Dante's pretty much had a redesign with every game - I'm fine with nu-Nero. All he really needs is a full moveset/devil arms.
I admit I liked her design quite a bit back then, but right now it only reminds me of DMC2. And she has the personality of wet paper, which is unsurprising in a game where even Dante is dull.
Okay, here's my thoughts collected: not a huge fan of the aesthetic. I think the way the RE Engine renders things is just not something I enjoy. Photogrammetry is not something I'd want for the series. I'm sure the game will be fantastic and fun, but the grungy visual aesthetic just kinda lost me a bit.

Also third character doesn't seem to be Vergil like I detailed.
This looks amazing. I'm not sold on Nero's design but the fact that he is the main character makes me so happy.

For real. No more "if it is not at E3 it will be at TGS and if it isn't at TGS it will be at the next E3." Ten years, damn. The first DMC got me back into gaming. My then boyfriend got it and hated it. I was bored one day and decided to give it a go. Stayed up the entire night and fell in love.

I'm on the fence about a lot of the non-gameplay elements we've seen, but the environments are the one thing I'll straight-up say look bad. Makes the levels in 4 look like the original DMC.
People are complaining about this game where you can surf your own detachable rocket arm and you fight a boss with a giant mouth in his belly who feeds himself cars and spits out fireballs.
Well shit. The fact that it's a realistic possibility is what I love about this series.
Dante jumps off, puts it on his damn shoulder and starts blasting explosive tires out of it.
I would def like to see more memorable environments out of the series. Most of it the levels between the 4 games kinda blend together since they never pushed the gothic arch to its extreme.

It seems people are mad because DMCV borrows some of its aesthetic from DmC. It's literally the only thing DmC does better than the original series. We don't need another tired-ass gothic setting for the series, like seriously. DMC4, while great, is a very bland-looking game.
And Nero has his own identity rather than looking like "slightly different Dante/Vergil."
If you actually look at the gameplay snippets in the trailer, it looks just like old-school DMC. There's nothing to fear here.
It's not a reach no but the second Capcom says "this game is made with RE engine" should be a major indication that the characters are gonna be photorealistic.
Or maybe you can wait until they show more (ie gameplay) before going all Doom and Gloom?

Did anyone say that? I think the idea is to remove the anime in everything they can, while still being an anime game at heart. I like this approach, because it looks like a Hollywood movie I'd actually want to see.
I think the anime art flourishes of the prior games weakened the action and cutscenes a bit. When I see Nico spinning around in a van, catching a cigarette in her mouth, it looks like an insane stunt.
Those faces look incredibly lifeless compared to the ones in this trailer so....
