We did some shot by shot analysis in the discord and not only is it without a doubt Vergil (like legitimately his old DMC3 costume on with veiny corrupted look) but he actually rips off Nero's Devil Bringer arm with his bare hands.

Bad ass tier through the roof.

Yea no we don't live in a time where characters that look like that are "typical" for a video game. This is in the GOAT category in terms of asset quality:

I stand corrected.
That doesn't look anywhere near the CG render, lol. The graphics are great (bad facial animations withstanding), but it looks like a current gen game, Uncharted 4 has very comparable models for instance.

Am I crazy or was the chronology that DMC4 took place BEFORE DMC2 ..

We still following that ?
Yea DMC4 is definitely before DMC2 but we are all unsure as to where DMC5 takes place. Seems to take place quite a bit after DMC4 and may in fact be after DMC2 as well. Most of the fans want it to be after DMC2 too.

They kicked DMC2 down to some ambiguous end of the timeline to avoid dealing with it, but if anything is set after it to finally move away from its baggage without outright rendering it non canon, this seems to be.

Huh never noticed that but your right.

Though Raven is slightly better the Vergil.

Slightly.

And yeah as meh a Kyrie was I still liked Nero having a fairly stable relationship. It would also make DMC4 feel really pointless. Plus it's just be tacky to kill her off like that.

But I guess we'll see. Hopefully we'll get more details soon.

Yeah, Raven's a dirtbag to say the least, but to date she's not quite as awful as Vergil is shaping up to be here.

Plus, there's always the opportunity of retroactively making Kyrie more interesting and fun a character if they wanted.

Capcom has purposefully avoided reference DMC2 for as long as possible. The personality of Dante as well as the ending of that game made ever continuing it quite difficult. Dante finally resembles the way he looked in that game so maybe they'll reference it or go past it if this is truly the end of this storyline.

Mainly because in terms of using a game engine to create promotional images, game engines are more than capable, RE engine included

I'll give you the hair being higher quality than what's in the trailer, but the face absolutely is exactly what's in the game, I actually made a gif of that moment she talks to the soldier:

I'm also sure that they rendered those with the engine itself considering what RE engine is capable of doing.

What seems to happens for Nero is that he is in his garage, probably where he is doing his Devil May Cry business. Vergil seems to come and Nero, as dorky as he is, seems to give him some pointers for whatever Vergil asked (or didn't ask), and when his guard is down vergil straight up rips his arm off like it's an action figure by throwing him away.

There's not even a struggle. Vergil rips with his arm off with one hand.

I came in late to the trailer and when i first saw Nero I thought it was the scalebound guy for a second. Thought Microsoft had brought it back from the dead.

The Yamato (which is Vergil's sword) is kept within Nero's Devil Bringer arm.

I wasn't sure when I first saw this a couple of hours ago, but now I love it.
Yeah, I get the DmC comparisons, but this is the over the top DMC that we all loved in a new form.
And I also like the new Dante. It's not Dante from DMC2 (which imho is peak Dante) but I think he'll look great once we see a bit more.
Really hyped now.

Vergil's been wearing the same coat his entire life it seems like. I love his DMC3 look, but I really hope he gets a new outfit.

Doesn't Nero call someone Qball? Think Vergil has a hair cut?

It probably goes like this
Vergil: "where is yamato?"
Nero: "come and get it if you want" *points at arm*
Vergil: *teleports and rips off arm*

You knows what's really weird, I must've spaced out on dmc4 back in the day because I do NOT remember Nero being Vergils son.
