Thread rebooted. An inelegantly phrased post led to a food fight in the previous thread. Some fans of Dontnod really connected with the likes of Max Caulfield, and miss the novelty of a female protagonist. That's nothing worth getting worked up over, and it shouldn't become the focus of the thread. Please keep things civil and on topic.

I'm skeptical but interested. I hated Life is Strange due to how much I utterly despised the characters and writing, but this is giving me a Twin Peaks feel and I'm a sucker for that.

I enjoyed Life is Strange more than I thought I would and the story here is my kind of thing so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

I felt the voice acting was a little weird in this trailer.

I wonder if any of Dontond employees worked on Indigo Prohecy, considering we heard many of them worked at Quantic Dream before. I see a little bit of similarity between the two games but it's too little info to compare at this point.

I enjoyed Life is Strange despite having issues with most of the characters and the story. I also bought Remember Me, and LiS was clearly the better experience. I feel like they're close to achieving what I feel like they're capable of, and I'm looking forward to this.

I should say I haven't played Vampyr yet which I've heard a lot of good things about

Wow DONTNOD has two teams? Man, they are starting to grow.
Three teams. They've had two for a while (most of the studio on Vampyr, while a small one worked on Life is Strange/Life is Strange 2) but have apparently expanded enough that they can support a third one on this.

It looks pretty cool, though it's not quite a day one for me yet. I need to see more.

DONTNOD is day one to me. I love what they're doing with the success they found in Life is Strange.

Basically, not going the Telltale route, and just making the same experience over and over. They're actually trying different things, at higher budgets, and even playing with RPG systems and combat in Vampyr's case. They're using their success to find business opportunities to realize their creative visions, instead of just going for the safe money.

All of that while also still making a straight sequel, for the people who loved Life is Strange.

They deserve their success, and are shaping up to be a very important figure in the AA space.

Said this before the thread was rebooted, but this is basically what I hoped a Life is Strange 2 would be, so the fact that I get what I wanted and will still have whatever they're making for Life is Strange 2 is fantastic.

Vampyr wasn't my cup of tea, this looks closer to what I expect from DONTNOD.

Looking forward to it.

More information on DONTNOD website http://dont-nod.com/en/news/
Twin Mirror showcases a player-driven experience featuring a malleable narrative that chronicles the journey of a tormented hero who must walk a tightrope between the harsh realities of the film noir-esque Basswood, West Virginia and its dark secrets, and his own personal struggle.
"Twin Mirror is a game heavily rooted in the concept of duality, redemption and self-acceptance and is on track to deliver a stunning emotional journey" said Oskar Guilbert (DONTNOD's CEO). "While we were scripting the player's investigations within the game, we suddenly found ourselves researching just how far the limits of the Narrative Adventure genre could be pushed in the real world. When the dust settled, all evidence pointed towards Twin Mirror being a genre-re-defining experience. Now, we can't wait to see how the players react when all the pieces of their investigation fall into place within the game."

Players will assume the role of Sam, a 33-year-old investigative journalist who suffered a harsh breakup he's desperately trying to overcome, returning home to bury an old friend. As Sam wakes up one morning in his motel room with a bloody shirt and no memories of his whereabouts the previous night, he embarks on a thrilling investigation to find the truth, with his mind as his only weapon. Twin Mirror offers the ability to dive into Samuel's painful memories to personally and uniquely shape the investigation through a series of gut-wrenchingly impactful choices, each bringing the player one step closer to discovering both the truth, and their place in the world.

"Now more than ever, gamers are seeking out narrative journeys that not only progress the story in a particular direction but force them to make difficult moral decisions that impact the outcome in real, dramatic ways." said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc.

"Twin Mirror is our first entry into the world of Narrative adventures, and by partnering with the creative artists at DONTNOD, we are working to create a title that not only meets and exceed the high standard they've set but forms the foundation for new and compelling narrative adventures in the years to come." Adds Hervé Hoerdt, Vice President of Marketing & Digital at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe.

Twin Mirror will be available in 2019 for the PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One, and STEAM for PC.

Definitely can't say I see the Twin Peaks vibe others apparently see. Reminds me more of QD games, specifically Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy

Holy shit, getting intense Indigo Prophecy vibes. Hopefully this ends up more like the first half of that game than the second...

Dontnod are shaping up to be among my favorite AA developers. Life is Strange is fucking amazing, and I enjoyed Remember Me quite a bit too. Just bought Vampyr too, but haven't started it yet.

As long as I'm not a zombie fighting alien AIs at the end, I'm in. Dontnod makes games that I end up liking a lot more than I expected, and I trust them to keep doing that.

Terrible voice acting is hurting this for me. It feels like it's from 2 generations ago.

Twin Mirror Peaks looks good, right Zach?

Almost looks too much like the start of Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit.

If DONTNOD is doing their take on Indigo Prophecy, I hope they can stick the landing, unlike how Indigo Prophecy went completely off the fucking rails.

I'm intrigued. Voice acting seemed a little off to me in the trailer, though.

I'll keep my eye on this, because I desperately want more narrative-driven games along the lines of Life is Strange, but that game's ending kinda ruined the whole thing for me so it's hard to say that this excites me. The trailer also felt a bit bland to me.

The MC looks very generic. But it's from Dontnod, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I want to be excited for this, but I keep getting distracted by how much the guy looks like Shawn Ashmore and his Quantum Break model.

I loved both LiS and BTS, but DONTNOD (yes I know Decknine did BTS) really deserves a better animation budget to match their story telling abilities. The animators are clearly doing what they can with the allotted time frame/budget, but man does a lot of the movement look stiff. And everyone has that dead-faced look to them a lot of the time.

To shed some lights on Dontnod, roughly:
After Remember Me, a select few in the studio set out to do a game to expand the memory rewind sequences from RM, which many felt felt was the best part of the game. After a lot of trouble finding a publisher that led to Life is Strange. Since that was so successful, that small team started working on LiS2.

The Remember Me team, mostly intact, went on to do Vampyr with Focus. We don't know what their next project is.

The third team, working on this, is a complete mystery. No idea who is involved there.

And they have yet another project with a secret publisher.

It does look a little goofy at times, but so did Life is Strange and ultimately I loved it for that and how DONTNOD's sincerity shone through it. I'm in.
