I would say don't underestimate how big of a deal the changes in April were. The incentives of early access to so many shows at $5 and exclusives at $1 really is enough to get those people who were on the fence to go for it and become a patron.
It could only be the Early Access stuff, as crazy as it sounds to me, sounds like people really wanted exclusive stuff and early access to shows.
The fact that they've managed to almost get back to where they were before the usual monthly dip a week ago is a very encouraging sign. And this is before E3. Hopefully they go into full plug mode and shill the living crap out of the Patreon URL during their live streams.
That betting special is just another sign to me that these cats continue to grow in the most exciting ways, creatively speaking. They've found their groove and deserve to finally have a space to truly call their own.
lolThat betting special was EXCELLENT, so many great moments. I liked the "game show" approach honestly, more streamlined and better structured than last year's.
I need Ultima Brad to win, two weeks of Poptart the Clown would be hilarious!

The Betting special Intro was amazing! especially with the 8-bit feel and Rainy Day Ian's Anime transformation.
I think the reason why Ian didn't chose to have Brad do the Kingdom Hearts thing is because He knows Brad would be to excited to do it.Ian should've asked for Brad to do the ending of a Kingdom Hearts game. Every character, every line, played by Brad.
Alsosurprise Barlog wowa
I imagine it's the reactionsthat are meant to be fun.Ian's stakes are fun and inventive but not sure what the payoff would be for the viewers. I think that's something they need to think about when coming up with them.
To me that's what Box peek is. A 10 episode epic bonus bitThe segment at the end of the Betting Special really makes me pine for The Final Bosman (cursed phrase) and its bonus bits, because Kyle totally wrote that out.
You know I kinda wish these final bets would stop being so ridiculous.Very respectable final bet from Ian but an interesting twist he threw at the end - "playable by the time we do the results show".
And they're filming a frame trap today that'll be up this weekend for early access and Monday for others! This week has been crazy with EZA content, kudos to the team! But I want to give a special shout out for Damiani with another fantastic Friend Code and the Game Sleuth. Going the extra mile with that RE2 hoax.
Since they mentioned two Sleuths were in works, wonder if the next one also has something to do with RE or EGM?
What's that background humming noise during the podcast btw? Fans?

2 frame traps in a week's time!
It's on the website schedule and earlier today I was watching the Huber weds stream archive and mentioned he was on it and they're recording Friday (so today)Whoa, when was this confirmed? I assumed it would just be Noodles and Broth.

Same. Last Guardian and Shenmue 3 were at least somewhat likely back when they were the final betsYou know I kinda wish these final bets would stop being so ridiculous.
There was nothing realistic about Shenmue 3. And even then they'd add so many additional details to even when they happen they don't winSame. Last Guardian and Shenmue 3 were at least somewhat likely back when they were the final bets
Betting Shenmue 3 in 2014 was in absolutely no way more realistic than each company having a shadow drop lolSame. Last Guardian and Shenmue 3 were at least somewhat likely back when they were the final bets

I remember there being a lot of hints for Shenmue back in 2014/2015 from Mark Cerny and Yu Suzuki having GDC talks where they'd talk about a possible 3, Yu Suzuki directly bringing up he was considering kickstarter for Shenmue 3, Suzuki teasing heavily he was appearing at E3 for a big reason, etc. Granted I'm not saying it was seen as a sure thing, it just seemed more reasonable to me than some of the other final bets lately considering there was a least rumors around it.Betting Shenmue 3 in 2014 was in absolutely no way more realistic than each company having a shadow drop lol
And I'm saying there was still nothing realistic in having Shenmue 3 as a final bet. Yea the game creator said he wanted to make the game. He's been saying that for years and years and years. That wasn't a new thing. There was no way Sega would make it and it seemed even more absurd Sega would loan it out to another small studio....for a kickstarter. Like I can't think of any other instance where that has happened before or since.Yu Suzuki was absolutely stating his intentions to make a new Shenmue game as long as he got funding, and re-iterating that it was intended as a 4 part story as early as 2014 during interviews and GDC talks. Sony confirmed The Last Guardian was still in active development in February of 2015 after they re-registered the lapsed trademark, and Ueda himself said it was progressing only a couple of months earlier. Neither of those bets were that wild, what was wild was them being in the same conference lol
Yu Suzuki always stated he wanted to keep doing Shenmue though. The mentions of all the chapters and stories exist since forever. Thinking Shenmue 3 - the third part of a ridiculously niche Sega exclusive game with a 2nd part that barely existed in the US (OG Xbox rerelease only), one of the most expensive games of its time, about slow exploration and discovery with a young japanese dude walking around China, after its author was thought not to be at Sega anymore (the owners of the rights) - had hints of existing in 2014 because of a GDC talk, is just... Use the 2011 Mega64 skit as evidence, too, I guess.
It's saying like a Chrono sequel was likely in 2009 because of this, or heck, saying it's more likely in 2018 because of the Steam port. Or that a Namco x Capcom port/remaster was going to be released outside Japan after Project X Zone 1 and 2. It's the prequel, after all!
Shenmue was 100% dead. As is, nowadays Super Monkey Ball, Samba de Amigo, Fantasy Zone or Space Channel 5. They still get referenced/rereleased in a somewhat regular basis. Still not getting a new game.
Suzuki teasing heavily he was appearing at E3 for a big reason, etc.

...snipped irrelevant condescension...
And I'd content Dark cloud 3 is in TLG territory. Kyle's final bet wasn't just it'd reappear but he said they'd say the release date and maybe something else. Dark cloud 3 isn't a stretch IMO. The devs that made it are still around, they made a No no kuni 2 just recently. Its not an absurd prediction IMO. Only thing that makes it absurd is it being on PC since Sony owns the IP
I don't think there's a specific Chim saga video, but FarisR did a bunch of Best of E3 videos and linked to the specific Chim sections:Did anyone make a "Chim saga" video last year that recaps all of the Chim segments of their E3 streams?
