Saw the cast was revealed and didn't see a thread yet so figured I'd post the cast as I'm cautiously optimistic about this cast after tuning out after week 1 for about the last 4 seasons.

Holy shit I thought that was Frank lol.

I will do what I did for the last four years and watch the first two episodes. If it sucks (again), I'm bailing (again).

Hmmm, any rumors on possible twists?

Mmm... any returnees getting shoe horned in with multi-week protections?

Rumors seem to be varied right now. Early talk was that it would be an all-stars season and the Amazing Race/Big Brother/Survivor casting was basically letting them go after the vets in somewhat secret with everyone just assuming it was for Amazing Race and not Big Brother.

Then it all changed to 4 returnees, which kind of got taken back just a couple days before the cast was revealed and now it's mostly considered no returnees. So it's kind of up in the air.

My guess is there will be something. They've said the twitter twist isn't the main twist of the season and they've talked up season 20 as being an idea that was deserving of season 20 so I can't see this being just this basic 16 newbie season.

Before the cast interviews and bios came out I thought I'd absolutely hate the cast by just looking at them. They all looked like clones and copycat archetypes of previous house guests, but after watching a good amount of the interviews I'm cautiously optimistic about the season. Seem to be a decent amount of fans, surprisingly few people that seem to turn it on for the camera or put up a front in the interviews, and there's a couple personalities that really seem like out there picks as far as Kassting is concerned.

Angie and Scottie are basically the only people I could see being hard to watch, but that could all turn around.

another lazy diversion for 'production' to hide behind, of course.

Basically. The idea that it's around social media and possibly not CBS directly makes me think it will either involve nothing consequential, or the season will have returnees and they know it will help them no matter what just because they'd be the known quantity going into the season. They don't let stuff out of their control unless they already know the results.

House Reveal

Twist talk.

There will be three different challenges on premiere night that the network promises "will yield a game-changing power — and two unprecedented punishments."

Big Brother will introduce a new tech-themed twist called the "BB App Store," for which CBS notes that "America will get a chance to get the Houseguests trending, resulting in power apps or punishments that could crash their game."

Agree. Same has happened with survivor just not as blatantly

I've understood it a little more in Survivor but for some reason it happens less there(as of late). With Survivor there less time, you're put back in the situation with going to Tribal to remind you why you were angry, your getting voted out can be less known before hand. For some reason I think Survivor players have more reason to be a bitter jury member but it seems to happen less than Big Brother. At least lately, BB used to be better about it.

First HoH spoiler

Tyler is the first HoH

It came from the same person(vegasforsure on reddit) who has spoiled the past 2 seasons. She's legit.

How is this getting out? When did they move in?

The details this person has given over the last couple season's has lead people to think she's someone actually on the production staff in some way. And due to some weird Reddit drama these may be the last spoilers we're getting from them this season.

First HOH gives me strong safe/oddball nominees. AKA Steve screwed.

BB App Store twist will be revealed on July 1st.

The room seems to be the same room that they used for Den of Temptation last season, only this time it's an "app store."

Houseguests will need to be "trending" on social media and they'll get "powerful apps" giving them advantages for being trending, however houseguests that aren't trending will get "hacked with punishments that will crash their game."

I don't really know what any of this means but we'll find out next week I guess.

Let's hope this stays true.

I'm of the opinion that a vet will join the house closer to the end. Similar to the "BattleBack" twist with Cody and Cameron but this time, it will be an existing house guest and a vet and whoever wins, stays in the house.

Just my personal opinion though. They've been pretty adamant that this is an "all new" cast so I don't see any vets joining on premiere night or even in the first few weeks of the show.

I want to think we aren't getting vets this season, this year we are getting vets in the amazing race and that other show
Survivor
.

CBS should be sattisfied with that.

I've never watched this series but I like game shows. How does this work?

Bunch of people move into a house, they do competitions to become head of household. That person nominates two people, a set number of people (The nominees and randomly chosen other houseguests) compete for Power Of Veto, winner of that is immune from eviction for the week. If it's one of the nominees (or if the winner chooses to use the POV on one of the nominees), HOH has to submit a new nominee.

House then votes on who they want to evict. Evictee goes home. After a certain number of weeks, evictees become Jury Members and go to a jury house instead, they all come back on finale night to vote FOR who they want to win.

Mind you, throughout this whole process, production (particularly in the US version) meddles like FUCK in the background and anything that is "America's Vote" or "left to the fans" is usually 100% bullshit and is manipulated to achieve the most drama and ratings-favourable outcomes that CBS wants (Like someone getting voted back in, or a secret hidden veto for someone who is for sure going home and that everyone hates, etc).

^ Couldn't have said it better

also Pog what makes this game special in particular from other shows is that there is a live stream of the house almost 24/7. We get to hear all their conversations and see what they're doing at almost all times. The only times they don't show them is for competitions and nomination ceremonies. We get to see how these people really are on a daily basis and not through an edited TV show.

Hmmm I haven't been tuning the past couple seasons. I'll try and see if I can what it this year. And is it just me or does Haleigh look like a brown headed Nicole?

To me, Haleigh looks like Raven. A hated cast member from last season because she didn't do anything but still got pretty far (Jury). I don't even think she won one competition.

This chick had me tuning out of the whole season from 10 minutes into the very first episode. I instantly hated her that damn much.

I was a hardcore BB watcher going back to season 2, but I finally just gave up on the show after season 17. Decided to check out this thread to see if "production" decided to address any of the major issues with the show and....LOLOLOLOL

You sound identical to me. Was obsessed with the show basically from season 2(watched season 1 but didn't care as much) to midway through season 17 and haven't watched anything since for longer than an episode or two. I just keep coming back hoping casting won't be as bad and as annoying and returnees won't come back or it will be an all-stars season. All new cast and not many annoying people so far has me a lot more interested this season.

More info on the BB App Store twist directly from Grodner, houseguests that are the most trending will choose special powers (instead of voting someone to have a power) and punishments and viewers will take surveys every week on who is the most trending and who is the least trending which will decide that.

"It is sort of a spin on that," says Grodner. "It's a bit different, though. In this case, people will go online and they complete a survey with questions about the houseguests that will result in some houseguests trending the most and some houseguests trending the least. And, in that case, the houseguests will go one at a time into the App Store, similar to last year, but instead of people voting people to have certain powers, the people that are trending the most based on the survey will have access to choose certain powers. So it's a little different. I think in this way it sort of gives the houseguests some outside information they've never had — who might be popping more and who might be popping least. They will get that feedback depending on whether they were given a power or a punishment in the App Store."

So think final season on GAF it was open spoilers once feeds started. Sticking with that? More curious as to what to expect in thread.

I don't expect much from this show. I turn the TV on, and turn my brain off. Decent filler til Survivor is back.

Looking forward to the SUMMER OF STEVE 2018.

The BB App Store sounds incredibly fucking dumb....don't know why they insist on messing with this game so much. Old BB was soooo much better.

19 on GAF had the spoiler tags. I'm very much on the side of not having them once the feeds officially start though. It's not like people were tagging their reactions to any of the drama anyway.

No way this bb app thing wont get hacked in some way. Telling houseguests if they are popular or not is a very bad idea.

The german big brother was like that in a way. The viewers were the people every week voting out 1 houseguest. You can imagine what that meant. Houseguests acting all fake to get the viewers votes. Either through being super nice or acting crazy to make people want the person to stay in the house for more drama.

Thats why i loved the US version. There was no tv audience to change these people and the voting etc.

Looks like this will have an even bigger impact than "americas vote" last season.

http://ew.com/tv/2018/06/25/big-brother-20-allison-grodner/

This is somehow even more dumb than I originally imagined it could be. Leave it up in the air as to what the survey will ask and how they'll even determine most trending lol this is literally them giving it to whoever they want and just changing the parameters on how they decide "trending".

They literally just made America's Choice more hack and riggable lol

You could literally ask 5 random questions of "who is the worst player" and they could say "Well, Angie was answered the most so she is most trending."

God damn Grodner...
