Ping this shit to Chris Hayes. He's been pretty much a figurehead for this crisis from the very beginning.

At the bare minimum everyone in this administration must be prosecuted and spend their lives in maximum security prison with no chance of parole.

From the court documentsfrom the article (pg ~170).

6. Some of the staff at Shiloh would provoke the children there and make us angry intentionally. They made us act violently so then we had to be given shots. The staff would insult us and call us names like "son of a whore." They often did it in English but I understood some English so I would know what they were saying and get really angry.

...

8. When he would call the medical staff, they would come and give me a shot to tranquilize me. It happened many times. They would give me the shot and then I would start to feel sleepy and heavy, and like I didn't have any strength. I would sleep for three or four hours and then wake up and slowly start to feel my strength return. When the staff did that, they left me in the classroom near the wall to sleep. I also saw them do that to one of my friends, [REDACTED].
9. Another staff member at Shiloh was also violent with me twice. I don't know his name; he was older and he retired while I was there. When he grabbed me, he would bend my hand all the way back so it almost touched my wrist. It really hurt. I almost cried, but he just laughed.

Hey, before this spreads further, can someone please verify Reveal News' credentials?

The link is a few post down in the first page

The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) is a nonprofit news organization based in Emeryville, California, and has conducted investigative journalism since 1977. It is known for producing stories that reveal scandals or corruption in government agencies and corporations.. Has won numerous high standard journalism awards.

It is important to note that the article is based on a court document, it is not from the journalist investigation. It is the credibility of the person or organisation that filed the lawsuit that matter.

Sadly this has been happening for a long long time regarding children in state/federal care.

I'm guessing they fabricate reasons for injections to retain funding.

This is why I can never be an advocate of forced medication by the state without a judges order or some due process. Just wholesaling this shit is terrible and no oversight is inviting exploitation.

Seems like it was isolated but a Congresswoman commented on it back in 2014 so it appears the government in some capacity has been aware for a long time.
The fact that this has been going on for five years and we're only now finding out about it in detail is fucking disgusting.

Contractors need to be held accountable and there needs to be heavy regulation on these parasites. We contract out for prison and war and these guys run around like the law doesnt applyo them.

Without absolving the Trump administration, these allegations in court testimony are from the Obama administration. In all likelihood if these private facilities did this under Obama's watch, then it's likely much worse under Trumps, but... the allegations mentioned in the court filings are from before Trump took office.

Read the court docs. This actually does go back to the Clinton admin, but continued into all the way through Obama and Trump admins.

I'm sure it's also happening in juvenile detention centers and prisons.

The immediate question becomes: why did the government allow Daystar or it's offspring companies (like Shiloh) to continue to obtain government contracts for the care of children after reports of wide-spread abuse came out?

"Daystar's license was not revoked until January 2011"

???

"The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services allowed [Daystar Treatment Center, who now operates Shiloh] -- that was responsible for four deaths, numerous allegations of sexual abuse, and unthinkable treatment of developmentally disabled children -- to operate for 17 years."

What did the federal government know and when did they know it? Or is this something Bugs Bunny needs to cut Texas off the US map over?

Incorrect. It goes back to the Clinton administration.

Some are from before trump admin and some during. It's also a private contractor. So you can't really say any of this is directed by an admin.

Can we get some clarification in the OP for this? People doing drive-by's in this thread like this started last month.

This didn't start under Trump, reports go back to 2014.
This is a privately run government contractor. This is not an ICE facility.
The drugs are psychiatric, not psychedelic. This isn't MKULTRA.

This is monstrous and reprehensible, but it's important to understand the facts.

Apparently, they did do this, though, per the documentation.
The lawsuit has a few accounts pre-2017, but the vast majority are from the Trump years -- perhaps explained by changes in Trump's policy that would increase the number of children being sent to facilities like this. And this is all for a contracted facility, not the government directly.

But my point is that "the dems did it" does not make it ok, regardless of how much truth is behind the statement.

Jesus Christ, everything about this detainment system needs to be destroyed and rebuilt from the bottom up. Everyone responsible needs to be prosecuted, regardless of administration or political alignment.

Edit:Seems like the blame should be laid on the contractor and anyone who knew but did not demand oversight

People can't do little things like "actually reading the court filing" before running in to post their hot take.

I wonder how much they can just argue these captured people needed psychological care.

Court document says some were used in at least one case that was disclosed and that I found.
What psychedelics does it say? I find that hard to believe since all psychedelics are schedule 1 illegal substances.

Holy shit. If Reveal is reporting this, it's legit.

Trump administration officials need to pay for this. Obama people, too.

This is horrifying.

It appears that the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is most directly to blame. This company has been doing this shit for 25 years under different brand names in Texas. It's unclear what -- if any -- awareness of this company's activities would have hit the radar of anyone at the Federal level, never mind the Executive or Legislative branches.

They flew under the radar until now thanks to what appears to be complete neglect and dereliction of duty by the TX Department of Family and Protective Services.

Texans: put those pitchforks to good use.
