What about combat like Butcher Bay?
Slightly less bad than being knifed in a kidney while strolling on a street corner.

Look, I'm very familiar with a lot of first person games. I'm probably familiar with all those who attempted melee in some form.
Most were horrible, some were slightly better. I can't think of a single one, not even Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, that comes even remotely close to the quality of any decent third person melee combat.

Honestly I don't even want to waste time arguing anymore about it. That's how I feel on the topic regardless of how much people here agree with it.

Refining your "class" through what you do and how you augment yourself is way better than choosing a class from the start IMO. Allows you to be more specialized

"If anyone is thinking there won't be that Blade Runner noir it'll definitely be there."

Ponders past thread posts.

So Rockerboy and Netrunners are not playable :( either. No Mac Tech Agent or cop either? Man they really scaled this stuff back.

I was hoping that the classes were going to be a huge part of the game, like something you pick and it shapes your gameplay and how the characters see/respond to you, that is like a pillar of Cyberpunk 2020.

Saying that you can be part "solo, techie, etc" makes it sound like classes are simply skills in the game and not a role playing choice.

Gamespot pls, don't BS people if there's no gameplay footage.

That said, still some useful deets.

So seems like the scope for player classes is much more limited than what I initially expected. It could still be a fun game but expectations are way lower now.

what's the point of getting to choose between male and female if the game is a fps? what's the point of wearing cool clothes if you can't see them?
I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that the male/female choice will affect dialogue choices and possibly story. I mean, real life is different depending on whether you're a man or a woman, even though we don't see ourselves from a third person perspective. If you see the male/female choice as purely an aesthetical thing then sure, but there's more to it than that.

YES, they just confirmed the main character is voiced.

Phew, my main worry was having a silent create-a-character. Awesome. So V will be a fully fleshed out character. All I needed to hear.

Progression sounds like Witcher 3, where you mix and match from skill trees. Which is fine, I guess, but I'm hoping skills impact more than just combat.

will the game at least go to third person during dialogues? because if the game doesn't even have those witcher 3 like conversations i'm seriously going to drop the game
Third person conversation and cutscenes. Voiced character. It's a ROLE PLAYING game. Choice of gender is huge to character customization/ownership, even if you aren't looking at them every second of the game.
