I literally started this last night. I take it I can play on harder difficulty for the drop rates, and then switch to Normal for bosses or whenever it gets too hard?

I had a feeling this would happen, so I didn't do much of the side content and just went straight to the end. I'll pick this back up when DLC comes out and finish it all.

I think the problem with a lot of people is that they didn't give it enough time. The game was dirt easy in the beginning, but got a lot harder around the mid point. I never grinded any, so I got to the point where some basic enemies were like 10 levels above me and wasted me pretty quickly if I wasn't evasive enough. It can get challenging at points for sure, especially the tainted enemies and the dungeon like areas.

I hope DQXI is waaaaay better, this dooesn't even do much wrong except being boring, babby's first jrpg (not the difficulty but the whole tone) and dull although enjoyable at times. Super lame sequel, should have given it another title really.
Can't trust Easy Allies on this, that's for sure.

I sure would've hoped that they would not have the cheek to ask for money for this update!

And people criticising the game, any game, is fair game obviously.

Not sure what your edit was in aid of.

Japan in general is getting a lot more casual, which is very worrying for me, many of their games have this handholding garbage tutorial now that just won't shut the fuck up.

FromSoftware is like the only studio in Japan that still understands the art of silence. It's also the one of the few studios that actually respects player's intelligence.

No problem criticising the game, but If I remember the most critic aspect was difficult and its finally fixed. Its just like saying 'already sold the game. Why they update? Leave him die'
Updates always wellcome.

Er, this was actually one of the biggest complaints about the first game with Drippy literally being a handholding tutorial during boss fights, and the game dishing out mechanics extremely slowly. The second game takes all of that out and hands you basically everything you need within a couple of hours.

Yeah, but none of that really matters if the game barely offers any challenge. It's just not fun, it like playing tic-tac-toe with a toddler.

I'm hoping for a audio patch to add voice overs to more of the scenes but this is a step in the right direction. I stopped playing it because it wasn't challenging enough for me so I'm going to try these harder difficulties and see if that makes it a better experience. The combat is pretty great but it was so mindless before.

Could have used this from the beginning but it will be good for another playthrough when I get around to it. Now if only we could get some news on the DLC's since I paid for the season pass against my better judgement.

Well, at least it's something. Though there is more to a game's difficulty than the enemies hitting hard.

With the game been 50% off on steam now is perfect time to get it.

I was initially really looking forward to the game but when I heard that the combat was piss easy and that battles could end in less than 10 seconds I was turned off. Really happy that they added higher difficulties.

Glad I haven't got around to starting yet.

Don't mind a easy game at all, but just heard how brutally easy the game was.

Does nothing for me because I already beat it but hopefully some people who dropped it or haven't started it because of the difficulty try it.

Got it 3 hours ago, this is perfect so far for a new game on expert, you get 3-4 shot usualy, you have to dodge and block all the time, healing item are a life saver here. I also like the fact you get better equipement drop rate make them so usefull right now. This is a total game changer for me... the game went from Skip totally(i've stop after 5 hours the first time) to a really must play for JRPG fan.... This is amazing how make a game challenging can change a game

Well, it worked on me

I just bought it on PS4, downloading now

Game that looks this good, runs at 60fps and can now be made to be more challenging? I'm fairly certain I'll get my money's worth

Wow actually pretty surprised they did it because there was no word and as far as I can tell precedent for Level 5 to release a difficulty patch.

I wish they would patch in full voice acting. Other games have done it, but I doubt it's going to happen here.

True, if this is the beginning of something new, i can only be happy. I usualy like their game, but the difficulty on them are all over the place... too cake walk to freaking unbalanced...

Just started playing for the first time an hour ago. Started on expert, it feels fine. Challenging, but i've made plenty of mistakes as well- still figuring out the controls

If when more systems get dumped and make the game too frustrating i'll drop it down to hard, but so far this is fun
