Haven't read through the thread, but am I the only person who was sort of disappointed by this? I mean, yeah, I do dislike the new Leon and Claire models, but whatever.

But the graphics look so.....blah.

The game is definately lacklustre technically. Characters look ok and the Atmosphere is great. But the entire environment looks like it's suffering from a texture streaming glitch. There's no high Res textures, and even the bump maps seems low Res. I honestly think this game started out with more distant fixed camera angles like the original and so the assets where never meant to be seen so close. They switch to OTS mid development and now you can see the lack of details...at least that's what it looks like. I have no other explanation. No other engine looks like this and it's not like it's pushing anything else technically to make texture Res be so low. Maybe it's just not a very capable engine?

RE 3 is not Short game,Seriouly why people say about that ?

Jill go many place in RE 3 which could be more in Remake.
Maybe Capcom add Carlos Campaign too.

I meant "here" as in the game, not the thread. I anticipated there was a decent chance of fixed here, in this game.

Read that completely differently somehow!

I really wanted them to go fixed but assumed it wasn't going to actually happen. What I am very pleasantly shocked by is that it's not the 'Revelations with RE2 skins!' OTS version I was expecting. I actually think it's a bit of a small miracle that it turned out as well as it seemingly has. The potential for a train wreck was massive after it was announced to definitely be OTS I think.

I'm they release a horde mode mini-game option. I've never played the original RE2 but since the focus seems to be on horror rather than action I'm assuming there won't be any situation where you have to hole up and defend a building like you do with Luis in RE4.

It would be fun to defend a house/building from a horde of zombies, running around frantically trying to board up windows while zombies continue spilling in from elsewhere.

I watched the videos again for the 3rd time , I really can't stand that camera feeling. Just like 5 and 6. I couldn't finish those games because of the camera. I know it's a long shot but hope there will be another option.

Oh GOOD CATCH, that's maybe where he gets his actual RPD uniform.

This is what he looks outside like in the trailer, with some kind of jacket. They just didn't make the costume swap in the E3 demo most likely

sdfgdfgfg2bjvi.png

Yeah I totally think that Leon's not wearing his RPD gear when he enters Raccoon and that he probably gets it from Marvin during the cut in the cutscene we've seen in the demo.

I mean .. in an ideal world yeah .. but honestly would a single-campaign (with Mercenaries) remake of RE3 be fit for a full $59.99 remake ?

I, personally, think it will be a huge stretch and they will literally need to double or quadruple the content/length of the game.

The reason I keep harping on the expansion is because it's a great cost saving measure. Cheaper for the consumers, most of the tech and locations are already in place so the development overhead will be less, and the expansion can also be stand alone or have a separate menu executable thus giving it the feel of a full experience, instead of a tacked on add-on.

Yeah an expansion would be cool if it were the only way RE3 got remade in this stye, but I definitely feel like they can expand upon RE3 enough to make it more worthwhile to casual buyer. Adding way more to Raccoon City and possibly even giving Carlos his own campaign are just some of the ways you can add more meat to RE3.

I can only imagine how awesome the Birkin encounters will be now.

How the lore around Will/Annette/Cherry Birkin will be explained, how his mutations will be handled with the REengine....Mr. X encounters and such.

Man, ever since it was announced, I'm only thinking about this damn game.

I'm potentially excited/scared if they add a Lisa Trevor adversary/boss to this as well.

Yeah, this too.

RE2 was a massive part of my childhood, this gets me by the feels so bad.

This is all a throwback to when I was just having internet at home and was frenetically going to residentevilfan.com to check videos....like this one. :lol

I wonder if the jacket Leon is wearing there is meant to be a continuity nod to RE4? If he really starts with it at beginning it looks like it will follow the same formula where he stops wearing it soon after the start.

Yeah I hope it to come at some point.
And as much as people overplay the relevance of the police station in RE3, there is surely a hell of a lot of photogrammetry done for thousands of objects that can help fill out all the random background objects needed for RE3's Raccoon City. I think one of Capcom's streams even mentioned reusing some objects from RE7.
You just need to look at the demo to see the reused assets

30 min 4K direct feed demo footage from Max

You can hear a quick bit of the front hall music at the start!

I only poked my head in at random times for five to ten seconds here and there but I it seems like they chose to mostly completely forego any music. Am I missing it at key moments or is there basically no music outside of the main hall and save rooms?

I played RE2 for the first time as a 13 year old on the N64 in 1998. As a kid it scared me out of my mind, I can't believe I'm going to get the same experience now as a 32 year old adult.

It's crazy.

There's definitely atmospheric music but if you're looking for melodies I don't think we'll hear those

It's going to be more like this

It sounds like RE2 changes some cutscenes unti actual playing areas now, so I would imagine a large portion of the intro to RE3, as well as stuff that is talked about later, could become playable. What Jill was doing at the beginning of the outbreak, make the first areas a bit bigger, and so on. I know the movies sucked in general but I liked the idea of Jill and others trying to get out of the city on roads out of town and being turned back by Umbrella right before things fell apart.

Maybe take some cues from that. Introducing a whole section with that as an intro portion to the game, introducing the story, characters, and so on could be cool.

Add in some portions to the game of Jill trying to get home as the outbreak is popping off, getting home, then going from there to what we know as RE3.

Add in more stuff with Carlos (from his perspective, but instead of having his own campaign switching back and forth maybe) before he shows up normally, expand a few sections before the clocktower, expand the hospital, the factory, add in some new stuff. Maybe throw some bones at the Outbreak fans and take some locations/scenarios from those games and add in an hour or two of gameplay out of that somehow.

There is definitely potential to pad out the game a bit to make it it's own full-fledged release.

I never thought about adding a part where you play as Jill just as the outbreak begins but that is an amazing idea. That alone could add a couple of hours onto RE3's story.

Yes, that's likely what it will be, but looks like they're expanding pre RPD areas for this game too, so the tech and layout of the city is already there.

If it was up to me, just do a Resident Evil: Last Escape expansion and call it a day. We've seen expansions add full game worth of content to existing games.
Why would you though? It's a different game, a mainline title at that, and would be weird to remake it as a mere expansion to 2. Full fledged R3make please :)

I have no issues with the over the shoulder camera but yeah it is disappointing that it's not fixed like REmake was. At least this looks like they kept it a horror game and possibly even improved on that aspect. I doubt there will be an option though.

I mean, we all know it's a numbered title because of Sony's involvement and Code Veronica is the real 3 :p

* quoted the wrong post here before, apologies.

You know would have been amazing? If we all had the RE2 demo to play this weekend.

Yes. That would be pretty damn amazing.

Just finished Max's video. I'd say it's probably the best gameplay video we've had so far thanks to the 4K and Max taking his time to go in most rooms. The video would have been perfect if he'd managed to get the end cutscene where you see Claire on the monitor but the demo unfortunately ended just before he could get there.

EDIT: He also gets bonus points for literally being the first person to go outside and get footage of it. I'm shocked it's taken this long.

Do you think the texture quality will be improved upon in the release? The visuals look great but up close some of the texture work looks quite flat and should honestly be better. What do you think?

Max's video is great because it shows outdoors, it shows the shotgun, and it shows the caution and danger state of Leon in detail. It's subtle in Caution but he has a bit of trouble walking and keeping a straight stance. Good stuff
