Very graphic video in article. Didnt see a thread and don't think this has gotten near the coverage it deserves.

https://nypost.com/2018/06/22/the-moment-a-teen-is-pulled-out-of-a-store-and-fatally-stabbed/

Surveillance videos Friday showed the horrifying moment a teen was dragged by a group of thugs out of a Bronx bodega and repeatedly hacked at with a machete before he bled to death on the street — steps away from a hospital.

Lesandro Guzman-Feliz, 15, is seen being dragged by the hood of his shirt out of the Cruz and Chiky grocery on East 183rd Street and Bathgate Avenue in Belmont on Wednesday night.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Not to blame him/her but could the owner not have done more? I feel like this is what a shop keep would be packing heat for. If I stayed in the Bronx I would be marching in the streets.

The last thing a shop owner in a high crime area wants to do is interfere with a gang hit.

I wonder what they were after this kid for?

I could be wrong , but I heard that it had something to do with someone that looks like this kid releasing the video of a girl having sex. That girl was related to the killers.

It was a mix up.

Food for thought, most Spanish speaking people come to this country trying to get their families away from this type of situations and violence, to end in that same manner in what is consider a safer environment hurts even more when it happens. My most sincere condolences to the family.

I find this to be a particularly idiotic and pathetic question. If we can spend multiple pages discussing the death of some abusive rap star, why not keep that same energy with an innocent(?) 15 yr old kid?

I dunno. Fuck it lock the thread since it bothers yall so much.

Saw this yesterday, can't believe the kid nearly got to the hospital from such a far distance. I wish he would have went to the store and allowed the owners to call an ambulance, may have been able to prevent the extensive blood loss and may have increased his chance of living.

Just awful, seeing the pic of his mom holding the son just really hurt. I hope they get those thugs, their faces were video taped and zoomed in and everything. They have nowhere to hide.

You're talking about the community of ResetEra. Simple misunderstanding.

People in the fucking Bronx?

People in the Bronx aren't reading your thread, we are.

So if the point of your thread was just so we can all react with "wow that's terrible", it's not really accomplishing anything, other than expose your shitty attitude and quickness to drop slurs.

Also thinking the store owner could have stepped up and done something essentially would have been a death sentence. I don't blame him for not wanting to be a martyr who definitely would've gotten fucked up if the gang decided to retaliate.

I know that place. This is fucked up.

Obviously some people on this forum are from NY. Why even post if you are just going to make limp ass excuses? Its crazy that a place like the coli can discuss this topic with more consideration than a place that prides itself on its morals. Grow some balls. Throwing your hands up and turning your head away is not going to do shit to make this country better.

Even if you do nothing more than tell a group a friends you can help inspire change and a response to this type of violence.

I was born and raised in the Bronx, this area used to be my stomping ground. If you want honesty, we can filled up the front page of off topic with topics just like this one and even worse (concerning children) all taking place in the Bronx. I could tell you stories of middle school students going into McDonald's with a long kitchen knife they hid in a garbage can outside to stab someone they got into a arguement with.

The shop keeper couldn't do anything period. If he did they would have went after him next. The kid did the only thing he could've done which was fight back to escape.

This is one of those stories where it's fucked up and I see why the other user sees no point talking about it. What do you want us to say? I'm curious. I and many others feel for this kid and his family.

You seem unfamiliar with New York City gun laws, among other things, and your overall tone in the thread is weirdly confrontational and accusatory. At the very least, it's not at all conducive to the change you say you're invested in. Not really sure I understand your intentions.

What's pathetic is your inability to understand that unless you want to make a thread for each and every single crime that happens in the Bronx, nothing about this particular instance stands out any more than the rest. And that's a harsh truth.

They are graphic, they are horrific, they need to stop. No one is going to fight you or argue with you on those points. But you, posting this thread for all of us to witness, are not actually accomplishing anything. And your extremely aggressive attitude to even people FROM THE PLACE YOU ARE RALLYING ABOUT isn't helping either. Do you think people in NY don't already see and read about this on a daily basis? The people who have to live with this reality? The people who are prime in place to be able to push for change? Do you honestly think they're all just complacent about how it's all going down?

You know what would've happened if the store owner stepped up to try and save the kid? We'd likely have a dead kid, a dead store owner, maybe a dead gang member or two. And if the store owner didn't die then, he would when the gangs retaliate, and you know full well they would. You wanted him to be a martyr for the cause, when that's a tall price to ask of anybody who hasn't signed up for that kind of life, and really easy to say when it's not you in the hotseat.

And drop it with the fucking "grow a pair". The toxic masculinity isn't helping you either.

Im glad this is funny to you.

The gun laws in NYC are different from the laws of New York state. You can't even legally own a realistic looking fake gun in NYC without a license of some kind. (A lot of people own toy guns anyway, but it's not legal.) The NYPD have done raids on costume shops.

Unless the laws have drastically changed, you're mistaken.

Glad to also learn that NYC is the only place with violence.

What no? cities get "over run by crime "because of social, political ,and economic change and problem not because people are afraid to stand up to.

Point out anywhere in any of my posts that I said there is "nothing I can do". It's fucking disingenuous to keep accusing people of saying that when all we've been saying is what YOU'RE doing right now isn't accomplishing much of anything.

You have an attitude problem, go take a walk and maybe gain some perspective. I genuinely believe you aren't engaging with anyone in good faith, and are now going to bail when people pointed that out.

You are infinitely more likely to have your life ruined by gang violence than terrorism.

Hope they get these thugs.

Tragic story.

But i'm not sure what is there to discuss. It's a brutal gang-related targeted hit that caught an innocent bystander. There's ±17.000 homicides in the US every year. Let that sink in.

Crime taking over cities...

NYC has had a sharply falling crime rate for years. Stop using this horrific attack on a kid to peddle the idea that cities are crime hellholes. It's gross.

Why would it be a threat? If you really do be careful. If you don't live out of NY stay in a hotel in Manhattans and commute to the Bronx if you're really making noise. Just be careful. The Bronx and every other hood in the states isn't Iraq or Afghanistan.

No one is sweeping it under the rug in this thread. There really isn't much to say sadly. All I originally was getting at was that I understood why some of the users said that there's not much conversation to be had except to be horrified at what happened.

But we're not sweeping it under the rug. We're pointing out to you that making a thread for a single crime out of the tens of thousands like it that happen both across the country and around the world isn't actually doing anything for the cause. It's a place where people will write "wow that's horrible" for 3 pages and then the thread gets locked because nothing is actually getting discussed.

Hell the only discussion really going on in here is us arguing with you about your horrible attitude and refusal to understand the above. You keep seeming to imply that us saying "man this thread is just misery" means "GUESS WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING LUL SUCKS TO BE THE BRONX" when you have no fucking idea what we do when NOT posting on a fucking internet forum.

If you wanted to make a thread that looks at the rate of crime in and around the Bronx, the factors that led to this, the things that can be done, etc. This all would've gone over a lot better. That's actually raising awareness of the issue, the causes, the possible solutions

Instead you posted a pretty fucked up video, suggested a store owner should've essentially thrown his own life away, and then accused people of wanting to ignore the issues. On top of the outdated "be a man/grow some balls" posts that seem to be a habit of yours given your post history.
