Unfortunately I'm not sure if I still want this game at launch. Last year I was hype as fuck when in march and early april I only had Zelda, Bomberman, Shovel Knight and Fast RMX.
But now I have so much games to play. Even first party wise, I still have Sushi to finish, tomorrow Tennis, then in July Octopath and Captain Toad...
Shame because the game looks fun (and worth the price), but it will release when I will have so much games to play.

I feel like this game lost any hope of succeeding (on Switch) with the ~1.5 year delay.

2D fighters used to be pretty sparse on Switch, but now we've had 2 Street Fighter releases, a bunch of others, and Dragonball FighterZ (as well as Smash) are right on the horizon.

The developers cite network difficulties and Nintendo certification for the delay but plenty of online-heavy games have been released on Switch...and on top of that the game looks identical to what it looked like a year ago with the same small roster and the same version number (0.4.5).

Really not sure what happened with this one, but they dropped the ball hard.

I tried so hard to get into this game but the playerbase was desolate with only a handful of users on discord ever being available to fight against.

Hopefully the Switch version will change that.

Took the words out of my mouth. They waited so long competitors have come in and trounced anything they're capable of.

The game has GGPO netcode and is probably the only 2D fighting game that's viable with JoyCons so I'm in.

Damn, was very on board with this over a year ago.

I feel like I have an overabundance of fighting games on my Switch right now.

At the right price and with good word of mouth I may pick it up eventually.

We wanted the game out just as badly as you guys, trust us. Without going into specifics, the developer ran into a few technical issues and they took much longer than expected to fix. Pocket Rumble is at a very competitive price point ($9.99!) on the Switch, and with a bunch of heavy hitting games in the genre still on the horizon I really think Pocket Rumble has a fighting chance to do well on the platform.

The simplified controls sell it to me. When taking the switch round other peoples houses or on holiday using the joycons for fighters can be a bit rough. Especially with my youngest (12) who isn't really into fighting games.

I get the feeling that the lower skill ceiling for entry will make this much more attractive in those situations.

Plus the ngpc aesthetics are killing it for me.

Man, I am so damned ready for a Street Fighter II rip off. A 2d fighting game about exploiting a limited number of move sets, and all about timing and tactics. Love the look too.

I guess the only thing that is dampening it a bit is that it only got 73% on STEAM.

This is a day one for me. I loved the NeoGeo Pocket and the fighting games that were on it. SNK vs Capcom was a surprisingly competent tag fighter and this game looks just like it.

I'm curious but I am in the same boat as many in terms of losing all hype for it. If the reviews are good I will consider picking it up.

As many in this forum, I've also diminished my hype quite a bit after such a hefty delay.
I really believe they should have released the game without online support to guarantee sales and visibility, and further down the line release a patch with the GGPO netcode and even extra characters.

But it's tough, since time and time again they do mention how small the team is, and how this was basically an side project to most, so no wonder this delay happened.

Gameplay wise a friend that had the chance to play the Steam version did mention how easy it is to spam the specials, thus breaking the game immediatly. No balance, no finesse.
Does anyone has any additional insights on this? Have they adapted this?

I played a crapload of SNK vs Capcom MotM on the Neo Geo Pocket Color, so this game hits a very specific button of nostalgia for me. I look forward to playing it, though my wife might look at me like I'm nuts if I play it in front of her.

They ever gonna be up front about fucking all of their Kickstarter PC backers over considering it's rolling through 2018 and it's still only in early access alpha(beta?) stage?

I'm in the same boat being attracted by the simplicity and visual aesthetic. Fighting games are too damn demanding for my tastes these days.

About fucking time.

Also if you backed this you can email them and get switch version for free even if you already have it on PC or whatever.

It's out in Europe, just finished downloading it. Not surprisingly, it looks great in portable mode and feels great to play. Loving the sprite work so far.

Now all I need is to erase years of quarter circle motion muscle memory haha I keep trying to throw hadokens and messing up because the inputs are much simpler here.

Maybe I can get the GF to try this one... Seems accessible enough.

MAN, since there's so many other NGP(C) games out there, I've lost all hy- wait a minute...

Good to see it finally hitting a console. A console that should accept it's control style very well, too! Maybe it'll be a bit more open to competitive play too, since PC rarely seems to help that at all.

I don't remember some of those stages (or moves?) from the PC version, so I guess it's been quite a while since I played it. NGPC is a great aesthetic that doesn't get enough love. I spent SO MUCH TIME with the consoles SNK VS Capcom games. The look of the easy-to-parse, yet quite well animated chibi sprites was great.

I'll eventually have to double-dip here, especially since it's so inexpensive. I'm always glad the game has grown into it's own thing. The cast looks more unique than ever, even with the simple control limitations.
