Finished Siegmeyer's quest tonight. Hit me right in the feels at the conclusion.

Decided to jump into the DLC before finishing the game. It's funny because it reminded me a bit of Bloodborne more than the base game.

As for the bosses, I've beaten them all except Kalameet. Damn that lightning. I'll get it tomorrow I'm sure but that was a challenge.

Manus was a loooong fight. He's aggressive as hell, but imagine my shock and joy at seeing
Sif! I felt bad killing him but the fact that I could bring him back for this fight was great, even if he was only good as a distraction.

I'll most likely finish the game tomorrow having beaten all bosses. It's been a great run and I'm so glad I finally got to play this masterpiece.

Nice job! Dark Souls certainly is not for everyone but it really sets it's hooks deep if it grabs you and I'm glad you have enjoyed the incredible ride this game takes you on...

I'm enjoying my replay of this (only had played it on PC). Having fun after I got used to the speed (just finished Bloodborne before picking this up).

Also, I have killed every NPC except armor guys and Sun dude...hehe... praise the sun!

So is this worth buying for the PC over the original with DSFIX if you don't care about PVP?

So, can we expect mods with the PC version? I haven't looked. Also curious if they'll ban modders, it's not a dead game like the Prepared to Die Edition.

That's my situation, and I don't regret my purchase one bit. Can't see myself going back to PtDE+dsfix ever again, unless I want to mess with other mods and such, like PtDA, etc., but after this marathon, I probably won't. I'll just replay Remastered.

Why though? OP changes listed are 99% Multiplayer changes or consoles related, i didn't read anything regrading PC Version so i don't get it
Does it run better than the older version with DSFIX? Better textures or anything? Atm i was thinking of just playing the original again duo the hackers issue i'm reading about

I was just invaded by a red phantom giant knight in Anor Londo. I have never seen that before. Any one know what's up with that?

Wait, so what's the best weapon for a DEX build? I was using the Scimitar and was finally able to find a Balder Side Sword only to discover that it has the exact same damage and scaling as the Scimitar. Moveset is obviously different, has more reach, and swings slower so I'm not sure which one I prefer. Is there a "better" weapon elsewhere?

Thanks guys :)

No restrictions with passwords. I can summon in Sen's, Forest (Sif area) or at Ceaseless. Or you can summon me wherever is convenient. Password resetera? Meet where?
Are you near the Undead Burg? Stick a sign down at the very beginning and I'll summon you there.

I'll use the password you suggested.

I've been wondering this since Dark Souls 1 but playing remastered is reminding me... Why is it so much easier to kill gank squads solo as an invader in Dark Souls 1 than any other souls game? I'm thinking it might have something to do with poise. I love the wolf ring.

Making my way out of Blighttown eight now. I'll head to the Catacombs bonfire if that's ok? Whoever's closest and playing right now

I'm using the Falchion for my main weapon, as it's quick, has a nice moveset and doesn't consume a lot of stamina. I also have the Iaito as a backup against big mobs with lots of HP (for delicious bleed).

Oolacile Township is a scary place. Those screams in the background, man...

Got to the bonfire in the Oolacile Township at the end of what looks like a prison. Calling it a day here. Tomorrow only Manus and Gwyn remain...

Agreed. Her set is my favorite in the game but I always regret killing her...
I decided not to kill her this time, as I'm already happy with my current gear (Gold-Hemmed Black Hood+Cloak and Black Leather Gloves+Boots). Maybe in NG+.

Depends entirely on what you value most.

If you want damage and range look no further than the Great Scythe or the Murakumo. If you prefer speed over range, try the Painting Guardian's Sword.

Having fun being summoned for the Quelaag fight, even though it's slightly frustrating watching hosts get one-shot by the AoE. Oh well, that's how they learn... and it's still a jolly good time.

When I go dex I usually go Uchigatana, it's "only" 420 AR at 40 Dex and +15 standard reinforcement but I like the moveset, it swings quite fast and it has bleed. Whether that's "better" to you or not I don't know, but I've always enjoyed that weapon.

I'm trying to go for a DEX/MAGIC build for the first time as I've previously just rolled with pure STR or quality (big weapons for big damage). That being said the whole magic/faith side of things is kind of new territory for me in DS1 specifically. Does damage or overall usefulness dramatically differ between INT and FTH magic? It would be cool to be able to utilize both, but I assume the soul level requirements would be sky high to have high DEX,INT, and FTH...

I'm more focused on PVE than anything when it comes to having a good build, but I would also like to properly defend myself if I get invaded lol. For weapons, I planning to mainly focus on Uchi + Great Scythe (I currently have both). I just got to Sen's Fortress.
Faith, Magic and Dex is spreading youself quite thin. I've done faith/magic runs and put more into INT just because that's where your damage is more likely going to come from, there's more attack spells for a start. Faith is like Gravelord Dance, WoG, lightning spears and that's it. You could get creative with Karmic Justice, but it's very situational because not a lot of enemies or bosses hit you enough to set it off.

iirc the Dusk Crown will boost all magic types but the bellowing ring only sorcery and pyros, the miracle boosting ring is at Gwyndolin's bonfire. So better to concentrate on magic earlier and save leveling faith until later game(?)

You could equip the Remedy spell and buy a bunch of dung pies to deal with invaders (evil grin!)

I played with a phantom named Eddard Stark earlier.

He died.

Guys, I'm playing this as my first Souls game and I managed to beat Gargoyles last night. Thing is I'm starting to really like this game, and that makes me want to platinum it, and I usually follow a guide for that. So:

1. Is it to late to start preparing to platinum right now? I know I need multiple playtroughs but AFAIK they get increasingly harder, so perhaps I should try and do what I can right now.

2. Any advice for stats? I've heard all kinds of stuff like push End to 40, push Str to 40 and such. I would like to play with sword most of the time with occasional magic throw or heal, what stats should I go for?

3. Any advice on magic/miracles (no idea if that is the same thing) for a newb.

Yes try and do as much as possible in regular NG as everything hits harder and takes more damage in subsequent NG+ cycles - You need to go to about 40% the way through NG+2 in order to platinum the game. NG+ onwards go much faster than the first playthrough because you're much more powerful and know the layout of the areas too.

Stats - VIT for more HP, End for more stamina - the rest is simply just getting more bonus damage from whatever weapon you're using. Look at the weapon stats screen it gives you a letter grading and a + number at the side of damage numbers, that's the bonus scaling you get from your stats. Say you're using the Claymore, it scales C in both STR and DEX - so leveling up those stats will increase the bonus damage.

Souls doesn't reward spreading yourself too thin with stats, so if you want to use magic too, you won't see much benefit by trying to be high powered in everything. A few pew-pew magic spells and a basic heal miracle only takes a few stat points in INT and Faith respectically, so that won't negatively impact you in any great way - Often people try to min/max specifically for pure pvp, but just for playing the game normal - dumping a dozen or so points into magic stats is fine.

Spells have stat requirements just like weapons do. Example: Heal needs 12 in Faith to equip and use. Spell useage is replenished when you rest at a bonfire, in the same way as Estus. The basic Soul Arrow spell has 30 casts for example.

You'll need a few points in Attunement as well, which increases your number of spell slots (how many spells you can equip at any one time) - 2 or 3 max would probably suit you fine so you can equip a couple of Soul Arrow spells and a heal miracle, you can buy all those very, very early game and can find the equipment (catalyst for magic, talisman for miracles) as free loot also very early.

Thanks a lot mate :)

Another question,
as I've not had any luck in getting black knight weapons, I have a broadsword and longsword in my inventory (and Drake Sword which should be obsolete soon I've been told) and I know where the Claymore is. So which one of these would you recommend me to upgrade?

Whichever one you like best. All weapons are viable in Souls games. People go mad for the black knight weapons because they're strong early on (to the point of being stupidly OP imo) but also slow and need more stat investments to equip than a simple regular sword say.

To me liking the moveset of a weapon is way more important than whatever base damage it does when you pick it up. Upgrading your weapon is about the most important thing you can do - if I had the choice between spending Souls on titanite shards to upgrade a weapon or leveling up a couple of times, I would upgrade my weapon every. time.
