This trailer actually does a good job of explaining what's going on to people who know zero about spider-man outside of any Hollywood movie he was in.

That CRT horizontal lines effect bothers me more than I'd like to admit.
Looks really off putting.

I'm like opposite to some people here: the stills seem kinda off to me and probably because regardless how big the file, there's still some compression, while in motion it looks absolutely stunning. Easily the most interesting animation style I've seen in a very good while. I'd love to see this actually becoming a thing: Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man 2099, etc..

It's probably a cautionary tale, with bum Peter jaded for something that happened with him - and I bet that this is his timeline's Gwen passing - that affected him more than let's say Miles version of Peter. So while he's not dead, he never lived to its full potential like Miles Peter did.
Cause even the apple trailer is compressed, it feels like, even though it's still the highest quality we got.

we probably won't get raw images until the blu-ray.

God I've been going through the trailer frame by frame. Shit like this is why I love animation. So much of the trailer has shots and scenes that make absolutely no physical sense when you really look at them, but it all looks amazing and comes to make something so beautiful.

I'm glad Sony decided to go ahead with this project. Despite being a superhero movie, it's in many ways super risky. The art style or animation may turn out to be off putting to some audiences, and it's a theatrical animated superhero movie which is a rare breed.

I really hope the project pays off for them so we can see more animated movies of this type.

Ahhh that's right, I forgot they got slammed together after the second Secret wars. Its plausible that they are picking up there. Its just that the here lies spiderman tomb stone in a earlier trailer made me think it was before that event.

unless it was a spoiler and the pete that is talking to miles dies later on in the film. I'm getting excited at the possibilities now lol.
This movie takes place in a completly different universe then the one from the comics.

welcome, nowhere
Not really sure how most of you think this looks so extremely amazing.

While, yes, I will agree that the backgrounds and the designs are pretty good, but the actual animation feels like something from Talltale Games. It's jittery and looks like it's running at 30FPS, while the backgrounds look smooth. Doesn't feel seemless.

It's bizarre.

Also both male voice actors sound bored, almost akin to mumblecore.

The title is from the comics. Spider-Verse basically just means, "Hey, we're going to explore other universe spider people in this".

I also see it as them wanting to make sure people don't connect it with the mainline Spider-Man movie while still screaming, "Hay, I hear you like Spider-Man. Watch this."

Yeah, I get the idea. I just think it sounds dumb.

I mean, it's part of the aesthetic. Having a lot of frames of animation isn't always better.

The animation is also really good like here:

Not a fan of Morales, but holy shit it's animation and art style good.
I hope this success and we get more movies like this.

Also I love the dad.

Having lots of frames of animation tends to work way better with 3D animation even when it's stylized to look like a comic book. And even in this trailer the best looking parts are undoubtedly that parts with more fluid animation. The choppiness is takes away quite a lot from the dialogue scenes imho. There are parts where I thought the audio was taken from different scenes and spliced into that part of the trailer but nope, it was actually the audio and scene. :| On a more positive note, that "I love you" scene is one of the most relatable things i've ever seen in an animated film...EVER. I've had that exact conversation with my mother, so many times as a young teen.

Looks great.

Damn, Christmas is going to be expensive at the movies. Spider-Man, Grinch, and Bumblebee

Does Miles not wear his black suit from the comic books in this movie? It seems like they've changed the logo on the front.

I'm normally not much into multiple Spider-Men either, but I'm okay with Peter Parker and Spider-Gwen appearing. When they reveal the rest I'll see how I react.

As of now, this is still my most anticipated movie. Gonna warm up to Ultimate Green Goblin, and I'm already loving that Prowler is in this. And Kingpin.

Not a Spiderman fan at all....but this looks awesome.

I was a little put off by the animation at first, but then after a second watch...I think they nailed the "hand drawn/painted" look pretty well frames wise.

The visuals are incredible and I love the contrast/colors.

Apple has an uncompressed 1080p upload of the trailer on their site btw. It's fun to scrub through the vid and see all the little details they've packed into the movie

Oooooh. Hadn't noticed it until now, but that taxi is the exact same color as his spider sense in the prior pic. Didn't even realize it, especially with how they've already shown the taxis to be yellow! Damn, that visual consistency is gonna make me wanna watch this multiple times just to pick up on all the little details.

It looks GREAT in still frames, but the janky and jerky animation is really off putting.

When you think of Spider-man, you think of a character with very fluid and graceful motion. Not something animated like the Lego Movie's faux stop animation.

My wife and 9 year old were thoroughly confused about the plot after watching the trailer but thought it looked really cool. I'm thinking the trailer could have been put together better. As a fan of the character myself, I'm not interested in the spiderverse stuff.

From the trailer, it seems peter parker of the Miles Morales universe died and Miles Morales gained superpowers after and being couched by alternate universe Peter Parker who is a bum

Also Spider-Gwen from another universe is there and is a ballerina

Disney isn't making this, and I doubt they want a animated universe, considering all their animated movies do gangbusters anyhow.
This is the same company that is remaking live action versions of their biggest cartoon films. If they buy Fox and gain Blue Sky and this movie is successful, you think they'd just say no to money?

We could finally get a Namor film!
