I ALWAYS BELIEVED! :D So glad! It looks cool, goofy, cheesy aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah so great!

If that is base console footage, they really need consider making a Monster Hunter game on the RE Engine ASAP, because what an engine.

Dragon's Dogma, you're next.

They've re-released it each of the previous games.

It has aged but saying it's bad is just wrong.
It's an action game with
-fixed camera angles which change up your control if you slightly move
-three bosses that are repeated multiple times
-awful platforming sections and backtracking
-underwater section which controls even worse
-starfox 64 level as the final boss
-cringey dialogue and has nightmare. Worst boss in the entire series

Game is bad by today's standards. It might have pioneered the genre, but it's been outclassed by almost every single action game afterwards.

None, the story of the series is bad with very little when it comes to world building.

Don't you think DmC's story is unironically good?

The stories in the game are corny nonsense. And DMC 1 and 2 are bad games. I would just play 3 and 4 and read summaries of the first two games.

hey look, more nuclear takes

The chronological order is 3 -> 1 -> 4 -> 2. Definitely play 3 & 4, maybe play 1 if you want, & read a summary of 2's story.

this. absolutely need to play DMC3 and 4. 1 is optional. Avoid 2 at all costs.

From the footage it's running at the same speed as base DMC4 (looking at Red Queen timings).

I hope it has Turbo Mode.

People here have such a strange idea about... aging.

He has a beard.

He clearly is not elderly.
Before, he looked elegant and ageless. Almost like a vampire, or an elf in LOTR. Now he has a large nose and looks pretty scragly and busted. He looks like a normal human. Maybe that's what people mean. It's a huge change.

I'd say that at least DMC3 has a good character arc with Dante
I mean, it's kind of cliche to a fault but presented better than it's peers.

I fail to see your point on the person vs video game character part. Also, I actually carried guns that way (pointing at the crotch) when I was a child playing cowboys and robbers, and I certainly wasn't trying to be sexy or slutty haha

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one.
People equating guns with literal tattoos as if dev intent doesn't exist. Wew lad.

Dunno what to tell you. Clearly, others are disagreeing with you on this too.

I'm a bit underwhelmed. I'm not a fan of the art style and I'm not sure how I feel about old man Dante, but I'm mostly underwhelmed by the gameplay that was shown. It looked so stiff to me. It didn't look as fast as it could have. That one arm attack where he punches or crushes or counters or whatever and leaves a purple claw effect looked bad to me.

So yeah imo :

End of DMC2 (The latest episode in chronological order) : After beating Argosax, the portal Dante used to teleport into the Demon Realm is gone, which means he's stuck here, with his motorcycle. He's probably gone crazy during that time, getting stuck for years, until the Demon Invasion, when he can finally go back to Earth, that probably explain why he looks like that in the DMC5 trailer (Way much older, tired)

I guess Vergil escaped from the Demon Realm during the fight between Argosax or Dante, or even later, and took care of Nero's Arm by cutting it.

Or maybe Vergil escaped from the Demon Realm with the Invasion too ?

He does look like he in his 70s. If you're middle aged and look like that, then sorry but you aged badly. Just like DMC 1. :]

What the hell did you do to my boy Nero!?!?!? Why does he look so ugly now??? What is this ''art style''????
He's now sexually attractive.

The one good thing in DmC over normal DMC was that Dante was actually hot for once in that, despite being just an awful character. I'm so glad they gave Nero a similar treatment.

You would think there wasn't a dedicated thread here to complain about female character designs or something.

We have gone from ignoring knives being pulled out of vaginas to shaming crop tops. Baby steps guys.

I don't think you should worry about the gameplay. They have time to improve on everything we saw today.

No. If you want that, buy DmC.

One thing I want this game to be is balls in on combat. If they want to have a lot of cutscenes to tie it all together then fine, but DMC needs to go back to being all about fucking shit up and looking damn cool while you are doing it.

Their fucking better be bloody palace too...even though it's probably gonna be DLC.
DMC3 and 4 had its own fair share of dogshit platforming segments. We'll see if Itsuno tries to do the same here.

As for the trailer, I'm conflicted. The art style is pretty meh and the gameplay seems so samey. It's still a character action games made by Itsuno so I'll still buy it anyway but they could've improved a lot of things imo.

To echo so many. This looks like shit. did not need to be called devil may cry with an ass aesthetic like the one in the trailer. Capcom had completely lost the plot when it comes to DMC.

I guess as long as ninja theory isn't touching it the chance that it'll be a good game despite its looks shoots upwards.

Why did they merge Nero into DMC? Wtf man either give me DMC 2 or go back to Devil May Cry properly. This edgy Nero didn't even seem like Nero.

Still my game of the show. The hype is overwhelming me. This is everything I wanted out of DMC5.

It's time for me to talk about the leak thread and address the elephant in the room

The trailer has been released and we've all seen it (for like a hundredth time), so by now it is pretty obvious that not everything in that leak thread turned out to be true.

Some of the stuff are actually pretty accurate (3 protags, conclusion to Sons of Sparda story line, V in the logo, Vergil vs Nero, etc), some are completely wrong (engine, conference that it would be shown, Sony deal, etc) and some are still unclear (could that black haired dude somehow actually be Vergil?)

So what happens to me now is up to Era mods really. If they think I deserve a ban then I accept that. If people wanna make fun of the stuff that I got wrong, I understand that too. They have every right to do so. But I do wanna make something clear.

It was never my intention to give false info or lie about anything in regards to Devil May Cry
. I love this series with all of my heart so I would never make up BS about it. I swear, not a single word in that leak thread is some lie that I just came up with. Everything I said there, was something that I had heard from people that I thought I could trust to have good and legit info. (who had given me info about other things that have come true, but ofc I should've been more careful with them in regards to DMC and this is something that I will keep in mind going forward)

So if any of the wrong info in the leak thread made you sad or affected you in a bad way, I sincerely apologize cause that was never my intention.

But like I said, my fate and the judgment of the info on leak thread are in the hands of Era mods now. So respectfully, from this now on, I'll ignore the leak thread related posts and just be excited about the game that I've been waiting for an entire decade!

Cheers.
Neonep asked me to mention you for this.

That looked goddamn awful. Nero should not be the main character of this game, and the weirdly DmC-esque tone just looks bad.

I can't believe I was actually looking forward to this. What a disappointing mess.
We still don't know if he is truly the main character yet. I liked Nero, so I am still really excited. The fact that the original team behind the first series indicates that it's going to be awesome. Just have an open mind to it at least.

Go play the game again. Game aged really badly and majority of the peoplr would agree.

I played it a couple of weeks ago and it's great.

If the 'majority' of people dislike it (not sure how you found this out, but I digress), it wouldn't change my opinion and I doubt it'd change the view of the poster you replied to either.

True. But come on, they clearly wanted to make her eye candy for a certain demographic. They dressed her like that for a reason. I don't want to make a big deal out of it, though.

It's fine to discuss this.

Ok, someone brought up Cindy from FFXV(Was it you?). Look at their intros, between Cindy and the DMC lady, and compare them. Cindys first scene is literally her bent over looking in the engine of the car, ass in full blast. This lady(Do we have a name?) however, the first thing we see her is driving the van, and subsequently opening the van door, crossing her arms, and asking "Hey honey, need assistance?" in a very southern accent. And that's a killer design IMO. Immediately she strikes you as someone who gets shit done, compared to Cindy who's wearing extreme booty shorts, bending over a car. The presentation difference between the two is a gulf apart.

I vote you stay cause you ignited hope for DMC

...To be honest, I'm not gonna say DMC1 is "bad," but I'm not exactly in love with it. :U I dunno, I can appreciate it as a base for the sorts of "extreme" hack-n-slash games that came after, but the leap forward with games like DMC3 and Bayonetta in terms of versatility and fluidity is so significant that I find the first game difficult to go back to. DMC3 is the best one to start with, easily. I played maybe half an hour of DMC2 because it was, well, DMC2.

I just realized those strands of hair in front of Dante's face in that shot give the appearance of wrinkles. It could be that he's younger than we think.

I wouldn't even mind those, if they keep them to a mininum. But for gods sake, please keep stuff like that goddamn dice game out of it. I would love to meet the person who green-lit that disaster and ask them why they did it.

I was super impressed from the get-go, and I knew it was Nero from the jump. It's a RE7 situation right now people will come around soon enough.

Man, capcom not cheaping this time around is amazing. Now I'm quite curious how a potential sf6 would like on the RE engine.
