Forgot how tough Manus was. Getting clobbered. No help from Sif lol.
I tried learning Manus more on my last run and I felt pretty confident at dodging most things. His magic is all dodgable easily, although the straight forward blast tickled me a few times - I'd like to get more consistent at seeing that coming so I could get out of the way completely every time.
The only thing I still have problems reading is the main single hand slam, he raises his hand for a long time and the temptation is to roll to early - I always eat a facefull of fist, I started blocking and rolling late, but I would roll too late and block it. I think if I could get these two things down consistently, I'd be up for another SL1 run inc. DLC this time.
Haha... yeah, I got the plat with the axe, which with the extended charged R2, turned a lot of areas and encounters into easy mode. The cleaver has that straight/curved sword flavor, which I like too, but figured I'd go with something more unorthodox. Bloodborne definitely has more of that DkS3 feel, where even large enemies seem to have zero wind-up with certain moves, making reaction time almost impossible (like Gwyn's first swing in his fast combo). I'm curious to see how I level my character up after gaining so much knowledge through the rest of the series (BB was my first). But he's using the Threaded Cane, the best weapon in the game. :D
1. Never bothered with the Pendant, just one more item to manage and dodging is more fun.1. Why are you dodging his magic instead of using the pendant?
2. Yeah, that slam can be a bit tricky due to the long hold. But, it's also your best opportunity to get a hit in since he leaves it down for a while. Just get that timing right.
I completely forgot about the pendant and only got it after I defeated Manus. You don't really need it anyway. That attack where it rains dark magic from the sky can actually be completely dodged by strafing; no rolls required. I haven't been able to dodge the only other dark attack he used against me, which spawns the blobs in a circle around you and has them quickly travel inwards toward you. But he only used it two times in a dozen attempts and I could tank them with full health.1. Why are you dodging his magic instead of using the pendant?
After getting the 100%, I fired up Bloodborne and started a run w/ the threaded cane, since I got so attached to my BSS in DkS:R.
Effing LOL, man.
I am getting my ass handed to me. Why am I struggling so hard just getting to Cleric Beast?! I'm sure it'll all come back to me, but that adjustment period is brutal. Triangle to heal, L1 to switch weapon mode, can't remap jump. Dang!
I'm almost done with all the weapon upgrade trophies. I'm just missing the +10 fire weapon and +5 chaos (I'm upgrading the Zweihänder because of course). I even have the two slabs I need but I'm still missing a ton of red chunks. They seem much more difficult to farm than the other varieties which didn't take long at all.
As far as I know:Forgot this. I started the chaos covenant and gave 20 humanity so I should have access to the shortcut. Can I switch covenants now or do I have to open the short cut now before I switch?
As far as I know:
- you need to give 30 humanity, not 20
- you need to actually open that door first
After that you can switch covenant. Switching covenant before getting your reward is a bad idea as it will reset the progress, so you'd have to hand over more humanity again.
Framerate/pacing and input lag have been my biggest enemies going back to this compared to DkS:R on PC... I'll get used to it, but the change is rather shocking.Cane is more about crowd control and looking for Vis via Gun mechanic , a well skill build can Vis one shot all the mobs you encounter and use the cane R1 often.
In case of the cleric best you have to hug the boss and go R1 on his legs, you will hit all his limbs with each hit and recover your damage at the same time
Shit, ugh. First, ugh at needing 30. Second, ugh at needing to do it now. Discharge is waiting for me right at the fog door and he just blasts me when I enter lol
Seconded. I needed 70 for the Fair Lady (already gave her ten prior to that) and I was done in an hour or so.Go to the depths and kill rats over and over again. Each run should only take about two minutes or so. They drop humanity at an ungodly rate. Acquiring 30 should only take twenty minutes or so.

demosthenes : Just make sure you have the golden serpent ring equiped and have 10 soft humanity for the item drop cap.
My usual route was: bonfire --> downstairs to the group of 5 rats --> down the hall to the rat-in-a-box --> down the ledge to group of three rats --> into the passage way to the room where the Channeler was for another 3 large rats, 1 normal rat to your right and, back to the left, another two rats-in-a-box.
I despise using the right stick for camera control and prefer WASD for movement.Dark Souls on keyboard sounds like the true Prepare to Die Edition. I can't understand how people can play 3D action games on keyboard.
I would probably be able to play that way just fine, except that I don't think there's a way to turn off all the automatic camera movement, so it's constantly fighting against where I'm trying to look with the mouse. Being restricted to 8 directions of movement isn't a problem if you have mouselook for fine adjustments on that.Dark Souls on keyboard sounds like the true Prepare to Die Edition. Is Ceaseless Discharge still in his original position? It took me a few tries, but I was able to kill it fairly easily in the end by positioning myself between him and the wall and rolling through his arm smashes. Timing can be tricky, but much like the Hydra in Darkroot Basin he leaves himself open after each smash, meaning you should be able to do solid damage between each one.My issue now is that I can't change covenants and I've already given her 21 humanity and I can't get to the shortcut because ceaseless discharge is in my way. I need to level up more and get the anti fire ring.
Yup. DS3 doesn't have Humanity as an item anymore, so in that game they often drop "(Large) Soul of an x" items. They ate humans, you can see them rotting but alive by eating souls.
The big rat on the Deeps is like that because the Butchers threw the bodies and living being right above the rat.
They grew sapien enough to be the take carers of the giants tombs on Dark Souls 2
I want to beat Gwyn, but I don't want my file to be overwritten for NG+. Any suggestions?
If you're playing on PS4 and have PS+ you can back up your save and then redownload it after beating him.I want to beat Gwyn, but I don't want my file to be overwritten for NG+. Any suggestions?
Coop the boss fight in someone else's world? Not much you can do that I can think of.
UNLESS SOMEONE ELSE WANTS TO SUGGEST SOMETHING.

I can't speak to the books but anyone wanting to absorb more Souls lore talk should definitely check out the podcast Bonfireside Chat. Two relatively funny guys and a guest go in depth on the gameplay and lore of every Souls game including a bunch of Souls-likes in the off-season. Each episode is an area in the game so it's easy to ingest as you play through it yourself. It's technically finished (but who knows if they'll revive for Sekiro) but I know I loved listening through them talk about the game areas as I played through them, and I'm re-listening to the first game episodes for the remaster.
70? Why?Seconded. I needed 70 for the Fair Lady (already gave her ten prior to that) and I was done in an hour or so.
It's soft humanity.I forget, do I give Queelana my soft humanity or does it have to be unused in my inventory? Farming right now and it would be nice if the 10 I got for item discovery would count towards my offering lol.
As someone who loves invading, this shit makes me cringe and I don't blame you at all. These people are creatively bankrupt."Oh hey, guess I'll work on finishing the DLC then start NG+ for the Plat"

Guess that's enough Dark Souls for 1 weekend. I have way more fun things to do than fight Giant dad memelords all night.
Not trying to be a smartass, but why not stay hollow then?"Oh hey, guess I'll work on finishing the DLC then start NG+ for the Plat"

I already gave her 10 and her legs start moving better after 80 humanity, plus she loses her really pained dialogue (though she's still in pain in general).
