I had no idea we had a Resident Evil OT. This has been my favorite gaming franchise since I played the first game when I was a kid, so I'll try to be active here and not a lurker.

Hi everyone!

Thanks. Still working some things with the OP but will keep the jist of it.

So apparently in Code Veronica on PS4. You can get the trophy for upgrading one of the guns just by watching the demo plays. Since at some point in them she has the gun and it triggers the trophy. Currently testing it. Will post if it's true.

Nice OT Jaw and glad to see you here, I'm quite surprised your first OT isn't about Dino Crisis. :lol

Long live this thread, can't wait for Not a Hero, End of Zoe and REmake 2!

love this series forever. i will never forget the ecstatic joy of getting the colt python in RE1 for the first time--all weirdly bright grey sitting there waiting on me behind that stone tiger. or the tyrant fight in the back of the plane in code veronica! man, this series just rules. to say nothing of RE4 (garth and wayne bowing here)

i will be hanging in this thread a lot.

The Internet
I finished REmake this month, first time I played Resident Evil in over 15 years or so. The slight changes in REmake were enough to throw me off too, but I really enjoyed it. Finished it Chris. I looked at the PS4 leaderboard, and there are people finishing it in an hour with Jill. Crazy.

Nice to see you on here Beelz, I remember your avatar.

Here's a fun topic to discuss on here with some of the folk. What's your personal favorite gun out of the series? Can be any titles.

I think I am going to go with the Red 9 from Resident Evil 4 as my favorite weapon of choice and feel. This is then followed by Resident Evil 2 with the Remington.

The weight and feel with some of these deadly little beasts just felt so good when you get an excellent shot. The joys of having the odds against you with the genre. Every shot and bullet matters.

the red9 is a great choice. it's difficult to not say a gun from RE4 because it specifically is designed to make the guns feel empowering and each to have a very distinct feel. did you guys watch those short documentaries in which they talk about the amount of work they put into the sound of each alone? the CLANK CLANK when you fire.

if i'm choosing for myself, i think i would say the striker from RE4. the look of it is awesome, and it comes at a time when you are just really hating those monks. the basic handgun is also so useful and great that i'm tempted to choose it.

if i'm choosing from traditional RE, i would still go with a shotgun.

the ammo/power ratio for shotguns is always very favorable. this is usually not true for the next step up (typically a grenade launcher or sniper rifle).

I love all the shotguns in RE4 and 5. They're so great. Red9 best handgun tho.

RE has always had great shotguns, I feel. With the upgraded shotgun in 2 as the best of them all.

I wish The Evil Within 2 had sexy reload animations like these. :(

i wish it had hit detection and the aim sensitivity like RE4. i was so excited when i got a
gun with a laser sight
because i thought it was RE4 all over, but the zoom on it is unbearable.

not enough good lessons taken from that game.

Yeah, I share that sentiment. the closest thing TEW2 it has going on is maybe the Bow reload, although it was a pain in the ass during stressful situations

This is actually hilarious. I could kind of see how an oversight like this got through, I bet Capcom just didn't care enough.

Yeah... I'm still using it, but if it had the regular pistol camera it would be perfect.

What bugs me about the Warden Crossbow is how when there's a "hold square to look" moment, it changes my ammo time if I do. I need to get used to it.

Another awesome reload animation is Leon's with the dual guns in RE6.

Sooo good.

I found EW to have some weird lag on the feel of shooting where Resident Evil has had no issues on this side of things. Kudos to Capcom being king of game mechanism in this scene. 6 is just crazy with the depth on that part alone but I really did love the feel of 5. Playing mercs and using little shortcuts such as combing stuff on the go while climbing ladders and all that as a part of the charm.

Man I hope they do another full on Mercs package or something again on the Switch.

I think the trophies are added by Sony and not the publishers themselves.

The trophies are done by detecting certain parts of data being read, so I guess it reads the same data for the gun during demo as during actual game.

Great OT jaw! Buying RE Revelations 1/2 for Switch next month (Almost forgot they're coming!) and maybe RE7 Gold Edition for PC in December.

i don't remember it well, which means your statement is likely true. in fact, none of the weapons in CV felt very good, if memory serves.

Yeah, for some reason all the weapons in CV lacked Omph, which was a bit off-putting.

The shotgun is weak, but I think they all seem weak due to enemies lacking reactions and have no damage, like a rocket launcher leaves an enemy fully intact and just kills it.

that deafens my ears somehow in an enjoyable way.
i hope remake still has that kickback effect.

This is exactly what i'm hoping too. I can't think of anything more satisfying than blowing a zombie in half while playing the original RE2. The sound, the kickback and even the damage, it's just perfect.

That's why i'm terribly afraid of the possibilites with this game. Despite RE4 and RE7 being one of the most recent and goriest titles of the franchise, Resident Evil 2 is even gorier. I honestly can't say if they're going to push this aspects back because of today's graphical fidelity, thinking about a more sensitive public/missing possible sales. It wouldn't made me mad or even say mean things towards this project, like it generally happens with most people, but it would definitely make the title feels flat on this part for me.

Just don't mess with the original soundtrack. I'm expecting nothing more than a remasterization job akin to REmake, something different would hurt it so much.
