Hey quick question, I haven't touched the game since it first came out where I finished it on hard difficulty. I'm interested in restarting it with New Game+ on ultra hard difficulty and do that w/ the DLC (for the trophy). Has anyone played this mode and is it enjoyable or is the difficulty imbalanced? Thanks in advance.

I tried, got really frustrated real quick. My weapons felt really under powered compared to how I was steamrolling through the main game. The new machines were beyond anything the main game had to offer in Hard difficulty. Even on Hard the DLC is much harder than the main game

I hope we see more dinosaur-like machines. Something like a stegosaurus or a larger, tougher thunder jaw variant would be cool.

Yeah, sequel could definitely go with a few more dinos. I had a list of stuff I'd like to see back in The Other Place. Ankylosaurus was one of them: slow, but heavily armored and packing a ton of guns. Maybe using active shields, like the Shell-Walker.

Also, they should create some environmental variants of some of the machines, with expanded movesets.. Desert Thunderjaw, now with 1000% more flamethrowers. That kinda thing.

The new gorilla/bear type enemy is damn fun to fight against. They are so aggressive.

I'm bumming hard right now after losing my save data.

So, over the weekend I had a power outage and couldn't rebuild the PS4 database, and had to re-initiate the console. Afterwards, I check online storage, because my saves are set to auto upload, but for some reason Horizon (100+ hrs) and a couple other like Persona 5 (100+ hrs) weren't there. Game saves from launch day to games I've played a day ago like Uncharted: Lost Legacy were there, but not the most important. I had absolutely everything in this game, and put around 10 hours into the Frozen Wilds over the weekend.

Considering playing through to lvl 30, so I can access the exp again. Maybe I'll just Youtube the story, and move on.

Uuuuugh!

I pretty much only ever use these weapons:

The main bow for its normal and fire arrows.

The bow with elemental arrows. Ice, elec, corruption.

The other bow for sonic arrows, harvest arrows etc

The slingshot with various regular explosive bombs.

They cover all the bases. I wish it was easier to quick swap to the other weapons.

Maxed damage Ice Rail is a beast, and pretty essential to my Ultra Hard hunting grounds success. The upgraded bows probably would've helped for the weaker bots but I like to do most side stuff before finishing story missions.

Playing on Ultra Hard at the moment, it's much harder than the base game so far and the Shield Weaver has a counter now, which makes it even harder.
I'm super rusty too though, which doesn't help.

My biggest problem with the DLC weapons is how much resources you have to spend to produce ammo. The stormslinger and the icerail not so much, but forgefire forced me to go farming for blaze after refilling the ammo once.

I beat it on UH because I was stuck part way through when it dropped. Some of the encounters were pretty rough (I felt like I had to kind of cheese a few fights) though the balance patch my have fixed it. I ended up beating the game on UH hard and going back on normal for the new trails stuff/trophies though. They still hit pretty hard on normal and take a min to take down. If your going for trophies I'd do it on your current save then do UH. It took me significantly longer to beat on UH then the 15-20 hours reported.

Yeah blaze was a real issue in the DLC area. I had a ton of cash though and bought a ton from a merchant.

I used the Tripcaster for a long time and Ropecaster for many big machines, Ropecaster was a must on the DLC for me.

Is this really 15 hours long? Or just the expected, "There's 15 hours of content" but it can be completed in less?

I got my last DLC trophy is about 13 hours. But I have to admit I got 2 DLC trophies (the dismount attack and machine repair trophies) before attempting the DLC area. I thought I was going to be forced to grind to 60, but the very last quest got me over just as I finished it.

It really is amazing well worth the wait you will love it.
Ha, you're not making it easier!

In think Zero Dawn is still my favorite game of 2017, in a year of fantastic games. Very excited to play Frozen Wilds, but don't want to divide my time between it and another game. Should be able to give it my full attention in December.

Thanks folks

I guess it will take me an hour or two less, if I try to do all of the quests and some of the bonus stuff. I don't see myself going for all of the challenges or upgrades.

My time with this dlc cemented Horizon as my GOTY and GOTG. I just love everything about it so much. The characters, the plot, the enemies, the world, the music, the graphics, the sound design, the gameplay. It's all superlative. It's just a giant breath of fresh air after near a decade of AAA sequels and readaptations.

Couldn't of said it any better it really is a fantastic game. It's one of those games that I just never tire of playing.

No, the DLC will adapt to how much of the story Aloy is supposed to be aware of, so no spoilers.

But as I said before, you gain access to weapons and modifications that will wreck the main game. The DLC is perfect post game content for people who plan on doing an ultra hard NG+ run afterwards

Thanks! Adapt? That's a pretty neat feature. Thanks for the tip though, I will wait till after I beat the main game before stepping foot into the new area.

I love me some Horizon but expecting big things from TLoU2.

Finished it! Loved it! I feel there was the right amount of stuff to do. IMO the story of the DLC starts with a strong "Side Quest" vibe but turn out setting up interesting things for the sequel. The Waterlogged side quest might be my favorite quest in the game (main + side). Also they weren't kidding about the improved facial animation. They were off putting in the main game but really good here. Especially Aloy's smirks :P. Perfect example of Quality > Quantity. Wouldn't mind a smaller Horizon 2 in size but more polish in all departments.

Sadly, I encountered a glitch that won't allow me to 100% the DLC for now: One of the "Super mods" is bugged and the chest just won't appear :( Apparently GG are aware of it so I hope a fix will come soon. Anyone got the same issue? It is the mod in the small and "closed" are at the east were there was a tower, and side quest and a Fireclaw.

I loved loved loved the Waterlogged sidequest. Hope both those characters make a return for the sequel. Lualai is so endearing.

I'm really not sure how people are saying that the Frostclaw is a gorilla. It's obviously a bear.

Also, I purchased the Banuk Striker Bow first chance I got and loaded it with +Damage mods. It's so damn good.

Playing through Ultra Hard, I can't help but feel like the DLC, in hard difficulty, is equivalent to the rest of the game in ultra hard. The amount of ammo needed to tear or destroy machine pieces, and the general aggressiveness of the machines is exactly the same as the DLC's deamon machines.

Finished the DLC and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was surprised how substantial it was. :)

One level short of 60, but I think I'll leave that for a later date. Gotta move on to new games!
