I only joined like a week ago, so to me I mostly associate it with something like this:

Where I'm the girl in purple. Because I felt left out when everyone was making the switch over here, since I don't post in any community threads nor am I in contact with anyone from the old forum outside of the site, so I had no way to keep in touch with what was happening. I decided to wait a while before joining here since I wasn't sure if it was going to last, and now I feel like I missed out on the experience of the impressive beginnings this site had. Oh well.

Any group that looked at You-Know-Who's actions and said "We can build better" and did? That's a special place. Shit doesn't fly under the radar as much here, and I've held my head in my hands less often.

if so, that's really FKing upsetting mate, that's the opposite of what this place was/is supposed to be :/

So you were a mod on the old site? Attacks towards the old mods is unjustified IMO. There is no doubt that there was some abuse of power, but it's naturally because mods are also human beings with their own biases. I seriously doubt we have a perfect mod team on Era either. Also lets remember that there are a lot of banned GAFFERS who are understandably bitter about their ban on the old forums. I think a lot of them channeled that frustration towards the old team instead of looking at what they specifically did to get banned in the first place even when a tiny number of them were wrong bans. Not cool IMO.

Most of the mods are very good people, if they were power tripping assholes they wouldn't have left GAF in the first place.

I believe the moderation is so much better here. I love the warning system and how it guides posters to correct their actions instead of banning people and hiding behind a stupid mod bot. That's transparency and that's what a growing, thriving community needs. We don't need the iron fist around here.

It's GAF with quote notifications, which makes it at least twice as good.

I'm not being facetious. I visit about twice as often and I'm twice as likely to post because I don't feel nearly as overwhelmed trying to keep up with all my watched threads.

I'm enjoying the place so far, although it's irritating to see a bunch of the worst posters from the other place who got banned for racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. The technological improvements are great, as are the warning signs (although they're anonymous, so not very transparent). Still what's mostly great about the place is the community, which is still full of great people.

i don't know how i misunderstood this so badly before, must have been multi-tasking too hard.

fwiw Aena, i always, always, ALWAYS appreciated the work of the mods on GAF, even when it meant i'd get banned for 2 weeks for flying off the handle / being hot-headed / acting immature.

i always took it as a learning opportunity, and thought it was one of the best features of the site.

it's largely because you respectable folks migrated here that i was so intrigued by the new community.

so, hopefully that's some sort of small assurance for you to hear that.

[some people can take discipline, others can't i suppose]

GAF mods were power tripping assholes pushing their own agenda. There are at least two mods here that shouldn't be mods. I have them on ignore. God bless resetera.

I'd like it to be GAF with transparent moderation. That was the biggest problem in OT. Now, bad bans can be called out for what they are

I dunno. It's exactly like GAF was for me in terms of activity, sadly. I was all in during the community transfer but now I'm just back to lurking. I don't really have anything important to say lol.

i mean truthfully its just a video game forum to me. I Gravitated towards Gaf because it was moderated so a lot of the stupid shit that you saw on other forums wasnt really as bad there. I moved here because the community moved here. I dont put too much stock in it.

A place in which I continue my hatred for modern gaming and learning more stuff about videogames that I dislike.

Not even complaining, every time I enter gaming side there's something awful happening with videogames.
But I like reading the discussions, people getting mad because of a damn console and whatnot. It's amusing.

I still try my best to keep myself away from EtcetEra, there's a lot of stuff I have been meaning to write/ask and it seems the dogpiling attitude from the old place is still prevalent, so I just stick to reading and leave it at that.

I got waxed off of the creep forum because of an alt account / ' bad posting ' (I'm still posting bad now HaHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!) so I see this as like a second shot of amusing myself with the dudes I stuck around with from the creep forum on Twitter

It's a good site just add smilies pls
