I stopped watching this after Nick died but wow, it sounds like this show has become quite savage. Killing off main characters left and right like Game of Thrones.

More savage than GoT you mean ? Out of the pilot, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Theon, Bran, Tyrion, Cersei, Jaime, The Hound, Daenerys, Jorah are still alive.

I love that Fear is doing inventive scenarios like a hurricane storyline. TWD never did cool things like that, like a winter season; Fear had the abandoned water park and now we have what looks like a storyline taking place during a storm

Unless we actually see someone die like with Nick, I doubt they are dead.
Bare minimum she probably won't pop up anytime soon. She would almost certainly have to be reintroduced at a season end or something to avoid it being extremely obvious by having her seen during filming. If they're going to the length of having her talk about being dead on the after show and the cast getting emotional, plus the Instagram post.. they aren't going to want her return easily spoiled.

I like how the interviews are basically 10 different ways of asking "She's dead right"?

Also, eh. Morgan for Maddison sounds like a bad trade.

I'm mostly disappointed we'll be robbed of Madison finding out about Nick's death and how she would've handled Charlie.

wow, just caught with it, this is getting better than TWD
That's not saying much, but yeah, it's been better than TWD for a while.

As for the latest episode: how much slo-mo can you fit in one episode? :D The thing dragged on and on. I didn't like her in the beginning of the show and I guess sometimes hated her, but I'm a bit bummed to see her go. Just like I was with Nick :/

Also, Colorful FTWD > Washed out FTWD.

So the producers and cast are legitimately acting as if that was it. She's dead.

If that's true, I could not be more disappointed. Because the actor that played Nick wanted to leave the show, I think this was a bad idea. Not be able to see her reaction to Nick's death is just bad. Not being able to see her and Morgan meet each other is bad.

And I think if it's true, they need to show the death.

Not sure what to think. It doesn't help that the episode itself could have been done better.

Finally 100% caught up, and boy am I pretty soured on this show now. I'll still watch it for the time being, but I can see my time with it coming to an end soon.

Dave Erickson's plan for the show was for Madison to slowly become a Governor-esque person. Someone who truly believed they were doing the best things for those they loved, when in reality they were becoming an awful human being. We saw glimpses of that in previous seasons - namely with how she dealt with Troy and manipulated him over the course of season three, all in an attempt to keep her children safe - but they did a total 180 on that with season four. She was still focused on her children, but she suddenly had an epiphany and became much more of a good person. Which in turn made her much less interesting to me, especially after all the build-up she had previously. She was like a completely different character.

There's also the fact that other characters - mostly Nick and Alicia - felt just a little off compared to previous seasons too. In changing directors and writers for the show, every character just feels so different now. Hell, Nick went from being a drug addict who covered himself in walker guts and walked among them, and downed a shot of adrenaline from a human's brain stem, to being terrified of leaving the stadium and being afraid of walkers.

Fear was supposed to center around the Clarks, and it's something completely different now. The only Clark left is Alicia, and she doesn't even seem to be taking Madison's place as lead now; that's going to Morgan instead. Maybe it'll be good, but it's far from the show that I've enjoyed and wanted the last few years. I'm really, really disappointed with how it's turned out this season.

Even if Madison survives, 1) it's really shitty of them to pull a Dumpstergate 2.0, and 2) I don't know that I'd be any more interested since she's a completely different person now. Unless they course-corrected her character and continued down the road of making her a villain, I'd still be just as disappointed as I am now.

I'm pretty much with Lukar on this.

My hope was that we would find out that Madison had done something that pushed her family away, leading her more into that Governor-esque personality. Instead, we get a lame 5 minute slow motion montage of her dying off screen.

I don't like it. It really brought an incredibly strong season to a screeching halt for me.

We'll learn that Madison actually realized at the last second that she could just climb up and over the wall, and when she did, she was suddenly in Virginia. Then Daryl drives to her on his bike, grunts at her, and they ride off into the sunset.

I guaran-fucking-tee you someone at AMC has had this idea before.

I have a low tolerance for TV writers outright lying to people on interviews now, so if she's not dead, then I'm done with the franchise entirely. They weren't mealy mouthed about her death when asked - they stated several times, over and over again, that she was definitely dead and this was her last appearance on the show. If they backtrack, that means that literally nothing they say can be taken at face value.

I'm totally disappointed by this "reboot" too though. Even the bullshit of telling her story through flashback was such an aggravating way of killing off the heart of the show.

I know you're joking, but if that happened I would officially be done with both shows.
I'd rather have Rick than Morgan at least.

Madison will show up in TWD after Rick dies and become the lead with Daryl.

It would make Walking Dead watchable again. lol

I hope all the new cast members are rocket launchered: Dharma, stupid republican hick, dumb lady who films stuff, Morgan (especially Morgan), little girl who killed nick. I'm sure there's some terrible people I'm forgetting. What a massive turnaround for this show, s3 was pretty good.

It kind of sounds like you hate good characters if you dislike John and Morgan.

I came close to deleting the first part of this season and either dropping the show completely or waiting until there's a marathon of it in September. But despite my TWD and FTWD burnout, I didn't and decided to start ploughing through it this week. I've now watched three or four episodes and am enjoying it more than I'd expected to. This season is better than the rest.

Season 3 got better as it went along, but after a decent start season 1 was pretty forgettable and season 2 was almost entirely forgettable and hard to watch. This is a nice improvement, but it began at the Ranch.

Nick's death was spoiled for me by YouTube and Madison's death and exit were spoiled for me by an EW article about her exit, that I saw when I Googled the show to find out when it would be returning. Nick's death was handled really well though, and even still it was a bit of a surprise due to how it happened. YouTube recommended a video for me that spoiled it completely, but I didn't watch it. I'd only watched one TWD video before that, too...

I like how they're handling the flashbacks, find the new group creepy, and am happy to see Jenna Elfman and Maggie Grace, the latter of which I've had a crush on for years (since before LOST). Morgan has also improved the show a lot.

Just finished the first 3 episodes.

The time jump is huge, unless the show is yet to reveal something. But I assumed season 3 was also around S3 or 4 of TWD and that's why Morgan was going to star in Fear since he wasn't on TWD during that time. But instead it jumped all the way up to catch up with TWD it seems.

I've yet to read through the thread since I don't want to get spoiled beyond what I've already seen about Madison in the post above me, fuck, my fault, but fuck. But people have to be bothered by this jump, no? Seems dumb.

I think it was just supposed to be like a 6 months-to-a-yearish time jump. They basically gave up trying to make sense of it and are just hoping people don't think about it too much.

I see, well if the season is good enough I won't mind too much. Just a little confusing right now that's all.

Either way, season is pretty decent so far.

All caught up.

I feel like I should hate this season, and be more annoyed at the somewhat soft reboot, the time jump, the deaths, the lack of Salazar...But I don't, because it's a pretty decent season so far, though not as good as S3 which was really solid. I'm enjoying the pacing and format quite a bit and I like most of the new characters, the story is decent, the writing is mostly decent and the dialogue is pretty good. Though I still have some issues with it. First off, it sucks that Nick (I know he wanted to leave) and Madison (at least she went out like the badass she was and not the softy they turned her into this season) are dead but at least it's nice knowing no one has plot armor. The time jump is just stupid, it was completely unnecessary just to accommodate Morgan when they could have taken it back to before Morgan reunited with Rick. The filters were too heavy, may as well be black and white or sepia at this point. Not really a fan of Scientology nut job Jenna Elfmans character, but really liking John Nemo and don't know her name, camera girl, played by Maggie Grace who by the way looks so hot with short hair.

My biggest issue with this season though is Nick and Alicia sitting in the car outside of the stadium just allowing it to get surrounded by Walkers, how fucking dumb was that? This was a case of some monumentally shit and lazy writing. Also...She died for them, she died for me, she died for us...I really hated the way Alicia, Strand and Luciana took turns forming a damn sentence in the finale.

We'll see how the second half plays out. I just hope Strand and Alicia (and Daniel) don't die just yet, they're the only remaining cast from the first episode.

All in all, I'm really not sure how I feel just yet. Yeah, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I'm also very skeptical because S3 was so good and this while still good, is just too different. I also worry that this show is just going to be a bunch of Morgans now. Going around trying to save people form themselves, as much as I like Morgan and his character, one of him is enough, I don't want to watch a group of people preaching about saving lives and helping strangers especially when this show was pretty damn brutal in the past compared to this season.

Still, while not as good as S3, it's way better than TWD has been for years.

Well I'm all caught up. I'm glad that I didn't delete it before watching it, because it was definitely better and more enjoyable than I had feared it would(n't) be. Easily the best season of the show so far.

I like the new characters. All of them. John Dorie is probably my favourite though. Alycia was pretty unlikeable and very different this part of this season, but she got better at the end.

Glad it comes back in August, not September which I had read. That way it won't get in the way of big fall shows and returns.

Season 4 Pt. 1 > Season 3 > Season 1 >>> Season 2

Is that a storm, or the cast and show going down the drain.

Hmm.

I binged season 3 and caught up through 4. Pretty disappointed by these deaths from the original crew. In a way, I kinda wish Daniel or Strand was given Mads death (I'll file it under as probably dead, as I did with Troy/Shane 1.5 last season). I also wish Ruben Blades would decide if he wants to do this show for good or not, because him showing up in such a limited capacity and disappearing all the time is getting old.

I read up on Ericksons plan for Madison as ultimately becoming a governor-esque character and am disappointed we wont likely be getting that now. It would have also been fun to see crazy Troy show up as a governor-esque nemesis bent on revenge on her.

Finally got around to watching s4 and that was quite possibly the best half season of a tv show I've ever seen. Just wow.
