RE2 has the best scares in the series.
So many clever ones:
-the hands through the boards
-all the Mr.X fuckery
-licker through the interrogation room
-library floor breaking
-door loading scare
-the dog cages

And a bunch more. The game is jam packed with moments that defy your expectations and delights in fucking with you.

I'd erased the Licker mirror scare from my memory until now. Holy shit that was horrifying.

On the bright side, FPS is very doable down the line and probably could be much scarier than angles. It would be a good compromise.
Maybe they'll do some free DLC for an FPS view or whatever if fans beg enough. Going on the interview, seems like they didn't even think about any other angles besides over-the-shoulder.

As a huge REmake fan and someone's who's pumped for REmake 2 I decided to play RE2 for the first time this weekend. Super fun game. I'll probably play RE3 next weekend.

Fucking thought I soft locked the game during my Claire playthrough because near the end I had no healing items and died to Mr. X like 10 times lol.

Those two always get me because the sounds of the glass breaking and the floor breaking is so loud.

Is the game pretty much done? I'm loving it so far but my only slight concern is the seemingly lack of music in the game.

Especially the safe room music :(

so disapointed ... :(

SO HAPPY. Don't waste resources on archaic solutions.

Yes, but they have 7 months to polish it. More music being added would not surprise me. RE7 had safe room music so I don't see this wouldn't.

Considering how it limits the player (you can't look around corners without exposing yourself, for instance), it can be even tougher than fixed angles.

it also brought the actual scenery back into the main focus, with no distractions between you and everything that's happening basically in front of the character, which helped a lot with close encounters and the exploration as well.

I always felt that within classic RE's, the ambience was way more important than the actual character, seeing the R.P.D. or Spencer Mansion outgrowing the space on screen, giving it much more personality while boosting the atmosphere to another level of attention to detail and environmental storytelling. Anything between interacting with the Baker mansion, trying to find new items and facing a foe inside your personal space, helped to build a modernized survival horror experience, which personally felt like the closest thing to REmake since its release.

RE 2 Producer interview from RoH very confirm that there are no Fixed Camera on Remake.

Disappointed but not a surprise really, they're going for something different. Not a deal breaker to me, it just means that the RE1 remake continues to be the best remake ever made. This is probably how it would have looked with fixed cameras.

Having said that, I look forward to what they bring to the table when it comes to RE2. The most important thing here is the atmosphere and they seem to be nailing it in spades. The only thing I'm worried about is the score. With no loading between doors, it makes it hard to know how the score is going to be implemented in the game. It'll probably be subdued as fuck much like RE7 is, which is disappointing when you think about how the score influenced the first 3 games + CVX.

Yeah, I meant the original trilogy. Do you recommend PlayStation Vita versions?

played 123 on vita and it was amazing. especialy RE 2&3 that run at 60hz compared to the orignals on europe (if you live in europe) it was running at high speed !
I wish I could play Re1 Remake 0 and RECV on vita but it's only possible via remote play with the PS4

RE original trilogy is great on the Vita, but:

RE1 on the US PSN store is the Dir.Cut with the horrendously bad music score.

RE1 on the EU PSN store is the Dir.Cut with the original fantastic music score.

Otherwise RE2 & 3 both are the US NTSC versions in both the US and EU. Good news? Both RE1 and RE2 lets you add auto-aim in the options in these version, this was not available for RE1 and 2 vanilla back in the day.

while I think the visuals are really good, I do hope the game has some CGI cinematics here and there. The ones in Darkside Chronicles were great

The purpose of fixed angles is to view locations and characters from striking angles, have normal gameplay appear "cinematic," etc. They resonate in a way that others can't. It never really had anything to do with challenge, though RE2 compensated in interesting ways via sound.

I bought Japanese RE1 on Vita from Hong Kong PSN because EU PSN version is PAL version (50Hz, slower). Menus and text is in Japanese but I needed guide only for crow room picture puzzle.

And people say there's no value to fixed angles just because it was a compromise solution back in the day.

No fixed camera is a bitter pill to swallow. I'd even take a tacked on lost in nightmares job in addition to what I'm sure will be a great OTS system.

dude for me fixed angle was the core of RE DNA and its own soul.
An they killed eveything with RE4 but for the remake I was expecting somthing faithful to the orignal game like the RE1 remake was but I was wrong

I think OTS works perfectly here. Fans were for years saying Capcom can't make horror game with over the shoulder camera. RE2make is literally proove fans were wrong. They took everything good from old and new and mixing it up to something very special.

Imo RE2make will be like second coming of RE4 in terms of quality.

The Vita versions are the best way to play the original 3 games IMO. FWIW I would recommend skipping the original version of RE1 and playing the PS4 remaster instead. It's a better game in every way so playing the original will just ruin the plot. Plenty will disagree with this though.
