So Dante is played by Chris Jericho and Nero is played by Cody Rhodes? I'm ok with this.

If Dante comes in with break the walls down and a ducking topknot it will be the best scene ever

Nah get these weak jawed anime lames outta here.
962.jpg

:P

For real though, the jaw keeps growing well into a person's 20s. The new look fits the more realistic direction they're taking with the visuals anyway.

Dante's bike is totally gonna be used in battle right?

Definitely. The quick glimpse from the trailer showed it having some crazy demon themed design. Would totally fit to be a transforming weapon of some sort.

All we need is Enzo making an appearance and maybe a nod to gilver or patty and we good. As long as the game has good alts and throwbacks to previous games were fine.

They actually gave itsuno a budget this time. Not like 4 which was just a shoestring and some gum.

Because real face is not fake face. Fake face change when become real face. Real face proportion require real proportion, and real face limited to actors available. Hope this helps.

Also, this looked like an aged, more realistic Nero from DMC4.

But obviously real people aren't going to look great at all angles of the day like a porcelain doll. Take Dante as an example. Honestly, I'm just glad JYB is finally voicing a character with a jaw.

Who are those people and where can I see their reaction?

As someone who never really got into the series (I briefly played the original but never ended up completing it) what games would you recommend I go back and check out? I was thinking of giving the original another try, but is it super dated now?

I tried the re-boot and couldn't really get into it, but I hear really good things about 4.....

I'm interested in giving the series another chance, but would love some suggestions so i'm not wasting my time -

thanks fam!

Play 1, 3 and 4. In that order.

Langdon is voicing Dante.

Just play 3 and if you like that play 4. You don't HAVE to play 1 imo.

1 is good but it's a little rooted into survival horror roots. As such, puzzles and navigation are prevalent throughout, but they're not difficult or anything. And the controls got a little crust on them. It's not as much of a crazy combo game as its sequels. However, it has a ton of variety in its level design. It's very ambitious and its core mechanics are found in every other game in this genre. Honestly, its enemy design is still unmatched. They all behave uniquely from one another, creating interesting encounter dynamics.

3 is a combat game through and through, but they tried to give a little lip service to 1's level design, but the puzzles and navigation are abbreviated. The story is pretty good, and the cutscenes are simply amazing.

4 improves on the combat in 3 while making the level design worse than both 1 and 3, while going a little overboard trying to bring back puzzles and navigation from 1. As a campaign, it's easily the worst of the bunch. The story is half-baked and the cutscenes aren't as good as 3's. They're still entertaining though.

Play 2 to meme yourself.

Absolutely loving the direction they've taken. Combat looks like an awesome evolution of DMC4's arm to me. Plus the arm. is. a. fucking. rocket. But the stand-out for me is Nico. It's the best character design i've seen in a long time with flawless facial animation. She acts like a total goober, and combined with the music and self-aware cheese, it's made it a refreshingly lighthearted game without being overly edgy or cringe. A pretty rare feat.

Watched the trailer again. Now I'm totally on board with this, it will be awesome. Nero looks better than in DMC 4 and Dante looks alright too.

I was cautious about this title, but the more I see more a like, we can see that Capcom is really taking care of the details this time, really looking to see dante gameplay

Haha, ok appreciate the insight. I was looking on the ps store and I really only have the option between the original trilogy as a bundle and 4, so maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get the first 3 and see how that goes.

so. it was certainly a shock— wasn't expecting it to be announced at microsoft's presentation for sure, lol— and i'm not sure how i feel about the game's artistic direction, but the gameplay still looks tight, the character models are stunning, and my heart is open. i always felt the game needed to change for the new age, anyway. can't wait for the demo! then we'll know for sure what's up.

i will say, however, that the swathes of people getting salty and claiming dmc is 'dead' because it isn't anime disappoints me. not because of the gameplay, or the characters, or anything else, but because it's not anime. hate to say it, but... maybe the journalists were a little right.

Well I mean, if you don't like getting hounded by tons of people you probably shouldn't be on a platform that allows you to get hounded by tons of people.
Except that platform exists as an easy way to put your thoughts out. Expecting a person to either cower out or face constant e-paparazzi with a smile is really shitty. Hes not here fr you, or anyone. He's here because he can still tweet and have opinions without being a walking AMA.

He''s long since been known to not have any tolerance for hassling him, if people do it now its on them, not him.

The more that I think about it, Nero might not be so bad if he's grown up significantly since DMC4 and if Kyrie is straight up dead years before the start of the game. Put Nero in his late twenties, remove Kyrie, make him not a whiny little kid that doesn't have scenes of him slow motion crying and there go all my complaints with him

Theme song is dope though

I mean, that logic can easily be reversed though. He should know by now that getting constantly hounded by people on a public platform is never going to stop no matter how abrasive he acts

DMC4. The angel enemies you fight in the game are made of Nelo Angelo's armor.

It's easy to miss though since the black scientist dude refers to Nelo Angelo as the "dark angel" in the game.
Yeah, I played the shit out of 4 and never caught that. Thanks!

And I like how a game where a dude grabbing demons with his electric devil hand while revving the engine of his sword and riding a missile is "too realistic" for some fans.

Graphically, not thematically. I just prefer more colorful and fantastical visuals for these types of games.

Likewise, I only knew about it when people started mentioning it on the web. Localization fucked up that info reveal big time.

For real. We finally get the dream and people are complaining that it looks too realistic. Stop proving the DmC fans right dammit. XD
Not only that it's too realistic, but complaints about hairstyle and beards.

As much as I love the community, I totally saw this coming, I predicted that Capcom will give Nero an undercut and Dante a beard and that there will be an outrage about it back in 2017-2016.

Itsuno and co. most likely knew that it was gonna happen too, but decided to continue with whatever vision they had instead of holding the franchise back and making it look samey to appease to those who merely hated DmC because Dante looked different.

seriously! i thought people were exaggerating about fans hating on the reboot just because of dante's new hairstyle, but i've seen people— not here— crying that dmc is DEAD because nero dared to get a haircut.

you know what? i support him. good for him. suits him better.

Yeah it was so strange, I was in the discord at the time and was completely blown away by the trailer.

Changed the window to share the hype and my discord peoples were in full disappointment mode. I just kinda sat there for a second and wondered if we just watched the same trailer lol.

Glad to see people coming around though, that's good stuff.

I'm definitely glad that more people are coming around. But still, it fucking hurts to see an incredible like this ruined by reactionary first impressions.

I dunno whether I wanna blame the fans or Capcom, if DmC never existed and we got a traditional DMC5 at the time, I feel like the reactions for a DMC(6) would've been far less negative.

Like someone else said a few pages ago, folks missed the old gang for so long they conjured their own imaginary versions of what Dante and Nero should look like on current gen hardware. I guess Capcom's got their fair share of the blame.
