Morgan was arrested on Monday for allegedly filing a false police report by calling 911 saying burglars were in his house when in fact two detectives and a social worker were conducting a welfare check on Lee.

Holy shit.

Curious who brought this to the attention of the police and how this will end up resolved; good that they got Morgan away from him, but he clearly does need somebody in his corner to assist him in his day-to-day living.

Court appointed legal guardian.... That's not the greatest news... but then again, I'm not sure who would be trusted from his friends and family...

About the only good thing about the appointed legal guardian is, is that if they're smart they won't do anything stupid since they'll have a TON of scrutiny on them.

I'm glad they've been investigating it for a while. This has been bothering me for a couple months, and with nothing publicly being done about it I was concerned the injustice was being ignored.

Elder abuse is one of the scummiest crimes. I hope Stan's new guardian isn't another vulture.

Fuck those people who were shitting on the original reporter of the story, seemed obvious he was being controlled and hopefully it works out for Stan.

The overwhelming response from Social Media is making me so damn happy. Its just post after post after post of people livid at the very idea of someone mistreating Stan Lee.

The amount of people that love him really is something to see.

Glad something is being done, wish it didn't take so long, this went on for far too long for something so public.

I'm really unfamiliar with the circumstances and history of this but...

With him seemingly continuing to work with Marvel, cameoing in their movies etc. how did he not get help sooner?

Or did no one realise there was something amiss? I'm glad he's getting help and I hope anyone involved with taking advantage gets what they deserve.

Sounds like it got so bad that the police themselves asked for a restraining order against Morgan.

edit: this means the thread title is wrong? I don't think it was Stan Lee himself that asked for the restraining order.
Detective Munoz determined that in order to protect Mr. Lee, it was necessary to obtain an Emergency Protective Order ("EPO") and, thereafter, an Elder Abuse Restraining Order ("EARO") against Keya Morgan ("Morgan"). At the request of Detective Munoz and others working with him, the Los Angeles County Superior Court (the "Court"), issued an EPO against Morgan on June 11, 2018.

This happened in the last few months, after all of his most recent cameos had been filmed. Stan Lee's wife Joan was handling his care and finances, but she passed away last July, which caused all of these sycophants and vultures to start coming out of the woodwork to take advantage of a vulnerable old man.

Ah okay, I forgot about his wifes passing. How sad he didn't have anyone else around him to keep him out of harms way.

What? No. Why?

However it does imply that Stan Lee is not fully capable of caring for himself in some way. That's not surprising given his age.
I would think that, in the case of Stan Lee, close attention woule be paid to whoever is appointed as his guardian but some awful things have happened to elders after being placed under guardianship. John Oliver did a segment on this recently.

Basically, the court could appoint a family member as a guardian or, if that's not possible for whatever reason (Wasn't there something happening with Stan's daughter? One of the reports on this mention that she's a friend of Morgan's.), they can appoint a private guardian. These guardians are appointed by a judge at the local level. The problem with that is that, in some states, judges are elected and require no legal training. In Texas, for example, only 29 of their 200 county judges are lawyers. One woman featured in that John Oliver video was guardian to 100 people at a time.

Ryan Reynolds in full costume kicking Keya Morgan in the balls outside the courthouse would make for a neat Deadpool 2 BD extra.

Oh well, here we go again:

On Friday, attorneys for Lee's daughter, J.C. Lee, said they actually represented the Marvel icon, according to the Associated Press.

Officials for the Los Angeles Superior Court told THR they were expecting a new restraining order request against Morgan to be filed by J.C.'s attorneys later in the day. As with before, the order would only be temporary with a date set later for a permanent issuance.

In April, THR reported that Lee — who co-created such legendary comic characters as Spider-Man, Black Panther, Iron Man, X-Men and the Fantastic Four, among many others — was caught in the middle of a war of words among those closest to him, all of whom were vying for control over Lee's life, allegedly for their own financial gain.

Morgan, who has long been involved in the pop culture memorabilia scene, was one of the subjects of the lengthy THR investigation.

Max Anderson. Well, I truly hope that he has Stan's best interests, and that the Elder Protection keeps a close eye on this whole situation. This was posted three hours ago but I just saw it:

The new restraining order was filed Thursday by attorney Stephen Crump. In the application, Crump alleges that Morgan made malicious and false remarks about Lee's daughter to Lee, and prevented Lee's financial advisers from seeing him. The order bars Morgan from coming within 100 yards of Lee, his daughter, or his brother, Larry Lieber.

"Stan Lee is currently recovering from the severe physical and emotional injuries caused by Keya Morgan during the period of time Keya Morgan controlled each and every one of Stan Lee's acts or omissions, and separated Stan Lee from his family, friends and close advisers," the document states.

Deadline report:

Attorney Tom Lallas said he appeared in court today to argue for a permanent restraining order against Keya Morgan, who had inserted himself into Lee's affairs. Lallas said he was confronted, in court, by other lawyers who also claimed to represent Lee.

"It was very unusual," said Lallas, who was asked by the Los Angeles Police Department detective investigating claims of elder abuse to step in as legal guardian. "It has never happened to me in 40 years."

Judge Pro Tem Ruth Kleman, citing the lack of clarity about Lee's legal representation, dismissed the request for a permanent restraining order without prejudice — meaning it could be refiled at any time.

Lallas filed a voluminous 263-page document (read it here) in state Superior Court supporting Lee's request for a permanent elder abuse restraining order against Morgan and for the attorney's appointment as Lee's legal guardian.

Linda Sanchez, Lee's former nurse and in-home caregiver, said she witnessed verbal abuse and financial manipulation, both by Morgan as well as by Lee's 68-year-old daughter, JC Lee, whom the father describes as "a vulnerable woman" who is "an easy target for predators."

Sanchez says JC "screams terrible, abusive things at her father" and blames him for her problems. The nurse also says that, although she has not witnessed direct physical abuse, "I have noted numerous bruises to the right side of Mr. Lee's body which were unexplained."

"Mr. Lee has told me privately that he is giving up, after his daily harassment, and that he believes he has nothing left to live for but to 'go to sleep' and 'die,' " Sanchez said in her testimony. "As a result of everything described above, Mr. Lee falls into very dark and depressed moods because he doesn't have the strength or will to fight anymore."

The legal documents claim Morgan took control of Lee's business affairs and personal life in February and isolated him from the people Lee was closest to and trusted the most, including his executive assistant of 20 years Michael Kelly.

"I called Mr. Lee to arrange to meet with him but was told by Morgan that he would not come to his office at POW! and I would be required to come to his home," Kelly said. "I went to his home to meet with him and Morgan and a bodyguard named Leo were present throughout my meeting with Mr. Lee … I was not allowed to meet with Mr. Lee privately."

Lallas alleges Lee was held hostage in his own home. Morgan hired a security guard to block access to the Oriole Way residence, changed all of Lee's phone numbers and tightly controlled his communications. "I was not permitted to meet or speak with Mr. Lee," Lallas said. "The Morgan group also took control of all email communications."

Morgan was arrested by LAPD on suspicion of filing a false police report, allegedly concerning a supposed break-in incident at Lee's residence. Out on $20,000 bail, Morgan is due in court on the matter early next month.

At the time of Morgan's arrest, Lee and his family were granted a 48-hour restraining order against the business manager. Among the various conditions of the order was that Morgan must stay at least 100 yards away from Lee and his home.

The paperwork also states that "Mr. Lee has a large estate worth over $50 million and therefore is vulnerable to financial predators."

The new restraining order against Morgan, a 42-year-old movie producer who had worked as Lee's manager and personal adviser, demands that he keep away from Lee, Lee's daughter and Lee's brother.

The request for the order alleges that Morgan has attempted to interfere with Lee's ability to contact caregivers, doctors and family members, has attempted to alienate Lee from his daughter, and is embezzling or misappropriating $5 million worth of Lee's assets.

Lee's new lawyers said they would also work with police and prosecutors in an elder-abuse investigation involving Morgan.

Morgan told The Associated Press in a text message that he was in New York working on a film. He declined to comment further on the advice of his lawyer but has previously denied abusing Lee in any way.

Morgan's lawyer Alex Kessel did not immediately reply to a request for comment on the allegations in the new order.

Stan Lee's declaration said he had fired Lallas in February and had no desire to be further represented by him. It also said Morgan had likely committed malpractice by disclosing to media and others his opinions about Lee's health and personal life. It said that he had no desire for Lallas to file for a restraining order in his name.

"Mr. Lallas has done enough damage already," the document says. "Hopefully, he will just stop." The document includes Lee's original request that Lallas be fired, signed, "Excelsior! Stan Lee."

Lallas said outside court that he stood by his assertion that he could act on Lee's behalf, but he was glad at least that Lee's other attorneys were moving to keep Morgan away from him.

I'm glad as well.

In a recent interview with Daily News, Feige talked about Ant-Man and the Wasp as well as the overall success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Lee's creations -- and his cameos -- being a major part of the films and projects under the MCU banner, Feige noted that Lee's situation was "sad" but that they also wanted to help Lee.

"It's very complicated, and of course we're always seeing what we can do about it," Feige said. "It's sad."

This is a positive...I think.

POW! got back access to Stan's FB, Twitter, Instagram and other social accounts.

https://www.newsarama.com/40779-pow...an-lee-lawsuit-and-social-media-accounts.html

"To our fellow fans:

As we have always said, we at Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment are first and foremost fans! We also take very seriously our responsibility as guardians of the Stan Lee brand and legacy. One major hallmark of this legacy is the open, honest and direct relationship Stan has always had with his fans. To help Stan continue the tradition started with Stan's Soapbox, POW!'s social media team created and has for years solely managed therealstanlee Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts, as well as the Facebook page realstanlee, with Stan's participation and approval.

But, recently access and management of the Twitter account was temporarily out of our (and Stan's) control. That situation has now been rectified. Stan Lee's social media accounts are once again being exclusively managed by POW! with Stan's participation.

Unlike certain recent statements that were falsely presented in Stan's voice, we want to assure you of our promise to be completely transparent and honest with you, the fans. POW! would never want to break your trust or put you in a position where you are unsure of Stan's participation in his social media.

With that said, this is our pledge to you:

We at POW! Entertainment will only write in Stan's voice when it is actually Stan making a personal statement. These messages will include the signoff "Stan" at the end, so you will know exactly what content is coming from Stan himself. All other posts and articles will be shared by POW! Entertainment to deliver Stan-influenced content and general pop culture news.

We have also come to realize that someone was using the direct message feature on Twitter to send notes posing as Stan to many of the industry's top creators and talent. We will never try to fool anyone with messages. If it's Stan reaching out, we will say so; if it's a member of his staff, we will have that noted as well.

In the spirit of full transparency, even when it's Stan speaking, a member of his social media staff is usually typing and posting the articles, entries, and comments. We also invite you to tell Stan what you think, ask questions and send messages of support. He wants to hear what you have to say and occasionally Stan may even respond directly to your message.

We thank you for supporting Stan, and we look forward to once again sharing content from Stan and Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment with you across all social media platforms!

P.S. Some of the questionable material referred to above will remain in Stan's timelines and social media feeds. For now, these posts will not be deleted for reasons that will become obvious over time.

EXCELSIOR!

-Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment"

Really? The dude is a collector working for one of the most iconic creators of our time. Of course he is going to sell and flip all his shit. What was the first judge thinking? Was there not sufficient evidence of abuse or what? Does signing his name in blood mean anything?

Yeah, it's good. Stan and Pow always had a good relationship even when Lee stepped away from the day to day stuff, Morgan shut them out when he took over like the fucking Venom Symbiote.

Obviously the $1B lawsuit "Stan Lee" brought against Pow was Morgan in disguise, that lawsuit is now dropped alongside this announcement of them working together again and Stan's statement and the articles out yesterday.

"The whole thing has been confusing to everyone, including myself and the fans, but I am now happy to be surrounded by those who want the best for me," Lee said. "I am thrilled to put the lawsuit behind me, get back to business with my friends and colleagues at POW! and launch the next wave of amazing characters and stories!"

Camsing International, the Hong Kong-based company that now controls Pow, said at the time that the accusations were "without merit" and questioned the motive of the complaint, saying it was "so preposterous that the company has to wonder whether Mr. Lee is personally behind this lawsuit."

The dispute was part of a complex series of legal battles that has consumed Lee in recent months. His manager and caretaker, Keya Morgan, was recently arrested on suspicion of filing a false police report.

Morgan did serious damage and I hope he rots.

Good. Now get one against his daughter.

Good, it was clear this guy was a leech cutting Stan off from people that could actually help him. Hopefully Stan gets help from real friends and supporters and not these bottom feeders and vultures that have been hovering around him, and that INCLUDES his daughter.

That's fantastic to hear. Sounds like he also needs one for his daughter but one step at a time.

You guys should probably watch this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37k8s_MJtlY

Although of course it would appear the falling out with Keya Morgan occurred after this video was posted.
