How does an insignificant percentage of players mean bigger backlash? Honestly, the only way for us to know if there is a blacklash would be IF or When Sony decides to remove the block. Until then we are all just speculation based on hopes and dreams.

Backlash would only be from PS4 owners who make up I believe the majority of the player count anyway. Even still there's cross play with everything else. Also KB+M support.

Sony built it's PS4 player base through being all about games, allowing switching HDDs, not forcing media player costs on the players, nor Kinect or whatever, which is why they are at 80+ consoles sold with about 50+ million online users; more than It's console competitors combined, and doubled.

The PS4 online player base is not what their competitors DESERVE, however, it's what their competors' players NEED right now.

As a PS4 player I want the best games, and the best online. I am in no need for more online people to play against, however: I feel sympathy for gamers of competing platforms. They deserve a big player base as well, even if the companies which they support did not build that this generation, all gamers in my mind are just that; gamers. And all gamers are created equal.

No matter if you prefer Halo over Zelda, or if you think Mario Kart is better than Forza or Wipeout, everyone should have a chance to play with eachother. So I think Sony should allow it.

However, Sony should get 1 dollar per user, per month from their competitors. This money should go into the PS Network, to have an even beter service. Or maybe put that money towards the development for a new indie title which would be created for PS+. Or maybe give it to charity. I don't know. MS or Nintendo should pay for the gesture, because that brings value to their platforms, and it inspires them to create a compelling ecosystem for their users to invest in, so that one day, all platforms have the same userbase, not needing to piggyback on the big generational winner for player, but all contributing to 1 big online pool.

My 2 cents.

TLDR:
-All gamers are created equal and deserve access to Sony PS4 online player base
-Their competitors should pay for this access as it brings value to their platforms
-It would be even better if all 3 platforms in the future are equally as strong as every company would benefit

Because it makes owning their platform more attractive. And it brings more strain on the PSN possibly?
This is the most ridiculous post I have ever read

I own an Xbox and Switch and I'm disappointed because this keeps me from playing with my buddies who own PS4s. It also keeps me from having my buddies bring their PS4s over for our weekly LANs so we can get even more of us in on the game at once. It also keeps my nephew and I from playing with one another, whom I'd be able to play with if he played the game on literally any other platform.

It's almost like someone corrected me earlier in the thread, I acknowledged I was wrong, and then I acknowledged that I was on the other side of the argument against Sony. Dog piling without reading through the thread is disrespectful, please refrain from it.
It's almost like I edited that post to say 'nvm' in the moments before you posted your response to it, which is why that's what the quote in your post says, lol. No big deal

Again we've been on this same topic for 2 years. Maybe in the future gamers will care. But they haven't really shown that yet. At all.
Has there been a game as big as Fortnite where it's been an issue? This game is one of the biggest of the generation.

If Sony doesn't buckle for Fortnite I'm not sure what they'll change for

Edit: goddamn haha, one post after and Minecraft and Rocket League are mentioned, that'll show me

So I have PS4 and Xbox connected to my account. Eventually downloaded it in the EU and logged in with my Epic account and it let me log in somehow, despite trying to link it on the website beforehand to no luck.

I hope the 30FPS I saw in handheld is only in handheld and the game runs at 60 while docked.

HOLY SHIT THIS WORKED. As seen on reddit - I just unlinked my PSN account from my main EPIC account that was also linked with Xbox. I then linked my PSN it to a new EPIC account that i just made. Finally, i was then able to link my Switch account with my Xbox on the original EPIC account.

ALL PROGRESS AND SKINS ARE AVAILABLE ON BOTH SYSTEMS. I logged into both my Switch and Xbox and all of my stuff is there.

So yeah, its confirmed, if you unlink your PSN, then create a new EPIC account and link it with your PSN, you can go back to your original EPIC account and link your Switch.

SPREAD THE WORD. A WORK AROUND HAS BEEN FOUND.

I just tried it. This does not work.

Sony's too busy crowing about edgy 3rd person cinematic action game #452 to care.

Man SIE came off looking bad this E3.

People who play on the Playstation are not Sonys fucking property to be sold off dude.
There are plenty of people who own multiple or even all systems and they would like to have their in-game purchases and progression shared across the platforms, and there are people who would like be able to play with friends who own a different system.
Cross platform play would also allow for more niche games with online components to stay relevant for longer due to a bigger playerbase across platforms, this issue isn't about your dumb console war, this is about games and gamers getting fucked by Sonys stubbornest.

I just tried it. This does not work.

OK, this what my scenario was, so we can see how we're different and why it might not have worked. This morning i could log into my EPIC account and it would show that 3 accounts linked - Xbox, PSN, and Twitch. Once we found out that we couldn't link our accounts, and i confirmed i couldn't link my Switch because of the PSN link, these are the steps i took based on what I read on Reddit:

1. I unlinked my PSN account using the EPIC website
2. I created a new EPIC account using a different email and activated the account
3. I linked my PSN acount to the new EPIC account via the website
4. I logged back into my original EPIC account, which was still showing a link with Xbox and Twitch, and linked my Switch account

Once this was done, I logged in on Switch and confirmed my battle pass progress and skins where there. Then i closed the game and logged in on Xbox One X and confirmed everything was there as well.

I'm not sure why it didn't work for you. The only thing i can think of is that i only played on PS4 a handful of times, and i only made purchases via Xbox. I never actually purchased anyhthing via PSN.

What does this mean? When i said i never purchased anything through PSN, i meant i havent bought battle passes or skins on PSN. I played Fortnite using the account on PSN when it first came out, but then i didn't start playing again until it was available on Xbox and since then i've only played on Xbox. Xbox is also the only platform where i've purchased V-bucks.

Regarding your original point, as far as furore potential / current mindshare is concerned I think Fortnite is way way bigger.
Bigger than Minecraft?

Do they have Fortnite conventions? Minecraft is almost it's own platform. There's educational software totally based on Minecraft. I can't see that happening with Fortnite, deep down it's still a shooter

Ok, Crossplay is awesome. Able to keep my progress between my switch, Xbox One, iPhone, & PC is a great feature. Still not that good but i'm enjoying myself.

I do have a question, for a casual gamer, is the 5.00 starter pack worth it?

EDIT: Oh yea, I can play on my MacBook pro as well.

I've only played on the PS4 previously. I just downloaded on Switch and made a "new" account, but this is some boolshiieeet Sony. I can play with errbody else but PSN accounts. Please come to a resolution within your ranks before next-gen.

However, good thing is that now I can squad up with my Xbox homies that I wasn't able to play with before this release. Fortnite in bed tonite!

This is embarassing for Sony, hopefully they will update their policies for current gen gaming
