Yep.
Yep.
Wouldn't that screw with all apps with buttons at the bottom of the screen? Very few apps would have a swipe up or down down there, but I could see lots of apps with reasons to tap the bottom.Ugh. That bar is just insult to injury. Just make the CC a damn double tap on the Home Indicator. I suggested it, I saw someone else here mention it, and Gruber just suggested it on his podcast. Double tap, Apple. Do it.
Is there no way to retry Face ID? Can't seem to trigger it again once the password input appears.
Lack of confidence padawan, don't give up so easy :P
I think AJx mentioned haptics on keyboard presses but im not noticing any besides when you force touch for scrolling.
Sheesh, they really hid the auto-brightness option. I had my phone since launch day, didn't find it until just now, though I really hate auto brightness. I had just assumed they forced brightness changes as part of Tru Tone. Now to find it in Apple Watch...

The Anker chargers are like $25 for their top model. Quality brand.I can't justify spending more than $20 on any of these wireless chargers. Maybe when they're like fully wireless I'll shell out the coins.
Except for the tens of thousands of apps already on the market that already use the bottom of the screen. You can have scrolling content there, but nav elements aren't encouraged in that area. I don't really see a big negative in reserving taps in that 50ish point vertical area for the home indicator.
Ah thank you both! Did they change where auto-lock was located? I looked through any section I thought might have it and of course i missed it. That is hugely helpful.
Whoa whatIt's actually better to just enter the passcode. This tells the phone that that WAS your face, and it learns to be more accepting of your face. The phone learns more about you and starts accepting your face more easily. But if you cancel out and try again, it doesn't learn anything. It sounds weird but it really works. My phone accepts my face like 99% of the time now.
Yep.
If we're voting on where to move Control Center, I nominate dragging up and to the left. Plenty of "space" over there to house CC.
Yep.
Well damn, I've had the passcode prompt come up like 25 times already since I got it from false reads. Actually entering the code will hopefully reduce this haha.Yep! I read about it here in this thread earlier and started doing it and sure enough it worked.
Whats the battery life looking like? Coming from big phones, the battery is the smaller battery is gonna be a big issue for me.
I get about 4 hours SOT and 14-15 hours total on my Note.

When designing for iPhone X, you must ensure that layouts fill the screen and aren't obscured by the device's rounded corners, its sensor housing, or the indicator for accessing the Home screen.
...
In general, content should be centered and symmetrically inset so it looks great in any orientation and isn't clipped by corners or the device's sensor housing, or obscured by the indicator for accessing the Home screen.
Yeah it's actyally in the official FaceID documents.
Face ID today is way, way, way better for me than it was at launch. It's because I plug in my passcode when it asked after failing, no doubt.Yep! I read about it here in this thread earlier and started doing it and sure enough it worked.
Super quick way of seeing it learn is to try and unlock while making a weird expression or yawning. Then enter the pass code when it fails. It won't fail the second time you do that expression.
These things are almost £50 on Amazon.
I'm getting one of these. Yeah it's an ancient slow one but it's cute and I can find it at a good price so meh. To the bedside table it goes.
I don't find it much of an issue. I have a coaster like charger and I just plonk the phone in the middle and it's charging, doesn't have to be exact either.I really want a wireless charger, but I hear a lot of them require specific placement on the mat/platform.. that seems like a dealbreaker to me.

Been wondering the same just yesterday while shopping for the link bracelet tbh. Perhaps it doesn't need direct contact, iPhones charge through certain cases as well. Then again, metal. I guess we'll see.How exactly is AirPower going to work with an Apple Watch with a Milanese loop?
Any old iPhone users not sold by their new x?
I'm going back to android but I can't imagine iphone users who upgraded have a reason to go back, well besides they like iPhone plus scaling and exclusive features better.
Control center is way worse but everything else is better imo.

Sounds like a real Sophie's Choice situation going on with you, Jeff. I turn on my Pixel 2 every single day just to keep it updated and scratch my Android itch. I just get so put off by the lower resolution and lack of vivid colors on that screen. I've had an S8 and the OS is so laggy due to all the bloatware Samsung installs on it (I returned it a while ago).
The thing I hate about Pixel 2 is there is no continuity between sound levels (ie. phone over car bluetooth at 100%, turn car off, use bluetooth headphones at 50%, back to car, bluetooth audio stays at 50% in car while I'm expecting it to jump to 100%). It's little QOL things like that that keep me on my iPhone X.
What's your daily driver now, Jeff?
It's functionality is fine. Wish I could move the default stuff around because I hold the phone with left hand so it's hard to reach media controls.I am baffled by how anyone can claim control center is worse. I mean it's ugly as shit.. but iOS <11 control center was fucking miserable. We got used to it like an abusive relationship, but abso-fucking-lutely terrible.
the new one is ugly as shit, but spending a couple of minutes setting up the stuff you use makes it 100% more usable than the prior POS.
But I like buying ready made stuff (it cost me 30€ btw, so I think it's more than fine for a wireless charger). Its just a bag with a 901 inside. It is cute though. You could probably make your own with a pad and some beanbag filling
