Coming from a 6s the X's battery life is obviously a bit better but it's been disappointing compared to what reports at release were. The fast charger or a pad still end up being a regular occurrance for me in thr late afternoon/evening and I'm mostly on WiFi and not using the more taxing cellular modem.

Apple's battery life on their regular phones have always been like this so it's not much of a surprise. I just hope the increased battery life of the X is a sign of things to come and not just a flukey side effect of the new industrial design.

Just got one this weekend.
Upgraded from a 7 plus.

Damn I love the new gestures, the screen's OLEDness (colors, black levels, motion clarity), and the animojis (which I thought was dumb until I tried it yesterday).

Game performance (not that it matters too much to me) what improved in Fortnite as well.

I love it's smaller size, and wanting a smaller phone is partially why I changed it.
I'm also surprised that the camera looks a little sharper than the 7 plus, and that the battery life is still really good despite having less space for one, and such a fancy screen.

Ok sorry if this isn't related too much to the topic but I wasn't sure where else to put it. After I got my iPhone X, my daughter got an iPhone 8 and we both get the same texts, phone calls, idk it's weird. I can see what websites she favorites. I think we are synced but I tried breaking it and it doesn't work. I'm sure I'm just an idiot. But if anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

Does she have her own iCloud account or is she using yours?

Decide who keeps the iCloud account you're sharing, sign the other person out and make them a new one, then connect your accounts through family sharing

oh, and for everyone saying their battery life sucks, turn off background app refresh for all apps. don't really need that on anyway and it definitely helps the battery.

Sorry if this has been discussed (topic's huge!) but is it really expected that Apple will present/release models after the summer? I'm still on a iPhone 6 Plus, but it's really starting to fall apart so was thinking of grabbing an 8 or an X.

Well they introduced a new model every year around September for the last 8 or so years. And this years parts-leaks also indicate that exact timeframe again

Same here. Today in the morning, it was at approximately 80%. Now, about four hours later, it's 50%. I barely used it.
Battery health = 100%

I mostly used Safari, and the Battery Usage screen confirms this: Safari = 55% in the last 24 hours. However, I only do light browsing.. no videos or anything.

Yeah, so.. I think I'll have to head to the Apple Store. It drains so incredibly fast. God, this pisses me off.

Need some reassurance. Am I ok keeping the screen on (so turning off autolock) if I have the screen brightness at minimum? Shouldn't have issues with burn in? Playing bit city so I want to idle it while I'm at work :P

Well it's going to limit the potential damage, at least. It really depends on how long you have the screen on for when it comes to burn in. If I have the phone in a mount on a bike or in a car I leave set the auto lock off but I turn it back on when I'm done.

Apple leather case. I bought about 6 clear cases and each is slightly disappointing in different ways.

My 6s is having charge-port issues and doesn't make a clean connection with usb cables anymore so I'm going to need to upgrade phones sooner than planned.

It all comes down to this for me - which of Apple's current phones has the best battery life?

Have you cleaned the lightning port? Fluff accumulates and you need to scoop it out
nah, the port appears damaged. Mechanism that allows the cable to lock in place is damaged and the cable falls out of the port with the slightest nudge. If I don't disturb it, the cable maintains a perfect connection. But if I pick it up while it's charging, the cable slides out invariably

Ah ok, that's a shame.

I think the 8 Plus has the best battery life from what I've seen. Which makes sense, given it has a similar size battery but a lower resolution display than the X.

Really, cuz all you need to do is get a tooth pick or paper clip or even compressed air....pretty sure lint and dust get trapped in there. even if the port looks clean, chances are it's not

What's the procedure for a battery replacement? Do they replace it immediately, or will it take a few days?

Depending on when you get there it's usually same day.

Just so you know unless the battery actually fails their diagnostic test, it won't get replaced under warranty. You can do the whole $29 battery thing if you really want to.

Yeah, it was unbelievable when I cleaned my 6s+ port with a toothpick when it was having issues. The amount of lint was crazy. So satisfying to remove.

Mine was like that. Until I used a toothpick to remove all the lint and now I can lasso the phone around again.

Seriously, try cleaning it out first.

My father had the same issue on his 6s, the genius bar used double-sided tape to remove the lint from the lightning port and it worked fine.

Have been using my new iPhone X for two weeks now (it's my second one) and still have the transparent screen protector on both front and back of the phone that it came with.
Apart from Siri not working the way it should due to the protector covering the microphone, I'm not in too much of a hurry to change that.
I'm not too keen on these thick panzer glass screen protectors that I had tried on my first iPhone X a couple of months ago, so something equally thin would be preferred. And (semi) anti glare as I don't like reflections.
Though I did put it in a Spigen Liquid Air case, so it's protected from all sides.

My Spigen clear case looks like a disaster now but it's prevented cracks on every single drop. Any other alternatives that look better and don't yellow after a month?

That sounds like lint like many other suggested, not a damaged port.

I had a boring meeting which took 3.5 hours, and I browsed ERA/Twitter for the most time. In the morning, my phone was at 90%+, now it's at 34%. That's not normal, is it?

Too late. Already posting from on iPhone X before seeing these posts about the lint.

But it's okay. I'm happy with my purchase and it's entirely covered by work anyway so even though I wanted to wait until next year's models it's not too big of a deal. Plus now with the increased resolution, everything looks so much roomier/spacious on the screen. I'm digging it.

Welcome.
iPhone X wallpapers
Sample HDR videos
These are the two things asked about whenever someone gets the X here.

For anyone who formerly had an Android device, is Google's implementation of search in the stock messages app as useless as searching in iOS messages?

Honestly, it depends on a lot of factors.

Are you on the 12 beta? What was the screen brightness? How was the signal strength?

With any smartphone (or tablet) the thing that's gonna draw the most power is usually the display itself. So a lot of screen-on time does hit the battery hard. Smartphones make it through the day, mostly, by relying on standby time.

If you're that concerned I would call or chat in and have them run a remote diagnostic on the battery. If it's failing then go in, but if not it's gonna save you a trip.

No, I'm using the latest iOS 11 version. Brightness.. about 60%. Good signal strength.
It's not that far from here, so it won't cost me much time.

I can't wait for the next iPhone, I love the new design. I still rock an iPhone 6, so the improvement will be big. Don't know if I'll go with the 6.5 or 5.8, I might go with the bigger one for the better battery.

Same here, my iPhone 6 days are numbered. I'm gonna go with the iPhone X Plus, the only thing that bugs me is the lack of the headphone jack = /

I really hope the iPhone X(2) Plus has a substantial battery life.

I've had the Galaxy S9+ for a few months and I'm actually switching back to my older Android phone because the battery life is so much better. S9+ isn't terrible (I almost always make it a whole day with 20-30%) but it's those days I use GPS for an hour or more or use the phone more and average that it gets dangerously low.
