It roughly adapts the stories. They're all in different orders though and so they play out a bit differently and with the consistent cast of characters that sometimes means there are new people involved to shade the cases in slightly different ways than the book versions. Additionally some storylines in the show are presented as backstory in the books, but since they're present day here it also creates a different dynamic. Each season typically pulls from 2-3+ different books, but there are also some more minor plot threads sewn in that are wholly original, typically relating to the other characters apart from Bosch.

Interesting. I was a huge of Connelly back in the '90s and up the mid '00s (I didn't really stop being a fan either, I just haven't kept up with the novels) so Bosch has always been something I should check out. Welliver is perfect casting.

I thought Real World evolved into something else already. Or am I thinking of Road Rules? I didn't watch much MTV . I could have sworn that some show "Challenge" was kind of the rebranding of a previous MTV show.

Connelly himself is involved with the show as a producer and sometimes writer. If you liked the books I think you'll like the show. Definitely check it out. The first season is the worst I think (still not bad though, just kinda typical) but overall the show is very watchable and good.

Netflix is hiring everyone:
Steven S. DeKnight Inks Overall Deal With Netflix
Writer, director and producer Steven S. DeKnight is expanding his relationship with Netflix, signing a multi-year overall deal with the Internet TV network for series and other projects, including feature films.

DeKnight was the creative force behind the first season of Netflix's Marvel's Daredevil, serving as showrunner and executive producer. The series is going into its third season on Netflix later this year. He also created, wrote and executive produced Starz series Spartacus, which also is available on Netflix. On the film side, he most recently wrote and directed Pacific Rim: Uprising, his first foray into features. He was a writer on Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, and wrote, directed, and produced on the series Angel, Smallville, and Dollhouse.

I think they are. The only thing they have on tap is Scream season 3 but it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to offload it to Hulu at this point.
Yeah, after looking into it a bit more scripted does indeed seem to be dead at MTV. Now if only outlets wouldn't shorten "MTV Studios" to just "MTV" that would make everything better for my confusion.

Given their new focus on sci fi, I imagine we'll be seeing Incursion sooner or later
Yes, please.

He's mentioned recently that it's not dead, but I wonder what happens with the Netflix move. Does Starz own the IP since he developed it there?
Are you developing another show for Starz called Incursion, or is that something in development?

Yeah. I developed Incursion for Starz a few years ago. That, and am I ever going to do sequel to Spartacus are the two biggest questions I always get on Twitter. Incursion, as I tell everybody is definitely not dead. I don't know when I will get to it, but we wrote an entire first season, and did a bunch of concept work on it, and I hope in the next few years to get that in front of the screen. Now, thankfully since I've done a big movie, I'll be able to direct the pilot.

Mo Ryan talking about it on the Twitters. It'll depend on what kind of deal he signed...

I wonder what has happened with Scream season 3. I watched the first two seasons on Netflix and actually enjoyed the show more than I anticipated.

I read season three is a complete cast reboot which is weird but whatever. Wondering if it is even happening anymore. If MTV doesnt want to do the show anymore I wouldn't mind if someone else picked it up like Netflix.

Is this thread going to be full of Incursion talk for the next 18 months?

Again?!

Urgh.

Yeah, Incursion will be on the same network as New Warriors and the Supernatural spin-off. It's an OTT service so expensive that only the five richest Kings in Europe can afford to subscribe to it.

Enjoy.

Yellowstone premiered huge with 2.83 million viewers. Dang! (It being a western, skewed pretty 50+, but they couldn't possibly be surprised by that)

Never heard of Incursion before, but the premise sounds cool and Spartacus is one of my favorite shows ever.

Good to see DWP renewed, just finished watching season 2.

I wish the show itself was more engaging. It wasn't bad it was just very, very straightforward and dry. No real hook or moment you couldn't get from reading the premise/summary. Not at all to the level of everything else Sheridan has done.

'The Terror' Renewed For Season 2 By AMC Set During World War II
AMC has ordered a 10-episode second season of its critically praised anthology series The Terror for premiere in 2019.

Season 2 is co-created by a new creative team, Alexander Woo (True Blood) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island) with Woo, who is currently under an overall deal at AMC Studios, set as showrunner. The next iteration, based on an idea by Borenstein, will be set during World War II and center on an uncanny specter that menaces a Japanese-American community from its home in Southern California to the internment camps to the war in the Pacific. Woo and Borenstein take over from Soo Hugh and David Kajganich, who served as co-showrunners on season one.

I'm definitely up for more of The Terror, that first season is extraordinary. Hopefully the hopping around to different locations isn't spreading itself too much but it's an intriguing idea.

'Timeless' Canceled By NBC After 2 Seasons, May Get Movie Series Finale
This is bad news for Timeless fans — for a second consecutive year, NBC has canceled the time-travel series. This time, NBC postponed the renewal decision until after the May upfronts; it comes just days before the options of the series' cast are set to expire.

That was in part because the network and Timeless producer Sony Pictures TV had been discussing doing a two-hour movie that would resolve the cliffhanger in the recent Season 2 finale and wrap the stories on the show, giving fans closure. I hear the two sides have not been able to make the economics work so far but conversations continue, and NBC appears interested.

Sony TV is known for fighting for its shows, so the studio is expected to explore every avenue for Timeless but I hear they are not planning to extend the cast's options, which expire June 30, as it is pretty costly. If a movie materializes, everyone will have to make a new deal, but given how invested all stars of the show have been, engaging the fans on social media, that likely won't be a problem.

Poor Timeless. That show just never took off the way it should have. Hopefully Abigail Spencer can land another good role soon.

Sorry, Timeless fans, that's too bad. I thought the longer wait would lead to some good news.

I wasn't terribly invested in Timeless, though the wife and I did watch it. It sucks that they canceled it.

Regardless, I'm pretty much in the mode of only watching stuff after it's clearly successful. Otherwise I just watch the stuff that gets killed off over and over.
