collect loot. You can't miss it.

The difference is the weapon will be able to start generating orbs. There is no visual icon change until the masterwork catalyst requirements are fulfilled. Then it will also track kills and the UI for the weapon changes a little bit.

You have to activate it on the weapon. It is applied in the same way a Masterwork upgrade for a Legendary or an ornament for an Exotic weapon is applied. If you have the catalyst, you'll see it available in the corresponding slot when you mouse over it.

The only difference is a slight stats boost somewhere and the ability to generate small orbs on multikills.

Some of the stat boosts are quite significant like the range buff to the Merciless (I feel like I'm the only person who got this one as no one talks about it) as it nearly doubles it and the same goes for the stability on it too.

For exotics they are sometimes more substantial yes. I don't have the merciless one so I can't comment. That makes it sound solid for PvP though.
