Weird thing is someone else tried the game unpatched and claimed every issue was still there.

Regardless of quality, it is *very* hard to go back to the 20~ FPS cut-scenes of the unpatched version. The patches did a great job optimizing those at the very least. So hoping whenever the next patch comes out, they don't go back and break the cut-scene performance again.

I can only find this comparison but as you can see, even in 1.02 the cut-scenes can go as low as 19 (!!!) frames per second. 1.03 improves that greatly and 1.04 even more so.

Even during game play, it feels like 1.02 is always a frame or two behind and the frame spike bars also seem to be reduced/fixed in 1.03 onward. They fixed the game play and performance hitches with the patches, here's hoping they fix the texture bugs a bunch of users are having with the next one.

Having just seen the scene where the "brotherhood" is gathered, if you only did main missions and no ampitheater sidequests in Alexandria, or the sidequests in Herakelion, you wouldn't know who those people were. They should have put these on the main quest chain along with the Anubis curse sidequest chain in Saqqara Nome. If you are playing this for the first time, I would recommend seeking these out.

Also, the way I carried out one of the assassinations in the group Cleopatra gives you - a minor plot point about a secondary character was never revealed to me. Maybe a "Confirm Kill" should have been added to that quest so that this part would trigger?

However, the whole sidequest chain after the Crocodile, Taimhotep's Song, The Bride, and Seven Farmers - just great sidequests that show off Bayek as a character.

BTW the performance of that sequence that came before the brotherhood scene was not good - on PS4 not-pro it crashed once, then after a reboot it still stuttered and wasn't smooth. First time the game's performance was terrible since the cutscene stuttering was fixed.

Not sure how much more side content I'll be doing. I hit a point where I have the abilities I want so I just dump everything into melee damage now. I'm not really a huge collectathon type guy. Maybe I'll just look for a list of "must do" quests before putting it down.

Did that LOD bug hit PC as well? I swear I see a lot more blurry textures in the distance now. Grass rendering looks really low as well. This was mostly in the green mountains region.

Love the one on one combat really. Really cool you have a battle with Pylakes in a middle of a big field with nobody arround.
I was actually sad once they were all dead. Most of them, if not all, were fun fights. Except the one I cheesed by constantly drive-by smacking him from my horse...

What issues are you experiencing?

Last night while on my eighth assassination mission - doing The Crocodile at level 31 - NPC's stopped speaking and my HUD broke. Quit game, reloaded, it still showed only a black screen. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game, it still only shows a black screen.

Edit: XoneX is the platform

Great pictures!

Yes, the Phylake fights - both out in the open and during quests - turned out to be a highlight of this game. Between the Phylakes and the Arena fighters this game has the best "brutes" I've seen in a game in quite a while. For the Assassins's Creed series this is a triumph.

Please people, spoiler tag your stuff.

Nothing is spoiled there. I used sidequest titles only on separate story sidequests, and left out quest titles of other quests. Cleopatra is in this game as a high-profile ruler-type which is not a spoiler in this game or in world history.

It's also not a spoiler that the main quest storytelling is a bit disjointed - you know this from the very beginning by seeing and reading references to things you never encountered. It has already been mentioned in this thread several times without anyone giving away plot points.

Yeah once you realize you can cheese them by just circling on your mount and whacking away, they kinda lose their intimidating status.

Finished the main story last night, and of course at the end they do the same damn thing they did earlier in the game that I hated.

So many are ruined by terrible shoes/boots :(

Several are ruined by lack of shoes, I can't stand having Bayek run around barefoot no matter how cool the rest of the outfit is.

One more thing I'll add: switching to a cursed sword really changed the combat for me. It did so much more damage so the combat felt less... spongy to me. But it also made me easier to kill, so I was much more careful in combat. Ultimately it made me much better at fighting enemies and made the Phylakes feel much more dangerous in the process. I'd never go back to a non-cursed weapon.

I finished the main quest this weekend, with a sizeable amount of side-quests done. I think the game was a vast improvement over previous ones, but it suffers from:
- an unbalanced loot system (where legendaries are way better, and because they are upgradeable you basically use the same weapon for most of the game - defeating the point of loot).
- way too many missions. Horizon had the perfect amount of content, where you feel engaged, there's lots to do, but the amount isn't so overwhelming that you just give up. After so many missions you start to see the patterns and they get less and less enjoyable.
- microtransactions - outfits you buy in-game are really lackluster, while the good ones are locked behind a paywall. Some good ones are unlocked through in-game achievements but those are all endgame - or feel like it. So during the game I had the same outfit the whole time, and that's the one that came with the special edition (which I payed extra for). Game should be rewarding the whole way through, and variety in outfits would be a way of doing that.
- the story continues to be the usual slow, un-engaging political assassin's creed story, made around having assassination targets. I recognise this is part of the series, and fans probably want it, but there's such a rich potential in the little sci-fi elements it briefly shows. But the game just doesn't go there. Not talking about the present time which is useless, but more regarding the Ancient Ones.

Anyway, it was an OK game for me, Egypt was beautiful and sometimes unbelievable in its detail. I wish this wasn't an assassin's creed game because I feel the worst parts of it are the ones where it tries to be faithful to the series history.

You can't even get all of them on pc cause they gated an achievement behind two items that you could only get BEFORE the game even came out from some online contest thingie whcih is absurd.

I didn't realize you could enter areas even if you aren't "properly leveled." The wife has been playing the game with me, but she was sick last night, so I didn't want to play any story missions. I ended up just cruising around the rim of Lake Mareotis (I'm still real early in the game). Then I realized I could go into other places to the South and East. So I started going for viewpoints, checking out the scenery, until I made my way to the pyramids, which naturally I climbed. Jumped around on the Sphinx a bit too. The game feels properly immense, even though the scale (4 km between the pyramids and Alexandria) is a bit absurd. Also got caught in a sandstorm, which looks cool, but is moderately obnoxious to move around in.

Anyway, the RAM in my PC turned out to be bad, so it needs to be replaced, which means I won't be able to play this for at least a couple days. I've been slow to get into this one, but unlocking new abilities is starting to get its hooks into me. Now I'm anxious to dive back in and I can't. Ugh. Hey, maybe they'll come out with a new patch by then, eh?

Hu? Which achievement?

Sorry it's for a uplay challenge rather then achievement. It's the one "Show me the money" which you need to obtain all the club rewards in order to do, which you also need to do for the "completionist" challenge, so two challenges are impossible to do for pc users if you didn't get those two weapons before release.

I have to check but I think I got it even without the two rewards locks behind the contest, but I'm on PS4.

I almost want a refund after the latest patch destroyed the visuals. I simply can't play the game anymore. And even after they fix it, It'll be hard to shake the thought that it doesn't look as good as it once did

I've played around 30+ hours just killed the Hyena, but i'm not getting many legendary weapons as drops (2 or 3). They've mostly been from Reda quests, heka chests, phylakes and the papyrus riddles.

Am I just ridiculously unlucky or is that how the game is?

It's kinda how it is. Papyrus puzzles and Phylakes are guaranteed legendaries though.

This game is a health hazard. Completed the game, level 40, 120+ side quests. I can literally still jump in and go check mark to check mark then look at the clock and it's "oh shit 5 hours later" without realizing it.

Okay question for everyone... About 4 hours in... Level 12...have both charged right trigger hit and parry. Why would you even use parry? Timing is super tight... Better to just back up with hammer, charge shot and break guard right? Am I doing something wrong?

Finally got around to finishing the story last night, absolutely loved the whole game and ended up going on a deep dive in to the Assassins lore afterwards.

Is there any indication whether they are going back to a yearly cycle or not? I would imagine another game has probably been in development for a while now.

Your follow up hit after a parry is a crit I believe.
