Started a game of Dark Souls 3. I still hope for a full remake. The QoL stuff in DSIII is so nice. Plus they'll get to fix the second half of the game!

You're using the pillars to separate yourself from them, right? If Ornstein attacks me, I usually stay behind a pillar and try to bait Smough to get into a more advantageous position for me. Just make sure you're not physically hugging the pillars so their weapons hit you through them. As for Super Ornstein, I just roll towards most of his attacks. Roll away twice when you're sure its the spear attack that grabs you. Hug his legs and stay behind him. Not locking on can help with positioning. What weapon are you using? Anything that causes bleed can help.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm doing. I don't think I'm doing too little damage. It's the small mistakes when evading Ornstein that foil my tries. They sure punish those hard.

Kindle that bonfire to +10 too.

They are next for me I think -.-

Yeah I got a kindled bonfire I'm using.

Does PvE sin carry over? Should I kill all NPCs right before going to NG+? Getting mixed messages from google.

Been a long time, O&S, good to see I still have your number. I had forgotten had bad Anor Landor archer were. Tied a few times until I worked out what to do. My memory fails me at times and knows exactly what to do at others.

Regardless, having a great time revisiting this game with the remaster.

It doesn't.

Murder away. Get those tasty Firekeeper Souls.

Was doing part of my NG+ run today. Went into Darkroot. Got invaded a few times. Took out multiple invaders with pyromancy. Feels good. There was even a point when I had two invaders coming at me and I took them both out at the same time with Fire Tempest

Just lost like 90K souls because I got sloppy and got stunlocked by like 5 bonewheel skeletons. Deeeeeeeeeeep breath. Guess I'll camp outside a boss door for a while to earn back everything I lost. After some whisky however...

Last night I lost 300k and 8 Humanity to the Pinwheel cosplayers outside Nito.

Good thing I was on my 3rd glass of bourbon by that point. I wasn't even mad.

Bought it today and I got bored after an hour. I put over 100 hours on BB and DS3. I just can't get used to the slow and clunky gameplay of 1.

Dark Souls: may lead to alcoholism

Those fucking skeletons are some of the biggest assholes in all of gaming. They shouldve come up with a Father G style unique item for them in the form of a stick you jam in their spokes.

Edit: Shit wait...they wheel themselves, sticks won't even work :/

I don't know man I guess I got spoiled since I played those games first. This just feels super slow to me. And feels dated. It's pretty easy though I beat the first two boss and up to the dragon. Compared to bb or ds3 it's much easier in the beginning. I have died legitimately once. All the others I fell from the wall or didn't notice the dragon breath.

Yes, it is slower and older but you 'aint seen nothing yet' . It is worth the effort to go though, but I would say take your time, explore, and don't use a guide. this is one of the best games of all time, but a big part of it is not being spoiled. It simply makes it too easy.

Well yes, the game didnt aged well, still fun but I understand you could get spoiled by the faster movement of BB

I admittedly did the quitting thing today, but I was trying to kindle a bonfire and it went out before I finished kindling. Screw it, you can come for my blood when I'm done with this crap.

I did go offline afterwards, finished that up, then go back online, got invaded, and ran with it. Person was even kind enough to let me kill off the giant at Sen's Fortress before fighting with me (and I didn't bother healing/using indictments as a thanks of sorts.)

I'm confused. I got to a part in Darkroot Garden or whatever where 4 NPC characters hanged up on me, including sorcerers and knights and translucent guys. Did I screw something up and this is the forest hunter covenant after me? I wanted to talk to the cat that lets me in the covenant, but these dudes are wrecking me. Tell me I don't have to go pay for absolution when I never betrayed anyone in the first place.

They're always hostile the first time, don't worry. The only way to not aggro them the first time is if you enter through the other path, via the ladder near the hydra, and reach Alvina from the other side. If you used the Crest of Artorias and enter from that door the first time, those hunters will attack you. Kill them, then talk to Alvina. They'll respawn (except those using the Ring of Fog for some reason) and won't be hostile anymore.

I was entering the ladder way, but never saw Alvina. Hmm. Maybe I should look up where he/she is.

Right. I need a break.

The bonfire is right after the third and last set of blades. This set is the trickiest, it looks like you have to rush past in 1 go but actually there's enough room to pause after the first set.

A nice clue and something I missed originally is that you can actually hear the bonfires (specially with headphones) so you know it's gotta be near.

I don't have an issue with Blighttown, I didn't find it that bothersome the first time around apart from the FPS but I have it down now. Spider Shield, Thief set and Rusted Iron Ring do wonders.

Well, I got gud (or lucky) and made it to the top. Got the bonfire, the cage key, freed Logan, and unlocked the shortcut that takes you from the bottom to the top.

I hope all your stats are re-allocated into Resistance upon return when you are a DCer/quitter after getting invaded.

Invaded someone last night who had a phantom summoned. Proceeded to kill the phantom and then chased them round Anor Londo. After a while, he summoned another phantom - who I killed as well. (I'm not great, just got lucky.) Then got the message that he had disconnected from the world.

Of course it happened then...

The invasions in this game are extremely annoying, as I knight build I am constantly invaded my magic users who just one-shot me. Never had this problem in BB or DS3

Going through it again, I am realizing how annoying the long route into Blighttown is.

Is this the route coming from the Depths?

I've never played the game before until the remaster, and if this is the above route, I'm currently slogging my way through this route through Blighttown. It's made me take a little bit of a break from the game.

It's annoying when I need to buy items and I need to go all the way back. One feature from the other DS games and BB that I miss. You have to go get the Lordvessel before you can teleport between bonfires :/

Grinding levels so that I can wield the Cursed Greatsword of Artorias and enter New Londo. I'm enjoying the game – not nearly as much as Dark Souls 3 though. I'm glad that was my first experience with Dark Souls.

The most annoying thing about this game (at the moment) is the fact that I can only teleport to certain bonfires. What's the point of that? It makes backtracking such a slog. Dark Souls 3 encouraged you to explore every nook without having to spend most of it backtracking. Wish they would just patch in the ability to teleport to more of them.

Man, I feel so ashamed. My PvP game is garbage right now. I have been easily murdered during every PvP encounter. I've always been more of a PvE person, but wow...

This is one of my favourite things about the game.

It makes you really appreciate the level design and the reward of warping when you finally get it. The other games in the series just feel so much more linear with warping from the start.
